What would you like to see in the place of Tom Sawyers Island?

I do like the nostalgia of TSI....I don't know how much that is appreciated by kids these days (I'm 33, btw)....I'd like Aunt Polly's to be open a little more, though.....they were closed when we visited last August....

Also, I like the barrel bridges....mucho fun...

I took my kids--Ages 5 and 3--to TSI for the first time ever in Dec. They loved it and did not want to leave. (My three year old nearly threw a fit when I pulled him away from the guns at the fort!) So, I certainly wouldn't want to see it changed to something else.

However, in the spirit of this thread, I will make a suggestion that even I do not like. Some theme parks have mini-water parks built in them. The River Country swimmin' hole concept could be built into TSI.

Now, let me respond to my own idea....

icorxis, if that's not dumbest, most asenine idea I've ever heard. Not only will this trash up the rest of the park with people running around in swimming suits and leaving wet seats where ever they go, it will mess up an all-time classic that still draws smiles from wide ranges of people. Why even contemplate the what if? Go poke yourself in the eye! :brick:

If it ain`t broke, why fix it?

Halloween - not a chance. The atmosphere of Frontierland and Liberty Square would be ruined.

Tom Sayer Island is the ideal backdrop from BTM to the HM and all parts inbetween. No to mention the practicalities of closing down Rivers of America for 2-3 years.

Next thing you know they`ll be replacing Alien Encounter with a cartoon tie in..
Why would it be ruined? The Haunted Mansion is right there.

The HM is just a small part of Liberty Square. Imagaine a Halloween themed attraction opposite the 1787 colonial building.

I would not totally take ouot Tom Sawyer's Island. I would however re-design the island to incorperate more interaction on the island. I would greatly expand the Cavern systems including sound efects and show elements. I would alson create more areas of rock climbing walls and more interaction between the boats in the Rivers of America and the Fort.

Btm

This would be to costly and a bit pointless but i would like to see BTM on the island. I really like the way that in DLRP you start on the mainland, the the railway goes under the river, and comes out on the island. Yes i know the cost of "moving BTM would make no sense, but were talking blue sky here right?

The boat can still go round coz the train would load and unload on the main shore, and go under the lake, then ride around the new bit thunder mountain island. Then the current space for BTM could be used for a new ride, possibly introduce the old idea for the Wester River Expedition. I know the cost of this is incredible and unless someone at WDI got hit round the head with a silly stick, but i think it would be a nice addition.

I like the NEVERLAND idea.

I also like the Halloween/Sleepy Hollow idea.

Both are pretty neat ideas.

Tom Sawyers Island should be replaced with either:

-Geyser Mountain
-Journey to the Center of the Earth but with Baxters "Discovery Bay" themeing (Victorian san fransisco)
-Something new by WDI

A spectacular merchandise warehouse and a meet 'n greet... :lookaroun :lookaroun :lookaroun

I used to live in Orlando and literally went every weekend and even I haven't been on Tom Sawyer Island.
I went for the first time when I was a CP. I was leaving in August and one of my friend's was leaving in May so it was like her 2nd to last day we went there. We actually had a lot of fun there, and it was nice being out of the crowds.

I dont think they should take it out--ever! Disney has taken out a lot of classic rides, not to say what they put in isn't good. It's all awesome. It's just leave that as is!

To Save Time...

To save time here is all of what I would do if I were head Imagineer. Magic Kingdom is near perfect but if you are going to revamp it, here is how you should go about it.

1. Tom Sawyer Island if converted to another ride should either hold something like California Adventure's Grizzly River Run, however that might overshadow Splash Mountain. Or, a Skull Island/Pirate Ship comeback (but that takes away from the overall atmosphere), or possibly even Journey To the Center of the Earth? The Rivers of America should be kept, but I think a Colonial Ship (with maybe Peter Pan/Captain Hook appearances on occasion) would fit better, especially since the dock is in Liberty Square.

2. Adventureland is not dull, but has serious potential. Personally, if Pirates of the Caribbean is going to be revamped it should be more thrilling, but still endearing and fun and most importantly filled with whimsy. Jack Sparrow is a nice touch too. 20,000 Leagues should be brought back, but instead of Fantasyland it should extend past Pirates of the Caribbean (incorporating a bridge to the Walt Disney World Railroad would add a sense of Adventure to that ride as well). They could also incorporate Journey to the Center of the Earth there. Another character tie in could be the Aladdin stageshow from California Adventure. Swiss Family Robinson is also sadly on the chopping block and if it is to be replaced it should be Tarzan themed (like @ Disneyland) except maybe with a ride like the Indiana Jones roller coaster. Also, Disney classics like The Jungle Book are also overlooked and Adventureland could provide a perfect setting for a Jungle Book themed ride or show.

3. Liberty Square should have a Sleepy Hollow or Jamestown (you know, like Pocahontas) look would add a Storybook quality to it that has never been seen. This (Sleepy Hollow look) would highten the creepy factor of The Haunted Mansion and bring more attention to that corner of the realm. Pocahontas characters should also make appearances at Liberty Tree Tavern.

4. Pooh's Playful Corner has to leave ASAP to make way for possibly Alice's Curious Labyrinth, Mermaid Lagoon (like from Tokyo Disney Sea), or even a revival of Mr. Toad's Wild Ride and possibly an introduction of Pinocchio's Daring Adventures. Speaking of Pinocchio, Pinocchio's Village Haus could make for a wonderful table service restaurant with characters (for those who cannot experience Cinderella's Royal Table) and the land behind it could be a new E-Ticket attraction. They could even put in a reproduction of the Snow White show in Disneyland. Mary Poppins, 101 Dalmatians, Bambi, and Pinocchio are all classics that deserve some attention in the theme parks as well.

5. A great place to incorporate the Winnie the Pooh theme would be Mickey's Toontown Fair. A 100 Acre Wood addition would add a heightened level of whimsy and popularity to the area. Otherwise, it is not in need of any tweaks.

6. Tomorrowland has a ton of unused "space" (no pun intended). Carousel of Progress (while a classic) needs to be replaced. I can easily see a Monster's Inc. attraction being placed there or maybe an Incredibles themed roller coaster. In the future, however, I feel that the Indy Speedway will eventually make way for a slew of wonderful new attractions. Maybe even a new land. Some consider the Speedway a classic, but ever since it has been modernized I feel the enchantment of the previous Autopia ride was lost. That area needs some serious enhancements.

7. Concerning Main Street, U.S.A it is perfectly enchanting. Tony's Town Square has great character potential (Lady and the Tramp are obsolete at the park if no one has ever noticed) and honestly I think the Hub needs its trees back. It condenses the park. Currently, the Hub seems a bit naked, who cares about a perfect view of the castle... atmosphere is what it's all about.

8. Speaking of the castle, Cinderella Castle Mystery Tour would also be a fantastic addition. Think how much more popular the castle would become. Restaurant and a Ride, that place would be a tourist magnet.

Like I said, I am content with Magic Kingdom, but if changes are to be done, this is the way to go about it. These suggested rides would be a more permanent addition to the parks instead of being just temporary tourist satisfyers.
