**What You Are Able To Take On Rides, HELP!**

We leave for a 2 week vacation in Disneyworld/Universal in 9 days. I recently bought a backpack to carry various items (camcorder, snacks, pancho etc) around the park for my wife and I. My biggest question is what rides will I be able to actually take my backpack on? I realize that rides such as Peter Pans Flight, Haunted Mansion etc will be no problem but what about rides such as Rockin Rollercoaster, Dinosaur, Star Tours etc? I know that there are lockers beside the rides but if I am able to take them on then I would much rather do that then shove it into a hot locker for an hour. Thanks for the help! I'm READY TO GO!!!!

I know that most of the high speed rides have net/mesh pouches in front of the seats, large enough for a backpack or a purse. Everest, Dinosaur, Test Track have them. I can't remember the others though.

You will be fine at Disney. My backpack has been on everything there. Universal is a different story.

At most of the major rides at Universal (Hulk, ROTM, DD, etc), they have lockers for you to leave your backpack in. I would try to go to Universal without a backpack, it can become a pain having to use the lockers.

I've never had any problem. I plan on carring a mesh backpack with me in May to hold my resort mug, medicine and camera.

I have also found that if your backpack does not fit in the mesh pockets provided on rides you can just put one of your legs through a strap and tuck it behind your legs, it holds your bag in pretty well even on RnRC. One other big tip I tell people is that you may want to bring a plastic zip lock bag for your wallet, cellphones and other electronics on water rides just to keep them safe and dry.
Have a great trip

So the cast members have no problem with you taking a backpack on rides such as Rockin Rollercoaster and Expedition Everest?

I just hate that Universal requires you to use the lockers. At Men in Black, my locker wouldn't open and we waited half an hour for someone to come fix it. Never bringing a bag there again  I don't see why you can't bring a bag on MiB and hold it between your feet anyway

Rocknrollercoaster will be no problem. I asked a cast member once in line up whether my bag was too big for the ride and she told me that there are nets in front to put them in and "The G-Forces keep everything in place" :lookaroun:eek:

She was right...I had a large bag that wasn't quite full and nothing moved, you're going too fast for anything to fall out.

Now if that isn't a good ad for the ride, nothing is :)

Agreed! If I can't put it in a pocket, it doesn't need to go to Universal.

My only advice would be to remove everything from your pockets during Dinosaur. While the RnRC has G forces to keep things in, Dinosaurs 'forces' (bouncing and tossing around) seem to actually have the opposite effect and remove things from your pockets . On one of our trips my husbands wallet removed itself from his pocket while on Dinosaur . To make matters oh-so-much worse, he was carrying all 4 of our families passes and room keys along with our credit cards and cash, of course, in the wallet . He didn't notice until about 1/2 hour later but knew it had to be there that he 'lost' his wallet. He went back and asked if anyone had turned it in but no one had. The CM said they would check the ride after closing and would turn it in to lost & found if it was found. It was a long night and a longer day the next day :lookaroun. Late the following afternoon my husband called again and low and behold they had his wallet at lost & found :sohappy:!!! The CM had found it and turned it in with ALL of our stuff still inside. Anyway, long story but jist is.....remove anything you do not want to lose from pockets on Dinosaur or any other ride that bounces you around :hammer:.

Interesting. I've never had that problem on that or any other ride.

At Disney, most likely you won't encounter a problem.
They offer storage compartments on most rides, or you can put your bags at your feet.

But IMO, don't bog yourself down with a lot of crap to carry.
I find it annoying, but especially annoying if it's hot or rainy weather!

I am the master at getting a watermelon in a lemon size locker (so to speak)... yes, it is only a few quarters, but i think it is a rip off.

I am also that guy who makes one trip from the car to the kitchen with ALL the groceries. Stubborn across the board. :D
