So, on my big day off from work here today, I went to the store and bought 2 bags of dog food. After that exciting shopping experience, I came home and watched some of the Boston Marathon; Meb Keflezighi from San Diego, CA, won the Men's title, and he is the first American male in 31 years to win! It was fun to watch him acknowledge the crowd after he passed the finish line. I don't think I've ever seen anyone so happy!

I watched that too. I may or may not have wiped a tear or 2...

My mother has an amazing garden every year. She starts her tomatoes in the house in these little incubator thingies - or buys plants. You can't start tomato seeds outside.

You should buy a big pot and a tomato plant and try again - there's nothing like a home grown tomato!

Oh my. I have several generations of farmer ancestors rolling over in their graves right now...!

Finally a quiet day here in Crazynemoland. DH is out raking the yard and I'm, well, not.

Oh my. I have several generations of farmer ancestors rolling over in their graves right now...!

We've started plants from seed here, but indoors. When my kids wer little that was always our First Day of Spring project - planting seeds for the garden. Now we just go to Rita's for a free icee and buy the plants half grown.

I was busy suffering the most heartbreaking loss ever in a Madden game. In other words, I was procrastinating the work I have to do. Typical me!

My parents lived with us for 2 summers - 03 and 04.

My dad and I planted two kinds of tomatoes (yuck!), English cucumbers and pickling cucumbers, and for some reason, peppers.

The tomatoes turned out fine (if you're into that kind of thing), we were drowning in cucumbers, and the peppers were a bust. Except for some rhubarb, which comes back year after year (no matter how many times Hubby has moved over it), we haven't planted anything since.

Truth be told, I haven't been in my backyard in 4 years, except to step on the deck once or twice to get in the hot tub. I will be off this summer (fingers crossed) and allergies or no, I'm gong to make use of the yard.

If I have to stay put for another year or two, until the boys are away at school and I have a little extra $$, then I might as well start enjoying what I do have, instead of about what I want.

The kid from Home Alone has a Velvet Underground parody band where they make all their songs about pizza. I would elaborate, but the show was sold out when they came to town.

And like the Mermaid ride, my recap would suddenly skip 60% of what happened and go right to the end without explaining how anything was resolved.

OK - you obviously CAN start tomatoes from seeds but it takes a lot of effort and it doesn't produce a superior fruit.
