Okay Peeps - I need some advice.

If I report something to my boss, she is either going to shrug it off (not at all likely) or she is going to lose her freaking mind.

The situation involves my ever more forgetful, ever more cantankerous partner G.

Things have been really slow the past two weeks. Absolutely dead yesterday, with a few people coming in early today. Then, while I was in the office finishing up a deal mid-afternoon, we got slammed!

Four groups of people, all legit buyers, were there forever. They had many questions, most of which G could not answer. No biggie. He dealt with any new people coming in, and I juggled the 4 couples.

At one point, he left the floor and went in the back room. As I have mentioned before, I have acute hearing, and I clearly heard the pop top of a carbonated canned beverage. G does not drink soda pop.

When he comes out, I can clearly smell toothpaste (and beer) and he has sprayed the whole back room with Febreze Air Effects. G is a drinker, and often brings Heineken tall cans (500 ml) to work to enjoy after hours. I have never known him to drink in the middle of a shift, however. And certainly not while I am trying to nail down 5 deals. (All coming in tomorrow at 6:30 BTW.)

After G returned to the floor, the Builder came in. I pulled him into the office to ask him a question. (He does not like Purchasers to know who he is, so I always ask him things in private.). He immediately commented on the air freshener smell being a little heavy.

When hubby came to pick me up (an hour late!) I was still working on another deal, and G pulled hubby into the back room and tried to get him to have a beer with him. Hubby declined, pointing out that there were people in the office, and that he had to drive.

Here's the dilemma. Do I mention it to my manager? If she reacts the way I think she will - buh-bye G.
I could escape the nuclear fallout if she confronted G saying the Builder smelled beer in our office. Everyone knows I don't drink, so there is zero chance that I would be imbibing at 4:00 in the afternoon.

G is becoming almost impossible to work with. He argues about everything! And now, he is drinking on the job, while the Sales Presentation area is completely slammed, and I'm trying to nail down offers. The boss said that if G starts costing deals, then he is 100% gone. Sadly, I think we are nearly there.

What say you all?

I would definitely report him. The reputation of your company is at stake here.

So remember how I was debating on Dumbo vs. Tron: Legacy on Disney Movie Rewards? Well, I ended up going with Dumbo. The reason being that Tron: Legacy is available using my points while Dumbo is not, and I want to start building my movie collection NOW so that when I move out/hopefully do the CP I have a bunch that I can take with me. I'm not allowed to take any of the Disney ones unless I bought them (or in the case of Frozen and Tangled, I'm the only one who watches them). So now I'm just waiting for Tron to come down in points. I don't want to completely use up the funds on my American Express gift card just yet...

If you are anything like my son when he did his CP, when he was off work he was out having fun, enjoying the place and didn't spend much time in his apartment other than to crash.

If he is abandoning you during busy times to drink, something needs to be done about it. Especially with all the other crap you have mentioned about him. You are already a much more patient person than I am.

At this point he is not functioning in a manner that is anything other then destructive to the company. It is unforgivable to be drinking on the job, under any circumstances, but when customers are out front. No, uh uh! There is more to think about then just poor old Mr. G. How about the builder, your boss, yourself, the customers that are looking for a home to buy.

You have given him all the rope he needed and now he is hanging himself with it. It's time to cut bait before something much more serious happens and jeopardizes everyone. I know you feel bad for him, but honestly, he is making his own bed here. You are not responsible for him and covering for him isn't helping anyone. I think you know that this has to be reported, it won't be easy, but, it must be done and now, in a form, you have backup, that being the builder. He has a lot invested in this project, I'm sure... he doesn't need to suffer financially because this guy has waited way to many years to retire. We all reach a point, at sometime, where we are no longer able to handle working life, this is his time.

When you're the leader, you don't have to follow.
Thanks guys (and gals) for your input.

Time to be honest.

I am now at the point where I care less that he may be let go, and more that I don't end up bearing the brunt of his vitriol when he is canned.

I'm not even sure that there is another person available to work with me. They will have to hire someone.

