If I was in charge of the 40th Anniversary, this is what I would do:

Marketing Campaign
I would launch a campaign called "40 Years of Pixie Dust" that would include another Free Day on Your Birthday, bigger discounts on tickets for FL residents, and more. I'll go into more specifics later.

Ticket Pricing
For the 40th, I would want to get more people in the park by lowering the ticket prices to at least $45.00. Floridians would receive a 50% discount, only paying $22.50.

New/Refurbished Attractions
For the Magic Kingdom, here is a list of what I would do by land.

Tomorrowland
  • Move Monster's Inc. Laugh Floor to DHS and bring back Timekeeper. This time, with seats.
  • CLOSE Stitch's Great Escape and replace it with a revamped Mission to Mars.
  • Give the Carousel of Progress its long overdue refurbishment, completely changing the scenes up and fixing audio, lighting, etc.
  • Space Mountain would receive yet another refurbishment, this time to add more effects than what may be added during the refurb this year.

Mickey's Toontown Fair
  • Bring back Mickey's Starland with a completely different show.

Fantasyland
  • Give the land it's needed refurbishment, painting the facades again and what not.
  • Demolishing Pooh's Playful Spot and building a new Mr. Toad's Wild Ride.
  • I would find more room to put in an attraction based on Pinocchio somewhere.
  • Build the Little Mermaid ride.
  • Give Peter Pan a much deserved refurbishment, fixing the scenes up for enhancements.

Liberty Square
  • Have a separate event for the Haunted Mansion's anniversary.

Frontierland
  • Enhance Tom Sawyer's Island, including possibly adding lights on the ground and in the trees to allow nighttime excursions to the island.
  • Adding an on-ride photo to Big Thunder Mountain.
  • Bring back the Summer and Christmas shows for the Country Bear Jamboree.

Adventureland
  • Bring back the original Tropical Serenade and remove Iago and Zazu.
  • Enhance Pirates of the Caribbean with some new technological effects.
  • At the Jungle Cruise, add those barracudas that are seen on Disneyland's attraction.

Parades/Fireworks
  • Keep Wishes the same as is.
  • Replace SpectroMagic with Main Street Electrical Parade once again for a limited time. Or have both run at different times.

For Epcot:

New/Refurbished Attractions

Future World
- Bring back the original Imagination.
- Reopen the Wonders of Life pavilion.

World Showcase
- Somehow add the Matterhorn in Japan.

DHS:

New/Refurbished Attractions
- Star Tours 2.0
- Tower of Terror 5
- An updated MuppetVision 3D

DAK:
New Attractions
Australia land.

I would go for the whole retro thing on a grand scale. Old maps, bags, straws, glasses, souvenirs, shows, parades, restaurants, etc.

Disneyboi1215, you & I must be thinking on the same wavelengths, your ideas for Fronteirland and the parades are EXACTLY what i'd do I also like your idea of bringing the Original Tiki Room back (I personally would want the COMPLETE show NOT the edited version that plays in California

Charge a 30% premium for any merchandise, souvenir ticket holders, pins, cups etc.... Anything with the 40th anniversary tie-in would be a exclusive LIMITED EDITION only 500 million made.

This looks more likely to happen.

Your Adventureland idea of Bringing back the Tropical Serenade is MY NUMBER ONE ANSWER! :)

Your idea to return the Main Street Electrical Parade and many of the other ideas (but please do not let them destroy the CoP like the did when they put the Tiki Room Under New Management) I like most of these....

If I was to take lead of the 40th Anniversary of Walt Disney World, this is what I will probably do:

  • Give Cinderella Castle a simple but beautiful overlay. This would have a huge silver hidden mickey with the number 40 placed on the front, with the turrents painted metallic silver, and the whole castle painted crystal white.
  • Remove Pooh's Playful Spot, and put 20'000 Leagues Under The Sea (an updated version) back where it belongs.
  • Remove the Village Haus Restaurant, and put Mr Toad's Wild Ride there.
  • Give Carousel of Progress an extensive refurbishment (including new lighting, costumes, seats, and a new narrator (perhaps Roy O Disney?).
  • Space Mountain completely refurbished with new track, rockets, projectors, queuing area, lighting, and exterior signage. Also, the exterior would be repainted and cleaned to a shimmering white.
  • Remove Aladdin's Magic Carpets, and bring back Tropical Serenade (the original Enchanted Tiki Room).
  • Bring back Timekeeper (with seats), and move Monsters Inc to Disney's Hollywood Studios (at the Pixar area).
  • Revamp the ending of Spaceship Earth, and bring back Walter Cronckite's narration from SSE 94.
  • Return Dreamfinder to Journey Into Imagination.
  • Give Honey I Shrunk The Audience a refurbishment with new special effects and scrim.
  • Demolish Wonders of Life and put a new version of Horizons there.
  • Put the famous kinetic mosaic back in the Universe Of Energy preshow.
  • Redesign The Seas with Nemo and Friends to a more original and similar version of the Living Seas.
  • Put a new dragon (like the one at Disneyland) in Fantasmic! at Disney's Hollywood Studios.
  • Remove the ridiculous Sorcerer Hat from Disney's Hollywood Studios.
  • Give Indiana Jones Stunt Show new sets, a real Nazi plane, and have more spectacular explosions.
  • Remove Dinosaur Gertie's from the park (it looks like Dinosaur Jack from DCA) and put Jenny the shrimp boat from Forrest Gump there instead.
  • Make Dinosaur at Disney's Animal Kingdom more rough, scary, fast and thrilling, similar to Countdown to Extinction.
  • Build Beastly Kingdom at Disney's Animal Kingdom (where Camp Mickey and Minnie is currently located).
  • Give Walt Disney World a new monorail fleet (similar to Disneyland's).
So, that is what I would do for the 40th Anniversary of WDW. Any comments or opinions are welcome. :)

You MAY end up bringing more people in, however, your staff may be streaming out the other way - if you can't afford to pay them!

They should hire Adam, Jason, Jen, Martin, Jackie, Tom, et al as consultants to plan a proper celebration. Imagine what could be pulled off with a budget.

Well its seems to late for a major attraction, so they should pull a "Summer Nightastic!" style promo, new fireworks to finally kick out Wishes! enhancements to Fantasmic!, SpectroMagic, and Illuminations. New stage show at the castle.

A movie/exhibit similar to "DL the First 50 Magical Years".

And above all a brand new day time parade, not Parade of Dreams, no using floats for other parades currently sitting there all brand new.

MK having decorations reflecting the year it opened and as do each of the parks. Similar to how the current "WWYC?" banners are park specific.

Oh and play up the Fantasyland expansion.
