When are you a Disney vet.

When, under normal conditions, you never have to wait more than 10-15 minutes for any attraction and
don't need a map and
understand free dining and bounceback and
have attended at least one special event such as MNSSHP and
have a favorite restaurant (S) or snack and
and are familiar with most of the Disney cartoon movies and
can use lingo such as CM or the above-mentioned MNSSHP

You're a Disney fanatic when any or all of this stuff comes up in your life when you aren't at Disney!

I've been twice in my life, most recently a year ago and can check off mostly everything from that list. Does that count :D

Yup. My parents have been there 4 times but could tell you nothing of the place and have never seen AK. I would not say they are vets at all. My wife and I felt we were vets after our 1st visit together in 2005.

When you've been so many times you can't include a 'trip list' on your wdwmagic signature tag because you can't remember when all your trips were; and since you can't remember, you just make up a number when replying to the automated system at 407-wdisney when it asks how many times you've visited in your lifetime; and you have "Walt Disney" entered as a contact in your phonebook on your cell phone....

However, I still can't do half of the things figment's friend listed. I feel so inadequate! Time to get to work on my memorizing....

WDW is a state of mind, once you go and start going to websites to learn more and more about it you are easily a Disney vet. Congratulations.:sohappy:

My thought of when you become a Vet. is when you come to the park countless times a year for atleast 14 years, let alone walk to the parks just to get away from life lol. Knowing the parks like its your own life, able to recognize cast memebers whether they are full or part time, able to spot out hidden spots in the parks most tourists ignore, able to ubderstand the fabrication of each and every ride(ex. mechanics, operation lingo, etc), etc. The list goes on. Imo you become a true vet. when you spend more time at disney and less in the real world lol...

AND:

-when you understand that Universal is not part of Disney World

-When you learn how to work the freakin' fast pass machines without holding up the entire line

-when you know what a Dole Whip is and where to get one

-when you understand that "NO flash photography" on certain rides and attractions means "NO FLASH PHOTOGRAPHY"!

My personal fav.

-when your kids can recite in English and Spanish word for word the monorail announcement. (oh and your kids don't even know Spanish normally).

For me I think you have become a Vet whaen you can go to the parks and instead of going on rides all the time, just find yourself wandering around and enjoying the atmosphere for everything it is!

Eh, I don't know about that. If you can't afford to go every year and only get to go every 2 or 3 years, you're ognna want to spend most of the time going on rides. Well, in my experience.

I think your'e a WDW vet when you have made some mistakes at WDW and learned from them.
Like accidentally getting on the bus going to Saratoga Springs when you wanted to go to Animal Kingdom Lodge.
Like going into the It's Tough To Be A Bug show and forgetting to get the 3D glasses.

:)

When friends told me I should be a 'tour guide' both inside the parks and outside.
I'm so torn with this..I love helping people plan their trips, but I get upset when some of them come back and complain about something, I ask if they took my advice, and they say no. :brick:

I think you're a veteran when sometimes, you know more than the CMs

I suppose your right in some instances, its person to person. I find that just wandering around is fun and perks me right up, though I do ride and visit attractions as well!
