What would it take for you to NOT go back?

So many people filled with vitriol and saying they stopped going, or havent been in 10 years with no intention of going back. Why are you on a message board about it then? I dont understand.

I don't understand people who think those of us who don't plan on going back to WDW are "filled with vitriol".
Is it really that hard for you to hear criticism of the mouse?

Agreed. With Disney continuously jacking up the prices for EVERYTHING it just doesn't seem to be worth it anymore. I feel bad for the naive saps who will be forking over $5K to stay in that Star Wars hotel for 2 nights.

My dd was just dreaming about going. I told her that she can either save up and move out or go play pretend for a couple nights.
I wasn't threatening to kick her out LOL, she's in the process of saving up so she can move out.
I think she's decided that having her own place is much better than playing pretend for a couple nights.

maybe i wasnt referencing you? There are people on here that are super negative about absolutely everything, and how horrible everything is, and disney is the devil. Theres a mixture of good and bad with disney currently, and i have a mixture of both.

The people i am talking about as an example would be a message board about paris and say "I hate paris, it smells horrible, i hate the food, their museums are garbage, they take advantage of tourists, and the people that live there are stupid and rude it is nothing like it was in the 1960s when my parents took me. "

I think people who dont choose to go for awhile or ever, are doing what they should. voting with their wallet and going somewhere they would enjoy more.

I would ask since you commented. If you dont plan on ever going back again, why are you on a message board about the parks?

We just hit our limit, I was just able to call and cancel my Boo Bash Tickets and we will be cancelling our October Trip, with No Fast Pass or a PAID version coming, Park Hopping not the same and NO dining plan, but the biggest reason is we have never gone without a discount being offered and with nothing on the horizon, we are not going to pay the price they are asking for such a reduced experience, it really hit home when my son said to me the other day that going in October without any discounts is the same price as a college semester for him!!! The worst part is we have visited at least once a year and sometimes 2x for the last 12 years.

I think people, especially those who have spent many vacations going to WDW have every right to feel negative feelings about what they perceive is happening there. This is a site for information, the good, bad and the ugly. If your experiences are different feel free to share them, but anyone who goes is entitled to share their feelings. I personally don't see them filled with vitriol, I see them as people who have had a negative experience and are sharing it.

As for me, I'm here because I'm planning my last trip. It's been about 5 years since I've been so with that and COVID a lot as changed. I am here to read reports of what others have been experiencing in the last few months specifically.
After that I'm done but I may still pop over here from time to time to see what is going on with a place that I once loved and still hold some very fond vacation memories for. I may even share my experiences whether they are good or bad. If one can't handle reading then they are free to scroll on by and focus on the rose colored posts.

ETA this is a thread titled "what would it take for you to not go back". I think it's a pretty safe assumption that it would be filled with negative opinions about Disney, the parks and the resorts.
Why would one come to this thread and expect it to be something different.

We are at that point now, sadly. Most recent trips were late September of 19 and February of 20. With the erosion of many of the things we enjoyed and used frequently, the ROI of time and money just isn’t there. Each passing day of news seems to cement that feeling even more. And this is someone that has been there 17 times since 1990.

For me, it would have to be drastic changes to the annual passholder program, specifically for Florida residents. I’m nervously waiting to see what changes will be made once they go back on sale.

I am a dvc member and haven’t been in over 2 years now which is killing me. We have a trip planned in October but I’m now debating if we should go or not. I am sitting on annual pass vouchers and not sure if I want to start the clock on those yet if things aren’t completely normal or without some type of fastpass etc

It wasn’t directed at this thread or anyone specifically. There are people on these boards that havent been there in 10 years, refuse to ever go back and everything is negative. My point was for those people, wheres the interest in a fairly pro disney website. It was an honest question based off of curiosity.

I can say for myself that when it comes to modern Disney, parks and media, I can scew negative. We have a trip planned for next summer. It was supposed to be last summer but covid and we decided this summer the cuts were just too much. Once that trip is done, we have no plans on going back. And we were a near once a year family for over 20yrs up until 2016. We only missed twice when each kid was a newborn. I don't agree with A LOT of what Disney is doing with the parks. Why do I still come here? Because there are still things to talk about that are good or I'd like to talk about. The "haters" hate what Disney is right now, and I don't blame them. Maybe wdwmagic is like being friends with your ex on Facebook. You still want to see what's going on with them. But even though it ended, maybe badly, you still have fond memories of the good times.

