What's Your Travel Style?

Let's say you just won $5,000 and it *had* to be used for travel. How would you best like to spend the $$$? To make it interesting the $5k can not be used at Disney (otherwise I think 99% of the people on this site would plan a trip there!!!) Some ideas:

- Take off for as long as you could to some distant place like Asia or Africa staying in the most modest of accomodations

- Go to an island & stay at the 4 Seasons for a week sipping pina coladas poolside

- Go to Vegas for a day

If you absolutely, positively can not resist then pick a Disney park but then give an alternate answer....

I'd probably do something I have already done....fave's so far are visit Singapore or Kenyan Safari / Beach Holiday.

I have always wanted to do a cross country driving trip, taking 2-3 weeks to see EVERYTHING I pass. That is my ultimate travel goal. Of course, I planned to start at WDW & culminate in CA at DL.

I would go to the Bahamas, I'd go to Hawii, but the money would last longer in the Bahamas.

Any of you have any ideas for a spanish-speaking vacation? My daughter and I are trying to learn spanish and I thought if I planned a vacation around it it may motivate both of us. We are a family of 5 and in 2003 our kids will be 8, 4 and 2 so it can't be anywhere too adventurous. One the other hand I wouldn't want to go to a place like Cancun that is all tourists. We are open but the kids ages are a bit challenging. Budget is about $4 - 5,000.

DH says we could save a bundle and just hang out in the city about 30 minutes away that has an 85% spansh-speaking population. He just doesn't get it, sigh.....

First, eliminate Cuba, hehe..... Spain is very nice, but the Catalunan Spanish is difficult to understand, especially if you are currently learning Spanish. I would personally go with Mexico, Costa Rica, or Puerto Rico.......

I have never been to Europe, and so I would love to travel to Germany and Italy. My Mom and her family were from Gernamy, and my paternal Grandfather was from Italy.

And if you're willing to stay in a standard without a view, you can afford 2 nights! I'm just joking, but it is expensive! When you factor in meals, and airfare (plus a little pocket change for the casino, day trips, shopping) that $5,000 will only last a few days. But it would be my choice, too!
