I have been fascinated by The Contemporary since my first trip to WDW. Sadly, I have never stayed for the night.

Awwwww...really??? You should treat yourself to a MK view at least for a night. Seriously. I was always fascinated, too, but staying there was an enlightening experience in ways I never would've thought of before. Yes, the visuals with the view are killer. But then there's the sounds! In the early morning as I'm busy getting ready for the day I like to throw the patio door wide open & enjoy the sounds as the 'World' slowly stirs to life outside. You can hear so many different sounds carried in the breezes. From the faint howling of coyotes when its still so early that everything else is still to the whistles of the MK train or the toots from the ferries....it's all pure heaven. I adore retro-modern design. I love minimalist and clean lines. The warm undertones in the colors used in the rooms hugs my heart. The beds are super comfy and that means something coming from a Temperpedic owner. Lol! If you're on the 6th floor MK side you can feel the gentle vibrations of the passing monorails below you which, for me, is a comfort unto itself. I totally
love the Contemporary. I can't sing it's praises enough which is why I voted for it.

I've stayed at the Poly. While the pool, dining choices, & laundry facilities wax the Contemporary, it doesn't measure up. The down comforters w/duvets, comfy beds, location, convenience, brighter more airy rooms at the Contemporary pummel the Poly for me. The room sizes are the same as the original longhouses. Space doesn't really change from 1 to the other although the Contemporary rooms feel more spacious because they're better lit and less busy.

Pretty surprising how low the GF is ranking. I wonder if this is due to the possibility that more people have stayed at the other 2 and not at the GF.

Polynesian!

I never understood the MK Views at Contemporary??! They seem to me like the most expensive parking lot views in the whole place!!

At the Poly, the fireworks are all lined up behind the castle, and the views of the Lagoon plus the Castle and Space Mtn in the background are epic.

Contemp overlooks parking lot, storage buildings, service roads, and a side view of the castle where the fireworks never quite line up right.

To each their own. But Poly for being directly across the Lagoon all the way!!

(But I much prefer an Epcot Resort compared to any Monorail Resort. :))

Yes, you can see the parking lot from the MK balcony but that's if you walk out & look down. Generally when I walk out onto a balcony I'm looking ahead. The sight line is of the other resorts across the lagoon. Once out on the balcony my eyes follow the normal sightlines over to the MK which is close, much closer than the Poly. If you're on higher floor on the corner closest to the MK the look out over the park is the best. I don't recall noticing service areas at the park with all the trees and such to buffer. Also looking down at the parking lot or over towards the bus depots & roads watching people come and go was like people watching but way better. The hustle & bustle lends well to a more cosmopolitan feel which works with the Contemporary's theme.

I also realize I don't favor the Poly largely because I'm not at all a beachy person. Lol!

We always eat at the Contemporary on every trip. Every trip I tell my wife I'll check it out and consider staying there. And every trip it's the same - Just not my thing. It reminds me too much of a business hotel I'd have a 3-day meeting at. The "bar" outside of Chef Mickey's is very cold and sterile. It just seems like a regular hotel to me. At Disney, I want theming.

The results here must have to do with the price of GF. There is no way I am going to believe this many people would rather stay at the Contemporary than the Grand Floridian if money was no object. That place is GORGEOUS, and definitely has more Disney magic than the Contemporary, IMO of course. I can see the Poly coming in 1st due to the theme and nostalgia playing a part, but the Contemporary blowing out the GF like this is just wrong.

I agree 100%. Makes no sense to me at all.

More Contemporary love from me. I mean, what could be cooler than a monorail running RIGHT THROUGH THE MIDDLE OF THE BUILDING!
It's comfy, convenient and there's Chef Mickey's -'nuff said.

I think the Contemporary's monorail station is by far the most inconvenient and problematic. Cool as it may be, I can't stand having to get on or off at that station,

As for Chef Mickey's, no thanks. I'll take Whispering Canyon, Kona Cafe, or Grand Floridian Cafe for breakfast any day.

Contemp after the refurbishment it has the best rooms of the three... and better still it is close enough you can walk to the park if the trains aren't running, and when the trains are running and you are leaving the park after a long day it is the first stop to your bed.
