Where do you leave the mousekeeping tip?

I have left my mousekeeping tip in different places before and have come back to the room later in the day to find that money sitting on the dresser. Like they thought I dropped it on accident.

So WHERE is the best place to leave your daily tip? I don't recall seeing an envelope or a special dish. Do you leave a note with it?

I leave the mousekeeping tip in my wallet.

Seriously, I keep a clean room to begin with. I feel that if I were to start tipping them I should be tipping the lifeguard for keeping me safe, the bus driver for not wrecking, and the common area custodians for keeping me from stepping in stuff.

I'm having to swallow the mandatory sit-down restaurant tip I will experience soon because we have a party with 4 adults & 2 infants on our next trip.

Tipping a full 18% on alcohol is not something I normally do but I will be on this trip thanks to the rules.

Just ask yourself WWASD? And then go to the bar, fetch your own drinks and not tip the bartender at all! While you're there help yourself to complimentary nuts or mints! Or hey! Howzabout a flask? It's not against the rules if they don't catch YOOOOOUUUUUUU!

*I* like to steal their wallets when they're not looking, then spend it on McDonald's for MEEEEEEEEE :sohappy: I got the idea once whilst putting out a campfire! And, like you, I'm a stranger on the internet, so I know what I'm talking about and there's no incentive to lie!

MY vacation!

Shorter for some of us than others. I mean, sometimes I worry you may lick an electrical outlet or think a skull and crossbones on rat poison just means that only cool people drink it. I worry about ya, bro...can I call you bro? I mean, I know I'm not in your elite fighting squad of ninja hippos, but I got your back...

I always tip housekeeping, no matter where they stay. I used to tip on the last night, but recently (thanks to advice given here) began tipping each night. As to how much, I read somewhere that $1 per guest per night is the standard. I usually leave $5 per night.

no, dont worry about me. Its MY resposibility to ensure me/my families future.
Individualism, thats what built this nation, and our founding Fathers spoke of it.
But, if you want , you MAY call me bro. and, if you like, Cincy will be testing for "fire recruit" in late July. If you can "pay the toll" as the old timers say... you too can be a Professional Firefighter.
P.S. Get your Medic Cert. or be a Veteran, its mighty tough to get on if your not one of those two.

We actually prepare our Mousekeeping tips before we even leave home. I do up an envelope for each night that we are going to be staying so 8 nights means 8 envelopes. I do up a labels that say "Mousekeeping" for each envelope and decorate them with Disney stickers. I put in the tip for each night, seal it and pack it in my carry on then when I get to my hotel, I put the envelopes in our safe. Then each night before we go to bed, we pull out one envelope and leave it in the sink area near where the Mousekeeper has left her card. That way we don't forget when we're trying to get out of the room in the morning. When we come back each night the envelope is gone.

You need to make sure that you indicate somehow that the money is intended for mousekeeping otherwise they won't take it. We used to just leave it under their name card before I started doing envelopes.
This is also what I do and leave the envelope between the two sinks at POR.

How much money does everyone usually leave per night? I never know how much I should tip!
$1 per person per day
Mousekeeping is a non tipped position at WDW.
They are union employees that make appox 12-13.00 per hour, or more.
Actually, it is a good job to have at the "world" some will say, MUCH better than a basic C.M.
And, they have opportunities to make more through incentives.
This was a topic on a pod cast from another site.
the mousekeepers dont even keep the tip (or arent supposed to).:ROFLOL: Note to: IRS
I beleive all the tips they do get is supposed to go into a "pizza fund" silly, but im pretty sure thats where they go.
but in any case, Tipping the mousekeeper is not expected.

Huh???

Agreed! Someone offers you a helping hand, you slap it away! That's why I always tell firefighters to get lost when they try to stop a fire. If you were smart enough to start the fire, you're smart enough to stop it! There shouldn't be ANY public services at all! Fend yourself! Wild West Style! You and me, brotherman, we're just two good ol' boys! never meanin' no harm!

I stay at Fort Wilderness. No tipping necessary because the "mousekeepers" there stay out of your RV. Not to mention it's much much cheaper to stay there than anywhere else on property.

Just as I don't want my waiter spitting in my drink, I don't want my room maid wiping down the drinking glasses with the toilet brush. If you are OK with that risk than go ahead and stiff 'em on the tip.

In my wallet

we tip a little, but we found that we really don't want them in our room every day.

we don't like our blankets tucked so far up under the mattress we can't get them out and once I get my pillows how i like them I don't like anyone messing with them.
for this trip coming up in sept which will be 8 days, they may clean 3 or 4 of them.

An admirable stand you take. Just make sure you look twice at that drinking glass before you sip. Better sniff the sheets too. Of course if you stiffed the skycap at the airport too, you probably don't have to worry about what the maid does to your clothes since your luggage is probably lost somewhere on the other side of the country.
