We stayed at Pop last year during Mardi Gras and they were passing out beads. We ate dinner at Garden Grove and they were passing out beads. That night we went to see Yehaw Bob and they were passing out beads. We came home with 14 strings.I forgot about Mardi Gras again... Does anyone have some beads I can borrow...

Mobile is the home of Mardi Gras....New Orleans just made it famous.

The green can be reused on St. Paddy's Day. Otherwise the mix of colors is to just be festive.

The three main colors of Mardi Gras are Purple Green and Gold.
Purple stands for justice, green for faith, and gold for power.
Other than that, it's all just for fun.

Actually, I remember that from our visit to POFQ to get beignets this fall.
Those beignets were absolutely delish. Right up there with Dole Whips, School Bread, Ooey Gooey Toffee Cake, and Hatter's favourite, The Magic Cookie Bar.

I KNOW what kind of bird that is.
I remember it from my sophomore year of French.
I liked the beignets at POFQ, but they are nothing like real beignets. Real ones are so much better. Every Mardi Gras we'd make them from scratch in my French class. I looked forward to that day every year!
My French teacher actually gave me a little recipe booklet thing that had all of the recipes we used during that class. Attached to it is a little key chain of the Eiffel Tower and it was bought in Paris. She said she just liked to give those out to a few of her students when they graduate. It made my day as she was such a huge influence in my life.
