the year 9570-
all of man kind is gone-
nota single life force anywhere to be found.
a scout craft from the planet zarsus lands to do scientific exploration on the once thriving planet earth.after 2 years of searching for answers on what the human existance was all about the discover something.......
they take it back to their ship to scan this artifact to take back to their supreme being for some answers...

their highly accurate computer lets the aliens know the answer to what they have found that might have a clue as to what the human race was all about------
WHAT THEY HAVE FOUND WAS A PAIR OF MICKEY MOUSE EARS FROM DISNEY WORLD

Disney is one of the top five media companies in the world, along with AOL Time Warner, Viacom, Vivendi, etc... Therefore, they are one of the biggest companies in the world, period. We can expect Disney for a long time...

hopefully disney will be around forever but i dont think it will happen. maybe a hundred years more at most but since im always wrong ill say disney ends when the ice caps melt and all of florida is covered in water

I think the parks are still very popular, and if disney as a company would end I am sure another company would step in to aquire them. Lets hope that dosn't happen.

I'm gonna go all scientific for a second :)

As "global warming" causes the waters of the Atlantic to rise on the east cost, the waters on Euorpe's west coast are actually falling, so...

Just a bit of info, seeing as cleaner burning cars are coming out each year, the odds of the ice caps melting in becoming smaller and smaller :)

Has anyone ever seen Escape from L.A.?

The story is that L.A. has been turned into a deportation point for criminals after its ravaged by earthquakes and flooding. (we also get to see Universal Studios in an underwater sequence)

During the movie, Snake Plissken (Kurt Russel), Steve Buscemi, and Pam Grier are flying over Anaheim when they notice something: A theme park with a castle, a giant white mountain, and a train going around it, with a main street leading to the hub.

Snake: Hey, is that what I think it is?
Steve: Yeah. The place kept changing owners. Finally went bankrupt. The place in Paris killed them.

Disney will NEVER, EVER, EVER end....and if it does happen after I'm dead, I'll come back and hurt the person who did it. J/K. But I would be very mad.

Whoever would shut Disney down should go see a shrink.:hammer:

I don't think Disney will end in our lifetime but they could take a serious hit movie and character wise unless they re-up with Pixar. Those movies have been the most successful for them over the past couple of years, with a small exception for Lilo and Stich. If they don't re-up with them and improve the animation, the movie side will suffer greatly. They need contuining characters that all the kids love. Once the baby boom is gone, sad to say, the kids won't identify with the "classic" bunch. :(

I thought of the Hersheypark comparison too, but someone beat me to it. It's not THAT small of a park these days, probably more rides than any single Disney park. I'm sure there are other parks that have been around for 100 years or so too. Considering the seasonal nature and population/tourism stats of its location Hersheypark does quite well.

 You serious? They almost closed it? Man, I knew that they were in trouble back then, but I didn't know that they actually considered closing WDW.
No, I don't think closing WDW was seriously considered. However, they did consider splitting the company up. So some company like Six Flags (just an example) would have potentially bought the park complex. Needless to say, WDW would not look like it does today...

At the same time, we probably wouldn't have had the revitalization of animation, and children's/family films in general. The old Disney films probably would have been bought up by Turner or a company along those lines, and I highly doubt "The Little Mermaid" would have been made...

This is kinda a sobering topic for me considering when i was growing up, i thought Opryland would always be there and i could take my kids there.. now it's just another F'N shopping mall in Nashville which we didn't need

Well said. I went to "Opryland" (that is the Gaylord Opryland hotel and shopping mall) last year, and did the whole tourist thing (Opry and all). I even listen to WSM on the internet, broadcasting from the hotel (as they are now, with the President visiting today)...
and I visited Opryland Theme Park many years ago.

So, I think I can say with confidence that, although I like the Gibson Bluegrass Showplace in Opry Mills (the mall), I liked Opryland a lot better. It made more sense.

Of course it also made sense for Gaylord to still be in the entertainment business (before selling TNN, etc.) and not just in the hotel business (uh, er... Gaylord Palms).... It would be kind like Disney deciding that they made more money from the hotels and therefore bulldozing the Magic Kingdom for a mall, but continuing to operate the Polynesian, with its magnificent view of the new mall....

Hmmmm

I for one would love the opportunity to take my future children and even my future grandchildren to Disney World, and I do hope that my dream comes true someday. However, I wouldn't be surprised if my grandchildren didn't get to take their kids there. Its just one of those things. I think the theme park idea will probably be replaced with some virtual reality technological advancement.
