So where does the term "nesian" come from? As in polynesian, indonesian, micronesian? Do all these people have common ancestors? Or is it a geographic description?

Following on from Richard's information, each region is named logically:

Polynesia - "Poly" meaning many, "nesia" meaning islands
Indonesia - "Indo" meaning Indian, "nesia" meaning islands
Micronesia: "Micro" meaning small, "nesia" meaning islands
Etc...

Nesian is mostly a common TERM used by people from the PACIFIC OCEAN ISLANDS. These three groups of people or Islands are Polynesians, Micronesians and Melanesians.
Indonesian people aren't considered Nesians, they're ASIANS just like the Philippine Islands which is a country in the Pacific but they're
not part of the Poly,Micro and Mela group.
Nesians consider themselves (Pacific Islanders) in Unity, for example Hawaii, Tahiti, Samoa, etc fall under the Polynesian group so a Samoan or Hawaiian person can call herself/himself a Nesian just like the rest of the people from the Islands of the Micronesia and Melanesia!!. The word / term itself is only a Poly,Micro and Mela way to recognize each other as PACIFIC ISLANDERS..especially when they're far away from home in BIG foreign countries!!.

Don't you think 5 years is a little late to be answering the question in a long dead conversation? Especially since the original poster has not even darkened the doors of this web site for 4 years?

I do see you are new, but for you to have found this ONE thread to respond to out of "thousands" of other, much more current, threads is suspect and very odd.

When you're the leader, you don't have to follow.

Seriously? I've been handing out "likes" in a 5-year old thread?

And you replied so it's obviously not dead!! ;).
Well not since you put the online defibrillator on the thread to knock it out of it's flat-lining.

It's still mighty suspect to me. It's like a spam post that is missing the spam.

Any time a brand new member kicks up a five year old thread it's usually to promote some website they are trying to boost traffic on..

There's generally always an ulterior motive.
