I didn't know it was referencing Jesus. It would make sense, though. More sense than throwing a random baby in a cake. We've gone with a Mardi Gras theme.
A baby Jesus figurine is often hidden in the Mardi Gras cake. Or so I read.
Yes, some cultures have King cakes for Epiphany.I didn't know it was referencing Jesus. It would make sense, though. More sense than throwing a random baby in a cake.
^ That might be interesting for people reading the live feed!
I was going to go make tea, but now I think I'll wait.
Is Steve watching? Will there be a big announcement? Dancing chickens? Rhubarb?
Borrow.
Steal is such a harsh word.
We just passed the 1,000,000 mark!
In France they have the "Galette de Rois" on Epiphany. It translates to King Cake, but it's not like the Mardi Gras cake. Instead it has apples in it. Instead of a baby, they put a bean inside, and whoever gets the slice with the bean is "king for the day" or something like that. I don't like it as much as the Mardi Gras cake, though.Yes, some cultures have King cakes for Epiphany.
Putting the baby Jesus in the oven actually sounds slightly worse...I didn't know it was referencing Jesus. It would make sense, though. More sense than throwing a random baby in a cake.

Here's a picture of the Epiphany King Cake.
We have this every year in French, too.
Don't let the apple part fool you. It has plenty of sugar and cinnamon in it.Yet another reason why the French are healthier than us.
I actually bought and had shipped a king cake from a place in New Orleans. I wasn't expecting it to weigh ten solid pounds. Pretty sure 9 of that was sugar.
It was the most incredible king cake I've ever had.
I like the sticker in the bottom left with the hamburger motorcycle. Pretty classy.
