Go to the boards! This site is wonderful to get yourself in a Disney mood. I love the "Picture of the day" thread. Just seeing some of the stuff will put you in a Disney mood.

Looking at some old Walt Disney World vacation pictures always seems to help. I also like to get out the old park maps/guides that I take home from each vacation and close my eyes and pretend that I am just entering the parks and have a full day of Disney ahead of me. I am missing it right now as well.

One of the best things is to come on these boards. It really helps to be communicating with people who share your passion for Disney. Also, YouTube is a great way to relive some of the shows and attractions at WDW. Then, Mousebits and music on my MP3 player bring me back as well.

I admire my pictures that I took and it's on my computer, like my avatar on here, and my Cinderella Castle wallpaper, etc. And looking at everyone else's pictures from Picture of the Day, and going on WDWMAGIC.
Or j8ust go on Yooutube and seeeing other people's videos of their trip or attractions. :)

Watching my vacation-video

I wanted to know what are some of the things you guys doing when your missing Disney at home. What are things that bring back the most memories that can "take you back" to WDW that you do at home...?

I am watching my selfmade WDW-videos (well actually Florida-Video but 90% ARE WDW) I made in 1991 and last summer. The 1991 video takes only about one hour (Batteries capacity were still a concern in 1991, not today however, I can film at least 5 hours per day! without having to recharge) but includes for example the entire original Illuminations that has been canceled long ago.
But mostly I watch the Big One from summer 2007.
The entire video is 7 1/2 hours long, more than 6 1/2 hours cover WDW only and it includes all 4 parks and Typhoon Lagoon. Several attractions (Haunted Mansion, Jungle Cruise, TZToT, Maelstrom, BTMR, EE, Great Movie Ride, Kilimanjaro Safaris etc. etc.) are completely covered in full length and several times (day and night). I also filmed all land outer areas and the major parades and shows (again in full length e.g. Spectromagic, Wishes, new Illuminations - my new camcorder makes VERY good quality night videos) And to make the home experience complete I filmed our hotels, Wilderness Lodge and Coronado Springs. If I watch this video or better "WDW-Vacation Movie" I feel like I am back. I also have several CDs and MP3s with more than 5 hours of WDW-Music :All attraction themes and songs, shows, tons of background music (Adventureland alone has a 45 minute loop) etc. which are quite useful to bring some WDW-atmosphere to my apartment.

However I am very sad, VERY sad (that is a BIG SAD - you get the picture) that I don't have the REAL ORIGINAL UNFORGETTABLE Tikki Room. In 1991 I missed to film it (i hate myself for this - did I already mention that I am sad about that?) and now with the "new management" I stopped the recording after the first 2 minutes. I also missed Tom-Sawyer-Island. I still didn't figure out why I missed filming it in 8 days at WDW.

To make the nostalgic feeling complete I wear my Expedition Everest T-Shirts or drink from my WDW-Megamug, use my TL-towel etc...

And sometimes I look through my 600+ fotos.

So with the more than 7 hours of WDW-footage, the merchandise and the music I am able to survive at least a while until it is time again to go "home".

The only thing that works for me more than anything is I start planning my next vacation, even if it's in it's early stages and 11 months away! I plan my attack and wait for the 180 day mark so I can make all my ADRs, so for me, I guess I just start planning! Thankfully there is a site such as this one that helps too! :)

My kids and I LOVE looking at pictures and movies from our previous visits. Such great memories!

But, what really brings me back to WDW is....Munchos. For all you kiddies out there, way back in the 70's Frito-Lay was a major sponsor in WDW. So, their chips were all over the park. Anyway, either Munchos were not available in the Northeast back then, or my mom was too cheap to buy them - but the only place we had Munchos was WDW. I open up a bag, and the smell transports me to the Diamond Horseshoe Review. Or to the time my Dad shelled out for the luau at the Poly and none of us kids liked any of the food so we had chips out of the vending machine for dinner. Ah, good times.

I try to go to DLR, but that usually puts me even further into a rut. Or I drop in here, OR I try to find a Disney special on TV. When all else fails...I get mad.
