What's the best way to get from Fort Wilderness CABINS to the Magic Kingdom.

Is there a way to get to the Magic Kingdom from the Fort Wilderness cabins by only one mean of transportation? For example, you can take the boat, but you have to first take a bus to get to the boat (I'll have 1 1/2 year old kids with me, so walking to the boat isn't going to be an option). Or, you can drive, but then have to take the monorail/ferry, etc.

Is there something I'm not thinking of?

FW has a boat that will take you directly to the front of the MK, same place the Ferry and Monorail unload from TTC. It is really a nice relaxing ride over, you will pass what is left of River Country, WL, the Contemporary, and then dock in front of MK. I would suggest that. I don't think there is a bus that goes to MK, and everything else would require you transferring to another form of transportation.

When we stayed at Fort Wilderness last June we did not have the golf cart and we *survived*, but we REALLY, REALLY wished we had rented one!

The internal bus system is fairly reliable, but can add 15 to 30 extra minutes onto your trip. It turned doing laundry into a 4 hour job (instead of the usual 1 1/2 hours) one night.

So get a golf cart if you can! I know it's and extra $50 a day, but it's worth it.

Also, our cabin was in the 2800 loop, so we could just walk to the bus stop at the front of the resort (near the reception outpost) at take the bus to MK if we wanted. But we never did because we really enjoyed the boat.

Have a great trip!

Stayed at FW a few times. never swallowed the prpoganda about golf carts, the internal buses are pretty reliable and to be honest you can even use Shanks's pony if your kids are in chairs. I know we did, a nice stroll from the loop to the dock in the cool (er) air of the morning.

We didn't rent a cart and my kids were 5 and 9. We had no problems. We rode the boat to the MK and buses everywhere else. If you are driving you can always take bikes with you to ride around the campground.

So is there definitely no bus that goes to MK from FW?

I do know we never took a bus directly to MK.

Having an 18 month old(s) (it looks like you might have more than one 18 month old?) with you though, I'd absolutely say go the golf cart route. If my kids were that age, I would.

If my kids were 5 & 9, or even the ages they are now, I would say you can do without it. (And honestly you still could) but then every trip to the pool, every trip to the laundry, every trip to get a snack or a toothbrush or whatever it is you forget/need from Meadows (which is way down there too) you'll either have to wait for the bus or walk - both of which take at least 30 minutes trip. 18 month olds don't have much patience and sometimes time is of the essence. I think it will make your trip and theirs much more enjoyable.
But that's just my 2 cents! :) Take it with a grain of salt and have a great trip!!!!

I'm aware of the boat from Fort Wilderness to the Magic Kingdom (I stayed in the Wilderness Lodge before and always saw the signs for Fort Wilderness), but my problem is, HOW to get to the dock IN Fort Wilderness. Looking on google earth, I could potentially end up in a cabin over a mile from the dock.

And by the way, in the mid '80s, when I was a kid, we stayed in Fort Wilderness (in a motor home), and I seem to remember taking a bus to the Magic Kingdom. I'm not 100% on this, but I think we were able to take a bus directly to the Magic Kingdom front door.

The bus system inside FW was revamped awhile ago, there used to be chip and dale buses to use inside the fort, they are replaced with a system of colors, one color line goes one way to the marina, etc....
To get to the marina, just find the map at the bus stops and see what color bus you need to take. From the marina take the launch to MK, it is a very pleasant ride, quick and easy.

Its really not a bad walk, or if you are able to bring or even rent a bike, its a nice ride. But let mentioned before, there is a bus that will drop you off pretty much at Pioneer Hall. Then its about a 2 minute walk to the boat dock.

My family and I have stayed in FW many times, both in the cabins and our own camper and never felt the need to spend the extra money to rent a golf cart. It is very doable without having to spend the extra money, and then that is extra money to spend on something else!!

We rented a golf cart, but with a young child, don't know how safe that is, then we would take the golf cart to the dock.

The best way to get from FW to the MK is by boat. Yes you will have to either walk, take a bus, or drive a golf cart to the Marina. However there is an option.

At the Settlement depot there is a bus that runs to the Wilderness Lodge. At the Lodge you can get a bus that goes to the Magic Kingdom. Its actually not a bad series of rides. It just takes longer than the boat.

I have been reading a few of the posts on this subject, and in the above post you mention a DIRECT BUS TO MK...

I just want to remind you that the MK is on an island with NO BRIDGES for vehicles, so the nearest you will get to the MK is the Ticket and Transportation Center and will have to get on Monorail or boats from there.

BUT if you are looking to not transferring, I believe your only other option is to take the boat from the cabin area to the Contemporary Resort and walk from the cntemporary to the front of the MK. Its only a short walk but a rlaxing one! I am thinking that is the only way to only take one source of transportation.
But with 1 1/2 yr old in tow I think the most stress-free would be to transfer from a boat to TTC vehicles to the MK!

Have a Magical Day!
