Living in Wisconsin, I have to put a plug in for Wisconsin Dells, WI. This town has dozens of outdoor waterparks plus numerous indoor water parks for the cooler months. There is Mt Olympus that is a huge waterpark/theme park with 4 or 5 wooden roller coasters. They also have an indoor amusement park with a mouse type roller coaster along with an indoor waterpark.
They have a Tanger Outlet mall that is partially enclosed with a Disney Store!
Noah's Ark Waterpark is one of the biggest draws in the summer. It is widely known as America's Largest Waterpark. The Kalahari Resort has an outdoor and indoor waterpark along with a indoor theme park as well. They have an indoor water coaster, not as big as Disney's, but still cool.
Throw in some really great minature golf courses, great eating places and a Broadway type theatre along with a music venue and you have for a great time year round.

We live in Maryland so a weekend trip to Gettysburg is a great quick get away for us, usually 3-4 times a year. My family husband's family think we are crazy but there is a feeling of peace that is hard to explain that you get when walking the battlefield. Plus they have different events through the year. Key West is always fun, one of the few places in Florida that my husband will visit. Myrtle Beach and the surrounding area and the golf.

Any National Park... People should go see them. Seriously. My family is not outdoorsy at all and we have loved our trips to the National Parks. So so beautiful and amazing. Yellowstone and the Grans Tetons were particularly awesome

We're heading to Zion, Bryce, and Grand Canyon National Parks in August. Can't wait!

As for me, although I've been fortunate enough to travel many places in the world, the only other place we take repeat family trips to is Martha's Vineyard. I can recommend many other vacation destinations, but that's a favorite weekend getawway spot because it's drivable and because DH and I got engaged there.

The waterparks are great, but the theming is very plain. I know they aren't Disney and Disney has probably brainwashed me, but they could do a lot better. Mt. Olympus and Kalahari are much better themed than Noah's Ark. The Dells is a great place to go, but I wouldn't go that far out of my way to go there. I guess I don't really consider the Dells a vacation, more of just a day trip, and I don't get that excited to go there. Oh, and I should probably tell you I'm from Wisconsin, too. :p

The Kalahari is an amazing resort. My family stayed there many years ago for New Years. It was so so much fun. Excellent theming and excellent water park. We went back that next March as well because we liked it so much. And the area is great. So much to do.

Ex-Cheesehead, here- I'm more of a Door County kinda girl, myself. But then again, it was at the Dells that I discovered, I really don't like water slides and parks. Now, the ducks, I could ride those for a while.

Corsica is nice in a beach/mountain combo sort of way. Berlin is still entertaining despite the loss of the wall, and is one of the few big cities whose residents aren't up their own . But I am partial to the adult theme park that is Vegas

@Pumbas Nakasak! Been meaning to ask if you've been to Prague or the Czech Republic at all??? Reason I ask, hubby worked with a guy from there last year who really raved about how beautiful it is there because it was left untouched during the war. Then we heard that the Czech Republic is the nation that is the #1 consumer of beer per capita worldwide. Sounds like my kinda place! Curious if you'd been & what you thought!

Our favorite places to visit other than WDW are Grand Canyon, Zion Natl Park, and Yosemite Natl Park. They are all so gorgeous that you never want to leave!!

My daughter is going to Prague in March. Just for a couple days - she's heading back to St. Andrews for spring break to meet up with some of her former classmates they're making a side trip to Prague.

Prague is excellent, but, and its a big but, it is a favourite destination for stag and hen parties, so visit Mon to Fri. Used to be great value but prices have rocketed. There is plenty to see and many good places to eat drink and be a tourist. Thought the Jewish quarter was a bit over priced but you have to see it if you go. There is quite a bit of red light work, especially round Wenceslas square. Yes the beer is a big part of the trip.;)

Budapest is an alternative however.

@Tiggerfanatic, your daughter & friends are so lucky! I wish I could take a side trip to somewhere amazing like Prague! Right???

@Pumbas Nakasak, I knew you'd be a good one to ask! Must remember to treat Prague as Disneyland-like destination: best Monday thru Friday. LOL! Did NOT know that INXS video was filmed in Prague! Well, at the age I was when that was the latest-n-greatest you might as well have said to me "They're on the moon. You'll never go there." Same thing. Budapest, huh? Interesting. I really should get in touch with you. I'm looking for a couple years from now and have some destinations in mind. My hubby totally laughs at me when I talk about going to Europe because I'm like, "Well if we fly in here how will get to that other place?" not thinking how there's so many trains and stuff over there. He always chuckles and says, "You take a train. It's not like here." I always forget that part! :D Trains. Other than WDW or the mall, I've never been on a train. Isn't that pathetic????

Trains are a great idea, some great journeys, even for novelty elements, after all even the UK is connected to Johnny Foreigners rail network.
