Good Morning All. Just one simple question, have you ever seen something on a menu ( food or drink. ) at WDW that you say " No way am I paying for that " I know that food & beer is more expensive inside the bubble,I expect that, but I was having a cool beer at the Rosé & Crown and perusing the menu when I saw it was $37.00 for a 2oz pour of Johnny Walker blue label. Thats like £24.50 for a nip in my country.Whit!!! I would say its the only thing Ive came across that I would give the thumbs down, price wise.So have you came across anything you consider outrageous in the food & drink department?

Heck, we cancelled our ADR for Le Cellier for that exact reason. If there's something I can't get at home, or a dining experience that we really want to experience, then maybe we'll weigh the idea/price. Thank goodness few places made our cut!

Here is a list of pours available @ Mizner's. How about that Louis XIII for $255 for a 2oz pour!

Cognacs (2oz)

Courvoisier XO $29
Grand Marnier 100 yr. $29
Grand Marnier 150 yr. $37
Hennessy XO $32
Hennessy Richard (1oz.) $175
Remy Martin VSOP $17
Remy Martin Louis XIII .5oz. - $70 | 1oz. - $135 | 1.5oz. - $195 | 2oz. - $255

There are a lot of things thaqt I feel are just too expensive. Here are just a few.
  • Mickeys Backyard BBQ where you pay $54.99 for your 10 Y/O to eat $3 worth of food and then you have to literally prepare for war with other parents in order for you child even get close to the characters. Thank goodness that the beer and wine are free flowing so I don't remember all of it.
  • Breakfast buffets for $25+??? Outside WDW you get a good room with free all you can eat breakfast for under $50. Breakfast is the cheapest meal to put on for a restaurant and they can somehow demand good money and have a 6 month ressie backlog
  • Bottle of water for $2.50. You can buy a case of 24 for $6.50
  • $6.00 for a 12oz Bud Light?? $8.50 for 12oz Import beer?

We need time for things to happen.
When I'm vacation I rarely look at the prices of food and beverages. I know I'm getting rooked in most cases but so be it - I only do it once a year so I'll be my frugal self the other 355 days of the year.

WITH THAT BEING said...I stay away from a pour of straight liquor while on vacation at WDW I can barely handle the prices of shots locally...especially with top shelf liquors. For the record: Not a big Scotch fan..I prefer a fine bourbon (rip van winkle anyone?)

The year before last we went on vacation to WDW with our best friends. My buddy and I ended up at La Cava..
He's a big spender of sorts, and we saddled up to the bar and my pal says "surprise me with 2 glasses of your finest sipping tequilas". Before pouring anything the gentleman behind the counter was kind enough to inform my buddy that they had tequilas ranging from 18 to 70 dollars per glass in the "finest" range...
We got the $18 dollar variety. ;)

PS - it was delicious.

It would be a dream to eat at Victoria & Albert's. I just can't spend the money.

The Pre Fixe menu cost with wine parings @ Victoria and Alberts Chefs Table starts @ $315.00 per person. If you add on a couple of their special food offerings during your meal you can easily add on another $100 - $200 per person but this changes daily and depends on the menu prepared each day. Then add in your tax and gratuity and you could be over $1000 for a dinner for two. Granted that this is the chefs table and regular seating for the Pre Fixe menu and wine parings is only $190.00 to start and then a couple of those special food offerings with tax and tip and you could hit $700.00.

I can feed the entire family for 3 - 4 days in WDW for that kind of money and eat quite well. The biggest splurge we have done was Bistro de Paris for my wife and I and it was about $225 total and while it was good, it was not wrth throwing that kind of money out.

It is all personal perception. We do not have a lot of disposible income and are really tight with a dollar. I have to assume that if I did have disposible cash that I would be more inclined to throw money at a fancy meal.

Whoo Hoo! A man after my own heart..I was at a malt whisky tasting event years ago,I preferred the $10 malt to the $100. Not because of the price, but the aroma and taste.;)

indeed, when it comes to Van Winkle line of Bourbons, I tend to be a bigger fan of the less expensive10 year than the more expensive 12, 15, 23 year. (the 20 year is nice though). Hmm..I'm salivating and my taste buds are jumping right now.

I am horribly ashamed to say that I do NOT recall.

I did have it in my phone because I knew I'd forget and when I synched my data and wiped my phone a few months back all my notes along with half my contacts went poof.

If their drink menu is out there somewhere I should scan it and see if it triggers anything.

Shookie, I am horribly disappointed in you! :D Did you say list? Not all, but some. There are just too many.

Del Maguey Tobala Blanco $19
Del Maguey Vida Blanco $10
Ilegal Blanco $12
Ilegal Reposado $15
Ilegal Anejo $24
Los Amantes Blanco $11
Los Amantes Reposado $13
Scorpion 5 Years Anejo $28
Scorpion 7 Years Anejo $30
Sombra Blanco $12
Vida Blanco $11
Zignum Blanco $9

Maybe from one of the fights

Supreme Tequila Flight - $69
Herradura Seleccion Suprema Anejo, Casa Dagrones Joven, 1942 Don Julio Anejo, Partida Elegante Extra Anejo, Don Julio Anejo Special Edition 70th Anniversaryr

Not as ashamed as I am of myself...haha trust me on that one.

These are the two that are sparking my memory..

Namely because I thought remember both a "los" and "Blanco" in the title.
It did resemble a white wine in color so maybe the Blanco being the one closest to the price
point of 18 bucks may be the winner winner tequila dinner.

Los Amantes Reposado $13

Del Maguey Tobala Blanco $19

Very difficult to find..To my knowledge usually only "comes out" twice a year.

My big spending best friend spends a good 800 - 1000 dollars buying up all the bottles he can whenever it becomes available.

A friend of ours moved to Kentucky and is unable to get it any easier there!!!

I try to forget the cost on vacation. Seeing the price only kills the good vibe I get when I'm away. Not that I'm wasting money and yes I have limits, but when we hit WDW, we know our wallet will take a beating. To avoid the money issue, we started setting more aside each month for gift cards. Having them up front is like prepaying for all of your meals. Avoid that menu shock
