What's going on with Epcot Future World?

Seriously, if those three things happened I would stop ragging on Future World.

I personally think the SSE descent update is just wishful thinking and even if it was "finished" it would not approach the majesty of the Irons Version. I suggest we wait for the next major refurbishment when a new generation of Imagineers with good taste restores Spaceship Earth to it's former glory.

Sadly the descent isn't completed as envisaged. That's what makes it more tragic.

I fear we are stuck with the screens forever more now.

WondersOfLife

Blink, blink. Breathe, breathe. Day in, day out.
As far as I know, which isn't much so...

Instead of fixing attractions that need to be replaced/refurbished/demolished/ect. (AKA: CBJ, EEG, WoL, JIIWF, ect.) they're building new attractions/expansions/ect. (AKA: Avatar, Fantasyland, Downtown Disney, Hotel expansions, ect.). Which I think is fine. But some of these other attractions need a major refurb. Like Ellen, Bears, EO, and maany more.

They need to take a break from expanding and refurbish some of the older attractions. Not necessarily replace them, but at least refurbish.

Or until a new sponsor replaces Siemens maybe? when is the contract up?

Thankfully when Siemens became the sponsor the Irons version remained a few more years so that means that assuming Siemens does not renew their sponsorship, it might not be as painfully long as it could have been. Then of course you have the problem of finding a new sponsor.

You know, I can't believe JIIWF and UOE are still around without their sponsors. It will probably be a few more years until they're gone. Even though Soarin' doesn't have a sponsor anymore, that will still be around for a long time.

But I agree that Disney needs to take a short break from the expansions to fix some rides that need major overhauls.

Do we really want Spaceship Earth without a sponsor? :lookaroun I'll take a well-maintained and generally still very strong attraction, over a ride in the state of Splash Mountain, or worse, Wonders of Life.

Please no! They should take the Judi Dench audio tracks out and incinerate them in the inferno barge during Illuminations. :ROFLOL:

Seriously, I just don't get why they did so much good to the first half of the ride (the cave paintings, great new AAs, cool 70's computer room, The Woz) only to completely fumble the narration and descent. Why half ______ it? But I guess that question sadly applies to many things at EPCOT Center nowadays.

... And then bury the ashes. And then bury the shovel used to dig the hole to bury the ashes.

Bring back Jeremy Irons or better yet, throw a 10 pound box of $20's at Morgan Freeman. Then we could just close our eyes during the descent, listen to that wonderful voice and ignore the annoying screen altogether.

The bigger problem is the script itself. While Jeremy Irons and Walter Cronkite certainly had a bit more drama in their narrations, the issue now is less with the narrator and more with the script.

Please no one kill me for saying this. BUT I dont think the UOE is all that bad??? I mean I like Ellen...shes funny. I think they should just make it newer and more updated but still make it fun educational on energy. Because I cant think of many ways to make an attraction about energy that fun? Oh well just my opinion:lookaroun

I enjoy it as is too, and Ellen certainly is still popular for the most part. Its just the attraction is showing its age including the Lady Elaine Fairchild animatronic version of Ellen.
I always thought that huge exit area could use an exhibit or something. Wasted bare space.

UOE is a guilty pleasure for me as well, but you're basically watching a movie. While the Dinosaur portion is well done, I view it is irrelevant to the story.

I would love to see some of the Dinosaur components move over to DAK as part of a new attraction (or a refurbishment to DINOSAUR) and that space used for a new attraction.
