You are totally inciting @Goofyernmost's wrath for that freeloader comment in the morning.

Then my plan worked!
Here's your new plan whippersnapper... GET A JOB or quit complaining.:grumpy:

Cool! Where you live the snow falls in a grid pattern.

@Goofyernmost welcome back! (I suspect this also means that the News and Rumors forum will get very "lively" again! )

I think all of the Sagateers would really enjoy hearing about your (working) trip.
Thank you... but now the pressure is intense on me. I had kinda gone lite on the N&R forum because pretentiousness causes my blood pressure to rise and at my age that is quite dangerous. :angelic:

As for my trip (working vacation) there isn't really a lot of interest to report. Augusta National Golf Club is absolutely impossible to describe. It is one of those places that one needs to see to really understand. Even High Def. TV cannot really capture the beauty of that piece of land. Groomed to within a fraction of its life, and a color of green that I have never before seen in nature. 10's of thousands of people wandering around as "patrons". Thousands of support staff to make it all run. The tournament itself is just a point on the head of a pin compared to the enormity of the organized madness that makes it go. Great experience!:)

Sounds like you had a good time. I too am in awe of amazing golf courses. Not very far from me in Northern IL is the Medinah Country Club. In 2006 it held the PGA Championships and in 2012 went all out for the Ryder Cup. It is beyond amazing what goes into these tournaments and the staff and volunteer staff they have on hand and coordinate. I've been fortunate enough to make my way in there a few times and my DH to golf once. Both of my kids have attended a private party once held there and will not be forgotten. Can't wrap my brain around the beauty of what is behind the gates.

The local high school that is very near the Medinah Club was coerced into supplying parent and staff volunteers for a week along with closing down the high school for a never before Fall Break. In return the school received funds that went to a new football field. With the 2006 PGA tournament the Club received enough revenue to build a new aquatics area for its members. Never did hear what they did with the 2012 Ryder revenue.

So glad you had the opportunity of a lifetime and enjoyed it.

Legal wording in leases can be tricky, (I've rented for many years). If somewhere in that lease it clearly states that you are responsible for damages to the hot tub, and you signed the lease, then the LL may be within his/her rights to request payment.

Based upon my own experience over the years with LL's, here's a random suggestion. If you are liable for the damage and if the LL isn't budging, can you try to negotiate perhaps a 50% payment, instead of paying the entire thing? I've negotiated with LLs at various points in the past, and sometimes the outcome was positive. Now, it all depends upon the individual LL, but I think it's worth a shot to make a polite, sincere, effort with this person. I think it's sad that you're dealing with this issue at all, because you never even used the hot tub. That's a tough break.

I'm going to probably end up replacing it and sucking it up and getting right over myself.
Not that I want to, but if it saves me from having to find a new place to live, at least for now, I'll do it. I have too much stress as it is on my plate. My doctor keeps yelling at me. He's going to yell at me again on Friday.

Nobody pregnant here, but Son #1 is officially moving back home. Thankfully, his little independence project is over. After a full year wasted, we need to get his a** back into school.

I wish I had the option of moving back into Mom's house. I would save SO much money. But that's not an option, I'm out on my own, and there's no going back. If I utterly fail at life and HAVE to, she will make it very well known that I have a time limit and a strict time frame for being there. More stress, I don't need this.

I really want to buy a house but I just can't afford it. I'm trying to figure out what to do with my life right now. New job? New city? Stay the same? Keep coasting? I feel so lost. Ever since my Grandmother died (she was my everything) I've been lost. I don't think this feeling will ever pass.

But enough depressing crap, this is supposed to be a happy thread.

I just caught up on ten pages of chat that I unfortunately wasn't in on because of stupid life things. Cranky trash cans, snow, pregnant people, some team losing, some cold weather, something about cats, and something about moving out. Also, a fridge.

I think that about covers it? Oh, and J. Thick, who I personally am not a fan of.

Whew.

Question for all of you: I'm meeting with my boss later today. It's absolutely pouring down rain. I'd like to stay in water-proof shoes and jeans rather than getting a nice skirt wet. Since it's just a meeting to fill out some paperwork and discuss hours, would I be fine in dark wash jeans, a nice blouse, and waterproof shoes? Or should I change to a skirt and just let my brace get soaked?

Do you have a pair of slacks? What kind of job is it?

Blouse and waterproof shoes Id say are OK, I'm only questioning the jeans.

My boss, for example, HATES jeans. No 'casual' Friday (he said I could wear anything I want, but no jeans. Ever.) and he hates dealing with people on Friday with jeans on.

I don't have slacks. Not from lack of trying to find them either:banghead:. It's a sales/marketing internship with a large company. If I wore a skirt, do you think my boss would care about wearing hose or not? One thing I cannot stand is wet hose.

Accept for the service industry, all of Augusta closes down that week. Schools, etc. In fact, many, many of the locals leave town and rent out their homes to people going to the Masters. If you think that pricing is right up there for Disney, one should compare it to the Masters. Things are almost free at Disney by comparison. I could have gotten thousands for my unlimited pass and just left town on the first day. Good thing that I'm honest.

It's funny how this morning I was in a mood to clean everything in the house. Now that I'm home and can relax I have no such determination. Instead I'll be working on my schedule for next semester sometimes within the next few hours. That's always a boatload of fun and very little amounts of stress are present during that time period.
