What's up with the Fires?

I'm A Floridian less than 2 weeks away from my first ever DL trip. I'm gonna be in Anaheim on November 1 - 4. I've never been to Cali before, and all I see on the news these days are wildfires tearing through SoCal. Have these fires affected Anaheim/DL at all? If not, do they expect fires to reach Ahaheim in the near future?

I just want to make sure that my trip isn't brought to a screeching hault by mother nature.

My husband was worried, too. We aren't leaving until December, but I think he's worried that all of Ca will be burned down by the time we get there.

Unfortunately CA is fairly used to these wildfires by now. None are in the vicinity of Disneyland right now. Unless a new one started, the closest ones have too many cities to get through.

Air quality however, is another story right now. :(

Hopefully, you're ok, Tammy! Do you have any threat of being evacuated?

The closest any of these fires is to a park is Six Flags Magic Mountain (Valencia).

Ok Here is my experience from Sunday evening.
There was a fire burning in Irvine. While it in no way have the parks been threatened by fires directly, coming over the hill on Ball road the sky was ominous and the sun set was yellow and smoky.
Of course we continued onto DL.....And the winds were almost 80 MPH gusts, and the ash, dirt and soot was everywhere. My eyes were burning with ash, and my white sweatshirt was now brown. It was awful.
We managed to see some of DCA, and went to DL and had some dinner. I wouldnt do it again. I am fortunate at this time that the fires are not a big threat to us here yet. I pray for all of those who have been effected. In 2002, the fires were less than a mile from my house. Its extremely scary!

Heres a pic that heps demonstrate the air....

Anaheim/ Disneyland should never be affected by fire. If that happens, there will be cities in flames...

It will, however, be affected by all the smoke and ash. It's not fun.

I just wanted to add something here because when I originally posted this I had no idea just how serious these fires have gotten! Seeing pics and video later in the afternoon have opened my eyes to just how bad this situation is for the areas affected. The well being of the people who live there is of course far more important than the smoginess of my DL trip.

My thoughts and prayers go out to any of you who live nearby, and I hope that no one else has to be evacuated. Let's hope the Governator and everyone else involved can find a way to put these fires out!

Your thoughts and prayers are much needed over here.

No problem. We have occasional fires in the Everglades down here but those are usually so far from civilization that people's homes are rarely ever in danger. We get some smoke from them but that's about it. I had no idea that so many homes in SoCal are being hit by these fires. I also hear that the Chargers have to move their next game to Arizona and that's just not cool!

Mother Nature started this a few day ago, and she is about to end it. The winds are dying down tonight, we have one more day of hot weather, and then the temperature will be dropping by 25 degrees by Friday and Saturday with a cool, onshore flow from the ocean.

The firemen still have a few more days of hard work ahead of them to mop it all up, but Mother Nature is already changing the weather late tonight here.

As for San Diego, they will get through. That city went through a similar firestorm in the suburban hills in 2003 with thousands of homes burned. They'll get through this one too. Even though there are 350,000 San Diegans evacuated from their homes and sleeping in a stadium this week, it's not anything like New Orleans. As the mayor said today of the people sleeping in the football stadium "The people in the stadium are gracious and grateful. All is calm at the evacuation centers."

The good people of San Diego are polite, civilized and think not only of themselves. They will get through this, just as they have repeatedly in the past.

I read on another board that due to air quality/weather, there were no fireworks or Fantasmic and the parade had no show stops. Also, several rides were down for safety reasons.
