I live in Wyoming, Michigan. It is a suburb of Grand Rapids, Michigan. The birthplace of former President Gerald R. Ford.

Hey tigsmom, we watch American Chopper all the time. My boys love Orange County and want to visit just because of that.

Shifnal, in Shropshire,

Wow, try saying that ten times fast after a trip to the pub!!!

I'm from Danbury, Connecticut, which is on the western border of the state with New York. I'm probably 20 miles east of you folks from Westchester County New York. I'm sure you've all visited the giant mall here that replaced the state fair grounds back around 1980. Now we're just the shopping capital of Farifield County.

Wckd Queen, you're right about the cost of living, but here's a thought: I've calculated that we've owned our home for about 12 years now. The property value has increased so much that I can actually sell the house, pay off the mortgage, and pay CASH for one of the nicer houses in Celebration, FL. Don't think that we're not seriously considering this for a couple of years down the road!

I even went to the same college as him...WPI. Sorry to ramble but there isn't very many good things about this aweful city. But I will soon be moving back to Connecticut.

Nikechic, if you're looking for a house in Connecticut, I have a nice oversized raised ranch with an in-ground pool and an in-law apartment that I will sell you real cheap :D .

You get to keep the in-law too!!!

I used to always stop and pick up a couple of cds at Bear Mtn Books! Always found some great classical and jazz cds! Oh, I avoid WC like the plague around the holidays. I wont even go over the TZ bridge to the Palisades Center!

Btw, listening to Bernie Williams right now...never guess he was an outfielder for the Yankees!

Miles1, Im so old, I distinctly remember going to the old Danbury Fair on what, if memory serves, would have been Columbus Day (a day off from school in October), and we always had sausage and peppers for lunch :) We miss the old fair, but then if it hadnt closed, there wouldnt be a Build~A~Bear for me to visit :)

And you are right about the property values! My father bought his house in 1972. We check realtor.com every once in a while to get a feel for the value. Lets just say that no matter what it sells for, its a definite return on the investment. Dads quite happy about that :D

(omg! Im a posting machine here! )

This is actually the 3~song cd they gave away at the Stadium the other night. My neighbors kid went, and he gave the cd to me because he knows Bernie is my favorite player, which was sweet. Its not bad at all. We are in agreement here at work that we like "Bernie Jr." the best out of the 3. I might just have to go get the whole cd! :)

Ok, back to work!! :(

You are certainly not that old just because your remember it! We probably passed each other there on Columbus day. God, I miss that fair. It was almost like having a small WDW in the back yard.

Although, My son has been spending a chunk of his college education money at Build-a-Bear. (Is it me or are the employees there a little weird?)

If you're looking for something to do with kids, the Bridgewater fair is something like the old Danbury Fair on a smaller scale, and its coming up the weekend of August 15th. It's an easy drive about 20 or so minutes beyond the mall from New York. If you're interested, feel free to contact me for directions. My family usually makes a day out of it.
