A couple people got that in my art class, too. Their phones didn't sound, though.

Four for Four here "sounded." All 4 iPhones were on vibrate and sounded, we had to physically answer the alert to stop the sounding. I talked to my son who's phone is still on our plan, so tied to N.Illinois, his sounded in a meeting today in Florida. Now that these are going to include extreme weather alerts, we will have to do some adjusting to his iPhone 'cause he isn't going to be amused to be wakened to a storm in Illinois in the middle of the night.

I'm sure they are going to have to do some fine tuning to this system and possibly add some more options.

Tonight after rain I can now see some of Goofy's shirt and Tigger's paws. Baby Steps.

So this is your fault? Everyone knows that leaving decorations out after Jan. 1st just begs for more winter. You know, White Christmas and all. Find a way to take in all the decorations and spring will be back in short order.

We are not late taking the decorations down, we are early for Christmas 2014. Merry Christmas one and all.

Hope they are still plugged in so they don't float away down the street when it all melts.

My DH mounted these dudes to 3x3 pieces of white plywood so they don't blow over in the wind, something that wasn't a possibility this winter. These Disney dudes cost a pretty penny back then so my DH has a cable that runs through all of them and a padlock from the back and it is tied under the post to the picket fence, so they are not going anywhere. This is only the second year these dudes are there.

We had a beautiful 150 foot Christmas Tree in the front of the yard with the bottom branches removed about 20-25 feet, they use to live under the tree on pine bark and didn't get much snow on them in years prior. Sadly Straight Winds tipped that Christmas Tree 2 years ago and it was slightly leaning towards my DS bedroom. We couldn't chance it falling and taking out half the house. Our home is on a former tree nursery. When they took down the tree it broke my heart, they estimated it to be between 100 and 125 years old so the house was built around this tree and also a huge tree on the back of our property. Kinda cool they left the trees on my road when they subdivided the property and some homes were built. At least I still have one of the originals.

I think I just figured out what my problem with the winter Olympics is compared to the summer Olympics. In the winter, there aren't as many "face-to-face" competitions where the athletes are on the same field/court/etc. I get bored watching one person go, then the next, then the next. I like where multiple teams/athletes are competing against each other at the same time. I think that's why I like beach volleyball, speed skating, etc so much. And that's probably why I find figure skating, alpine skiing, etc, relatively dull.

As painful as watching golf.

Wow! Thanks, Gabe! :)
But, yes, a lot of times the really crazy-cool stuff is client motivated. Don't misunderstand, we come up with enough on our own, mind you, but, the client likes to be in on it and they have plenty of ideas of their own. It is up to us to make it happen design-wise, though.
I'll give you an example of one that, although was more practical than you'd think and most of the details had been worked out, never happened. At least, as far as I know...designed around the time of the economy tanking...might have to ask, actually. o_O
Anyway, the house was on 100+ acres here in Central Texas. On the property were 2 old, abandoned granite quarries. They were planning on building a lavish party complex on the rim of one of them. We designed the building AND what they requested along with it...
They wanted a way for themselves and guests to be able to drive down into the quarry and be able to park their cars in a drive-in theater type setting. Cool enough. The kicker...
They wanted to be able to view movies on a large, smooth, waterfall water screen on the quarry wall!!! :joyfull: :)

Hmpf. I can do it much cheaper. My folks summer house out in Galena IL, near the Mississippi River has an old barn on it. You can project any movie onto the old white barn doors. The gravel drive is wide enough to handle all the guests, rocks could be granite. There is a natural waterfall over the barn doors when it rains. Galena has some massive hills so they can just pretend they are in the quarry while they are down in the valley. Done.

I was going to bring my unicycle back up from the basement after the warm up the past few days, and then the weatherman told me it was going to get back down into the teens again. I want summer!!!

Yep, tomorrow is our last day above freezing, 34. Then nose diving, next week subzero nights. I got a new bike rack and I want to use it. We have some beautiful bike trails I can't wait to get back onto.
