My son was a late bloomer too. He wouldn't even ride his tricycle without his "Kneebow pads and elbow pads"
Cute!

Also, "kneebow" sounds like someone with a cold trying to say "Nemo".

Oh I understand the crowded thing. My mom's class size every year was 30-35 students. They had to put their boots under their desk. My daughter class size--17 students. To be fair, most classrooms are crowded and don't necessarily have room for boots of 20+ students. And as a teacher, I wouldn't want the mess that boots leave in my classroom. But the janitor shouldn't have just thrown them away.
Now is your opening, @Goofyernmost, give her the chocolate now!@Soarin' Over Pgh Here's something jacked up that happened to us Wednesday. My daughter got off the bus not wearing her boots. I wasn't stern but asked why she didn't have them on and she starts crying. I apologized (because I thought she was upset with me) and we walked to the house in snow up over her ankles. Crying, crying, she gets in the house, collects herself and told me Mom, someone stole my boots at school. This is second grade!
For some idiotic reason if you wear boots to school and change to sneakers, you are not allowed to bring the boots into the classroom, they have to stay out in the hall on the floor..you know where anyone can can take whatever they want....and they did! I was p**sed because they weren't that old and they were expensive. Plus the fact only 1st and 2nd grade are in her wing so it had to be another young kid!
This was right at the end of the day and she said the teachers looked around and found nothing. So I called the school right away but everyone had left for the day. I called the very next morning to follow up and got the run around. "Things like that happen." WELL not if they were allowed to keep their personal stuff IN the classroom! SO I called the Superintendant's office. They couldn't believe the boots were taken and said they would follow up on it. (I'm still angry.) Later that afternoon I got a call from daughter's school. They had found her a pair of boots to replace the ones that were stolen. (Funny how their tune was changed after calling THEIR boss.) The boots are not new but it's something on her feet. "They will still look for her original boots." Yeah, sure.
Then yesterday my mom picked my daughter up from the afterschool honors program when she sees the janitor. She figured she'd mention the missing boots. "Yeah pink boots? I found them behind the garbage can in the girls room so I threw them away." Not oh I did my job and put them in the lost and found! Freaking idget. Now I have to fill out complaint forms at the board of education because that janitor threw them away, a violation of his employee handbook. Idget! If he had just put them in the lost and found, she would have got them the next morning and it would have been all good.

I made bacon pancakes for dinner.Have I mentioned that I love bacon?
Truly, it is bacon (and sausage and steak) that prevent me from becoming a vegetarian.
And eggs. And cheese. And milk. And pork chops.
And bacon.

I would, but, I really can't live up to that kind of reputation. Now is your opening, @Goofyernmost, give her the chocolate now!
Considering our age difference, I'm sure that we have been labeled already. She would have to be a Golddigger (which I am sorry to report was a dry stake. Ain't no Gold in them thar hills.) and I would be a dirty old man. (yet another slam projected to males). Were the age reversed, she at least would be a cougar, which is "you go girl" worthy and at least semi-respectable. There apparently aren't any "dirty old women". The injustice of it all!Aw... now WITWIBS has a romantic plot-line. This thraed truly has everything.
Oh, man...I think I'm in love!I made bacon pancakes for dinner.![]()

When I was in elementary school, we had lockers in all but 4th grade (though the school looked like it was renovated in recent years, can't remember if it actually was). In 4th grade we had hooks in the hallway and a cubby hole above it. That part of the school was older. As for the hallway placement of boots, I tried to think back to my own childhood about this. As I recall, we either had our boots lined up on the inside wall of our classroom, under our coats that hung on pegs on the wall. Or in some grades, we had lockers. I wonder why your daughter's school doesn't have lockers?
Hate to burst your bubble...Not a cougar.(My daughter's father is ten years younger than me. )

In the school that I tutored in last semester, the 2nd graders had hooks and a cubby out in the hallway. Their boots went out there as the room was crowded enough with 22 kids and everything else.
It's not that uncommon for elementary schools to have hooks instead of lockers, at least from my experience.
I remember losing some things in elementary school. I don't believe any of it was intentional, though. Sometimes kids just pick something up thinking it's theirs, and don't realize until later that it isn't.Thank you for your input. Guess I must have been lucky with the elementary school I attended as a kid. I never recall anyone losing any item of clothing or boots. Again, maybe that was because they were visibly located in the classroom or put in lockers. Maybe things have changed in schools now.
