What's the D23 Epcot Announcement that will affect call centers?

The idea of hotels in Epcot has been talked about over the years, maybe it is time.

So, if it's not the SW Resort with a direct access into SWL, then it's one of the rumored Epcot Resorts that will be built near the front gate.

Although, given the timeline to build them, I don't know what customer support can be told to tell customers except it's too early for a reservation.

That's my thought as well. Nothing that entails actual construction should have any impact on the call center.

What Epcot phone reps? There isn't an epcot specific call center.
While it's true there aren't park specific reps, a fun fact is that Guest Relation cast members only at Epcot spend half of their shift in a DRC type call center above the Guest Relations lobby fielding random dining calls.

so the new hotel will be inside Spaceship Earth? and it'll be sponsored by the Red Roof Inn?

Unless you're being very petty with semantics, I would suggest reading the thread title and original post.
I have read the thread title and the original post. I was referring to the post I quoted as well as the one below.

Possible. We know one is coming to American Adventure. But why would Epcot' call center need to tell hundreds of staff? There can't be more than a few thousand people interested, and they're not going to call at once.

Either that or maybe they will announce the SW land date which may generate a ton of interest for bookings?

It's really the only thing I can think of that would both cause a lot of calls and be mundane enough to have no CM leaks. The OP said it was Epcot announcement but maybe that was confusion.

For what it's worth I know someone in reservations line who has mentioned nothing.

Few things with that:
1) They can't possibly have the SWL date narrowed down yet.
2) SWL isn't Epcot
3) SWL at DLR is way ahead and will open first (unless they hold it to open them together, but I don't see that as realistic)
4) Its opening in 2019. They won't open 2019 bookings until sometime next year.

People get Disneyland and Disney World mixed up all the time. Any news on an opening date would likely spread like wildefire over social media, with people not paying attention to which resort will get it first.

I could see WDW's phone lines getting inquiries about "I heard Star Wars will open at Disneyland soon" and CMs having to explain the difference in opening dates.

This is truly an interesting rumor, I feel like the most plausible idea talked about on this thread is a dining package/event that has a high profile celebrity. But man you would think that would have leaked by now. The Star Wars hotel idea is a strong second. But that would be years off, so I am leaning towards something more immediate. Will be fun the next few weeks.

What would really stink if it was something horrible like all resorts are now charging for parking or adding a resort fee:( That would have a lot of ticked off people calling in complaining. So maybe they are training everyone on how to respond.

Again, the rumor is that it has to do with Epcot specifically.

Contacted the friend of a spouse of a friend and all they'd say is that they're going to be "testing something new" that requires "24 hours or less response time."
Sounds like a dining promotion. Maybe they're going to create a special Star Wars dining experience to try to draw some of the SW traffic out of DHS and get them hopping to a different park.

Hmmm interesting, usually a promotion is get people to an area that is lacking in attendance. So maybe there will be a special for dining for restaurants with unfilled tables. That's the only thing that makes sense to me if its something that is less than 24 hours notice to "possibly" book. I am sure someone smarter than me will figure it out soon.

My personal vote is its something horrible for guests and how to respond about complaints about new policy, anything else could be handled via email and video training

Im getting carpet bombed with discounts to visit WDW so i think summer is worse than Burbank anticipated
