What's up with Expedition Everest?

I swear, if they run this ride into the ground, finally give it a refurb, and reopen it and the yeti is still broken...

You will go anyway, And that's the problem with us Disney fans we keep going for our 'fix' instead of saying No I'll go somewhere else till you guys fix the issues. we are not visiting this year for that very reason.

The yeti is probably getting mad for having a strobe light in his face for so long and is now putting a curse on the mountain.

Nope - More likely the poor yeti is having seizures from the Strobe light for so Long. Somebody needs to feed him some Ritalin!!

I've seen a few pics over the weekend that it's been down and it was evacuated yesterday.

Truth be known it happens possibly daily.

Nothing new.

doesnt it go down when there is lightning in the area? and if it rains over a certain amount? exposed steel Coasters go down all the time for weather... move along

After all, we're talking about Earth's highest mountain and it's located in a very remote area. Getting Sherpas up the mountain to effect repairs can take a long period of time.

I've never ridden EE in Yeti's "B" mode. Absolutely loved it when it opened.... before getting sick as hell. Can't ride it, too intense for me. (That backwards helix is brutal)

Everest is normally one of the more reliable thrill rides on property. That said even it usually goes down at least once a week.

Sitting there locked in place all these years can't be good mechanically, but they've also trained most guests to believe that's the intention while making some concerned lawyers happy as well (see Big Thunder). Hope I'm wrong!

Not sure if they actually fell, but it's been rumored that any moving showpieces above guests have come under scrutiny from lawyers fearing lawsuits. Some reports on the yeti's demise include the possibility of pieces coming off and being thrown toward the track.

I have no firsthand knowledge of this, but the changes to both attractions seem to back the claims up.

Was not any bad weather when it went down on the 13th. And when they shut a ride down for storms they don't just stop it and leave the guests on the ride as has been happening lately.

They refurb Matterhorn can't see why they can't do the same to EE.

Oh my goodness. Is that what it really does in A mode? I've been on Everest so many times over the last 10 years but have never seen anything other than Disco Yeti (that I recall). It's still a fantastic coaster (and I've been on all but the newest at Cedar Point), but that would really make it even better. Dang.

It was incredible when it opened. His movement was so real and very much made the end of the ride.

The programming gives the impression of being very toned down based on what the mech seems capable of. I'd guess the liability guys could have started their analysis sooner. If the designers had been told "too much; too close" sooner, they may have made different decisions.

I mean, the AA looks impressive. Though it's just a close up of its face so we really can't judge scale. The animation in the video clips is pretty shoddy looking though. Is this another primarily screen-based ride? I was really hoping it wouldn't be.

Wow. It's a shame they're letting that awesome beast dance with the strobe lights... that dude is COOL looking.

Is there any way that he could be moved to another area of EE? Or is he built into the rock and unable to move?