I am thinking. Thinking hard. In the meantime, I want to vomit, and need some Gaviscon.

Haha true, but I'll still need to be taking classes while I'm down there (some of their courses fulfill my major requirements, so they'll transfer back, so I'll need to take 2-3 while down there), plus I have religious obligations, so I expect that there will be a few nights where I come back and chill for a bit. Plus, I am not crazy, therefore, you will not find me in the parks during MLK weekend/other crazy periods unless I'm in World Showcase plopped down with my tablet enjoying the view and working on something, or at one of the resorts enjoying the view and working. I considered going to college near WDW, we've already discussed how I'd spend my free time down there (Mom: Just make sure that you're not spending so much time at WDW that you neglect your school work!). I realize that I am there to build a relationship with the company, to figure out if I like working for them, and to hopefully come back and build a career if I do like it.

Time to say sha-bye-bye! Agreeing with what others have said but also adding with his age and drinking, what if he were to have an accident while on the job? What if he had been drinking and may have to go run an errand while still on the job and hurts someone then that someone will sue the pants off your company?

When you're the leader, you don't have to follow.
Assuming they hire the right person who works hard, that person will be more deserving of the job than someone who basically isn't doing the job.
It would certainly take some of the pressure off of me.

A full fledged partner who can actually close deals, do paperwork, work a full shift, and go to Head Office once in a while - priceless.

People have to realize at this point in this economy that they are expendable. If you want to keep your job, you have to show that you are valuable. There are a lot of people waiting to replace you if you aren't.

Yup, and they can't expect that just because they've been there for a number of years means that they can stop doing their job and still stay.

A hard copy of Sharknado? ;)
Reminds me, someone posted a very good mock up of a frozen VHS.
I wonder if someone would do a Sharknado once.. just for and giggles.

Some of your relatives leave theirs open in WDW. :p
They probably are nudists!

But you know those Canadians, eh?
So, it was all a clever RUSE?

I took 714 with my iPhone 4 in June of '13. We also have 267 PP pics. Plus, there were at least 5 other smart phones on the trip and 2 regular cameras. I think we calculated that we ended up with about between 35-3700 pics from that trip.
I've pretty much posted all I can from my phone in the Photo of the Day section. I'm still playin' a little bit in the Photo Association thread, though. :)
3700 pictures??? I would hate to have to arrange, filter, crop and fix all that many! XD

I'm officially big-time on Twitter now. I have two spam followers. #success

I also have one tweet. #hashtag

PS- Yes, I am procrastinating my homework. In reality I probably won't do anymore tonight and put it off until tomorrow. Stupid laziness Meg!!
now you just need a tumble account to become the ultimate trashcan blogger!

My favorite picture I've ever taken is at that kind of an angle, too. I kind of want to get it put on a canvas or something. This one I didn't plan, I was just walking through the castle, turned around, looked up, and took a picture.

View attachment 50129
Speaking of castle pictures.. I noticed one of the photos you took had the silver paint in a few of the tops.
did they finish when you were there?

Premixed? They've always poured mine fresh when I went...
I watched them make mine last few times. Must be a very recent change for the worst if true.
an expensive bar now reselling premixed stuff? wow!

I was nervous about the Macon game today, but it looks like we have this under control!

I wasn't aware McGruff the Crime Dog did undercover work as a pimp during his early days.
Maybe the economic depression was hard on him, and he had to work fulltime as a pimp?

I think I would have liked you as a waiter!
Then thats it!
This person will be OUR waiter if some day we make a SAGETEER convention.

Debating if I'm going to make hot wings and a burger and fries for dinner...

Or if I'm going to make the Lamb Chops I bought...
do both.. be brave.. and bold ;)

I think I'm off to sleep. Didn't get a solid night's sleep last night with the traveling and have to be up at 6:30 tomorrow for real life. :grumpy:

Good night all!
good night!

My son carried 12 hours down there in the CP. He came back with a 4.0 for the semester Best term he had.
