What's the D23 Epcot Announcement that will affect call centers?

You can research religious liberties at your leisure. A politician is free to attend and participate in any religious activity they so desire, especially at a private event.

Perhaps you should read my posts on the matter again. There is a reason politicians have never been included before. I doubt there are plans to change that.

From DISBoards user 'writerguyfl':
"I used to work at the Disney Reservations Center. While this certainly could be something major, it doesn't have to be. This sort of thing was done whenever something potentially big was going to be announced. For example, I remember when "Mission: Space" was publically announced. Prior to the announcement, one of these informational meetings was scheduled for the Reservations Sales Agents.

These meetings aren't new. The fact that someone outside the company heard about them and reported them is new.

There are two reasons to keep the Call Center people well informed. First, the sales spiels are customized to highlight certain attractions based on information provided by the caller. (This is for first-time guests.) If the caller has young kids and says they heard that Epcot only has one ride for kids, the Reservations Sales Agent might mention "Journey into Imagination with Figment" and "Turtle Talk with Crush". So, if any Epcot attractions are being closed, the Agents will need to know to alter their sales spiels.

Second, social media drives our world. We have YouTubers, bloggers, and Twitterers (Tweeters?). Many of those folks will call the Disney Reservations Center trying to get details about future plans. Reservations Sales Agents are being told about future plans at these meetings. I'm also certain they are being told exactly what they shouldn't be saying. Having a Disney Cast Member saying the wrong thing to someone with a huge social media following could lead to bad PR.

Based on my experience, I don't think these meetings are a precursor to a special Epcot-specific promotion. With the various festivals, Epcot doesn't need promoting."

I find it amazing/ridiculous that some people are willing to call reservations and wait on hold for sometimes hours before talking to someone, all to build a faux vacation package and to try and bilk reps out of possible future information. Whatever gives the narcissists their clicks I suppose...

Could it be as simple as the menus for food and wine festival where released today?
Not sure people wait for this to book, but...

The speculation was that Barack Obama might read at the candlelight processional. He and Michelle Obama are neither politicians nor office holders, but private citizens. I suspect that any Disney policy of not having politicians has more to do with pleasing guests than the ACLU.

I'm just a newb to this forum, but I've been watching this thread for a while, so here's my 2 cents that may help shed some light.

From Disney Food Blog email this morning:
"Booking Dates for the 2017 Epcot Food and Wine Festival!
General booking begins THURSDAY, July 20! (Sorry about the typo in the earlier email!) So that's the date everyone can book all events.

However, we got confirmation today that on Tuesday, July 18th, several affinity groups, including Tables in Wonderland Members and Annual Passholders, and, we believe, Golden Oak Residents will be able to book select events.

We're nearly certain that Disney Vacation Club Members will also be able to book select events on that date, but we've gotten very conflicting info from DVC on this. (Some DVC phone operators have told our staff that booking begins for DVC members tomorrow, July 13th. We are nearly 100% sure that's not the case, but there you go!) Stay tuned!!

Still no word on Chase Disney Visa cardholders' ability to book early -- we'll be researching and will let you know as soon as we know."

So the EPCOT related info to the call center may just be detailing the booking info for Food and Wine Festival events.

The original poster mentioned it was specifically due to a D23 announcement. Food and Wine is a regular event and won't be a part of D23, so I doubt this is related.

And here we are on the 15th that everyone has been waiting breathlessly for and the only sound out of Disney. WRT WDW is the chirping of crickets

So was it, in fact, the Space restaurant that affected the call centers? Doesn't seem that dramatic. Yes, it looks very cool, but they've opened TS restaurants before.

Don't know how that could have been it. You can't book now.

Maybe the rumor wasn't a good rumor. Maybe they just wanted their CS staff to know what's going on so that when people call to ask for an ADR to the Space restaurant or a FP for Ratatouille, the staff knows to tell them get lost... in a nice way.
