Are the dining plans worth the money? What are the best places to eat for breakfast? Lunch? Dinner? (prefer no seafood as we are allergic) Best Charactor meal?

We found that the regular dining plan is worth the money, having just actually paid for it for the first time a few weeks ago.

I would say the best place to eat breakfast is the Crystal Palace character breakfast buffet in the Magic Kingdom. You get to eat good food and get to rub elbows with Tigger, Eeyore, Piglet, and Pooh.

For lunch, we tend to do quick service places like Cosmic Ray's in the Magic Kingdom, Electric Umbrella at Epcot, Pizzafari in Animal Kingdom, or the Backlot Express in Hollywood Studios. If we do a sit-down meal, we've found that the Wilderness Lodge's Whispering Canyon Cafe has good food, and Epcot's Coral Reef Restaurant has some great food there.

For dinner, I definitely recommend 'Ohana at the Polynesian, as well as the Coral Reef Restaurant (already mentioned) in Epcot.

A big second to the Crystal Palace. We ate a late lunch there and paid lunch prices instead of dinner prices.
Chef Mickey's restaurant at the Contemparary Resort is great for breakfast. Mickey, Minney, Pluto, Chip and Dale were there from what I remember.
At both of these places, the characters come around and interact at each table for autographs and photos.
We like Cosmic Rays for lunch in the Magic Kingdom.

One of my favorite themes-FOOD.
We love Chef Mickey's for supper. My best friend's family have always eaten breakfast there and love it. We had breakfast at Ohana's last trip and really enjoyed the character interaction. My DD and little cousin were not thrilled with the food. Breakfast at Tusker House in AK was awesome for kids. My DD is 14 and wants to go back there.
Unfortunately, we love Columbia Harbor House for counter meal. They serve some seafood, but they also serve other counter service types of food.

That's a tough one. There are so many factors like price willing to pay, how far you are willing to go (like leaving the park to go to a hotel), when you call for reservations (if you don't call for reservations for sit down restaurants you can basically forget attempting to eat there).

A favorite for just about everybody here is Le Cellier in the Canada pavillion at Epcot. However, that place is usually booked months in advance, so if you want to eat there...you better call exactly 90 days out to even have a prayer.

The rest comes down to personal palette. I've eaten at Emeril Lagasse's restuaruants in New Orleans and even had him cook for me. I love food and know a good meal when it lands on my plate. However, I'm equally happy cranking open a can of Spaghettio's!

I think your best bet is to check out the menus of the places. You can find them here as well as at allearsnet.com. If you find a place that has food you like, then take a look at the ratings of the place.

Big Questions!!

Best Character Meal - Chef Mickey, 1900 Park Fare (bfast and dinner - dinner is Cinderella and bfast is Mary Poppins/Pooh), Crystal Palace

Best Dinner - Le Cell and Rose and Crown at Epcot

Best Bfast - same as Character Meal - Cape May is also very good.

Best lunch - if you mean Quick Service - I like Casey's and El Pirate at MK, Pizza Planet at DHS, Sommerfest at Epcot, Yak and Yeti at AK.

As for if dining plan is worth - I think so. If you don't plan on eating at Table Service for dinner, then you probably don't need the basic dining plan. But the quick service is an option to consider. If you plan on eating table service meals, then I think it is a must. There is much discussion about this all the time and it comes down to your eating and vacation habits. For my DH and I, we really enjoy trying new meals at new restaurants. And we always get the dining plan!

Whispering Canyon is one of my favorite places, just for the fun atmosphere and the food is good too...and ketchup is never in short supply:p

Im still yet to try alot of Disney dining, but Im slowly getting there i guess...We ate at Chefs de France for lunch on Valentines day and I really enjoyed it as well.

Crystal Palace, always a good place to see the characters, and the food is good being a buffet. I have never had breakfast there but Im thinking I might have to do that sometime.

If you like mexican, San Angel Inn at EPCOT will not disappoint. The ambience in there is great, theyve created a great outdoor space in an indoor setting.

You have to take into consideration how long you want to spend on meals vs. being on rides. Your 4 YO isn't going to want to sit and eat if they like rides. My DD (almost 4 and been there 5 times) prefers rides to eating. So we do a lot of counter service while there.

Here's a breakdown of what we tend to do:
BReakfast - hotel food court most mornings. One day we try to do breakfast with Pooh at Crystal Palace. This year I am doing the AK breakfast too.
Lunch - always counter service.
Dinner - Usually one night is Chef Mickey, one night is Downtown Disney (special treat of ice cream for dinner, or Earl of Sandwich.) The rest is usually counter service.

Now for what counter services we like:
MK - Cosmic Rays, Pecos Bills and sometimes Casey's Hot dogs for lunch.
Epcot - Electric Umbrella or America (by the way, we aren't into the countries - so we don't do any of them except America one in a blue moon.)
AK - usually only do lunch here - and eat at Pizzafari or BBQ Flame.
DHS - don't know the name of it, but it's next to Star Tours. And also Pizza Planet if in the mood for pizza.

Sit down - we only do character - and it's usually Chef Mickey and Crystal Palace. We have done 50's Prime Time in DHS but not really for little ones.

If I had to pick 3 I would go...

Breakfast...

Chef Mickeys, you get a breakfast buffet and all the big charchters.

Lunch...

50's Prime Time, I LOVE the fried chicken, and greens with bacon. The brownie dessert I had was AWESOME!

Dinner...

Le Celier. The Mushroom Filet was just stupid good. It melted in my mouth.

Dinner (save up and do at least one, it's better to spend your money at one of these places and not waste your time in the parks with something else if you're more into seeing all the rides/shows):

Artist's Point
Citricos
California Grill
Jiko
Flying Fish Cafe
Hollywood Brown Derby (lunch is also offered here)

Lunch: (dinner is offered at these places too but food is same and cheaper at lunch)

Akershus Royal Banquet Hall
50's Prime Time Cafe (if you have a group of 4 or more it's a must)
Tony's Town Square Restaurant
Coral Reef (not all seafood, the grilled chicken is good and the view is hard to beat)

Breakfast: (would personally rather eat in room and do early morning touring)

1900 Park Fare (favorite character breakfast)
Main Street Bake Shop (counter service but the French Toast loaf is great)

Snack:

Sci-Fi Dine In Theater (neat place to eat but food isn't amazing, better to just get a Vanilla Coke Float and watch some clips)
