My georgaphy professor used to live in the DC area, and he said he knew one person who literally thought there was nothing of any importance to anyone between the east coast and the west coast. He also thought that produce was made at the grocery store.

My father has told me stories about a guy he knew in the army that could have been that guys father. You can imagine my pop, having been raised on a Texas farm, feeling the need to educate that city slicker.