Well, we still have the trip in Sept. booked, but if things don't improve in Florida, that won't happen. Since we are letting our AP's expire at the end of the year, we might not get back at all. The combination of sky high ticket prices and AP's (and pay extra to ride the rides coming??), $200.00 to $1400.00 a night rooms (just a place to lay your head on the pillow and use the bathroom), canceling DME and luggage assistance to name just a few reasons. If there hadn't been the Covid issue this year, we had planned on several trips to get the most of our AP, but it's turned out to be a waste of money for us. But I AM thankful that we didn't move to Florida when we were thinking about it. 😬

Since it seems to bother people why someone would be on a message board if they don't plan on going back, I'll throw this out. This is a copy/paste from another post I made but maybe it'll answer your question:

I reached my limit back in 2012. My wife hadn't yet. (She has now). We live in Central Florida about 30 minutes west of Disney down I-4. We have an RV and I stayed at Ft Wilderness in Dec. 2018, and May 2019. The stay in 2018 was to see the decorations. We had a 3 day pass, only used 2 days. May 2019 was so my wife could go to Flower and garden and we used the one day left over from Dec. That was the last of the parks for us. We went to the Fort again in October 2020. No park tickets and we went only to meet some friends from a Ft Wilderness camping forum. We also had to run the coach as it was also stuck in the garage as a result of things we had planned being closed from the RONA. 'Ohana was closed, Trail's End was closed, resort hopping was somewhat limited although my wife got to ride the gondolas from start to finish. That was the last trip for us. She finally agreed that it was no longer worth it. Withdrawal was complete. No more dopamine hit (Pixie Dust to some). Don't get me wrong, Fort Wilderness was new and enjoyable, and you didn't have to leave the grounds to have fun. But October was too little to do at a high cost. Still expensive for a reduced experience.

So why am I here on this forum if I'm done with Disney? For one thing. boredom. Something to read while stuck in front of the computer for work. The other is we had taken our yearly and sometimes more, trips since 1989. I felt that there might be a question or two that I was able to answer. On that point, I have found that things have changed so much my experiences while numerous aren't really valid any longer. Those of you who have been over the last five or more years have left me in the dust.
Lastly, maybe the most important is the memories I have of the good times. My mother used to love Disney. I'm pretty sure she would be disgusted with the changes by now. The last trip as a family before she died was 2008 and she said Disney was all about the money now. Knowing her like I do, charging for resort parking would have been the final straw.
But, we still have fond memories of all those family trips throughout the years. There's other places to go now, and other things to see. We leave it to the new families to do as they will.

I think it's a rather rude statement to question why you are on a disney board if you don't go anymore! It isn't in the rule books that you must absolutely be going to disney to participate in a Discussion Board. It is a board to discuss all things disney, not just from certain posters, but everyone. Sorry for the rant, but this rubs me the wrong way when I see it.
I don't care how long ago someone visited, all their experiences are valid IMO. They like to share them and speculate on other things about disney. That is allowed.
So, let's let up on people who aren't going to disney anymore with these remarks, Please. Who knows, maybe they will go back one day and then be "allowed" to participate. Mic drop!

That does answer alot of my questions. I appreciate you taking the time to answer and write such a well thought out message.

I was glad to have not gone during this whole mask fiasco. It would have really put a damper on the mood and atmosphere and really killed the normally #1 all-time customer service to hear a CM say - even if it wasn't to me - "Sir, could you please keep your mask up above your nose?"

Something like that would have really hurt the mystique of the park, perhaps to never have it be seen the same again.
Once again, blame the wrong people. You in affect are blaming Disney for the Pandemic that is killing people and secondly blaming the CM for trying to protect people from dying. If you want to blame someone blame those people that are so sure of those unsubstantiated and bogus reports lead them to not get vaccinated and the people that aren't bright enough or are belligerent enough to try and keep their noses uncovered. They are the ones that have been playing a large roll in the blame for this virus to cycle around again. The magic is in the brain not in the mask.

Thats my point. If you dont like it dont go. Vote with your wallet. I hate to say this but its like a restaurant. If you went there with your parents, then took your kids , and your grand kids then suddenly the food sucked. You would go a few times again to make sure it wasnt a bad one off. Then you might talk to a manager and say hey your food isnt the same as it was (in case they dont know). But then you have a choice. You can keep going due to nostalgia of what it once was, OR find a new place to eat. Instead people complain about what once was but they keep going. Personally my happiness outweighs my complaints, as long as thats the case ill keep going. As soon as it doesnt ill stop.

Please note im not directing this at you or anyone specifically. More of the people who complain yet go 10 times a year, or havent been in 10 years but still want to complain.
You’re sorta on to what I originally asked. The question was an outgrowth of people complaining in the Fastpass+ thread about the changes. That then got me wondering just what would it take for people to say no more.

The loss of a free version of Fastpass and the lack of late hours without paying extra pretty much does it for us right now. Sure I'm willing to pay the multiday admission prices now IF the hours were when we frequent vs crabby family. We haven't been since 2018, mainly due to the major construction projects. I'd expect maybe when more rides open we might go again. As much as I'd love to do a trip to GE when we are in Florida, the price for a single day just isn't worth it. So guess it's going to come down to when we want to spend a Disney size budget again will Epic possibly be open? And will that be of more interest than hopping to multiple parks for a few new things?

just don't know. Waiting daily on what chapek is doing with fastpass. Hope its still a perk for on property at least through the 50th yr. event next year. I suppose if I have to pay big to not stand in a line with a 6 yr. old for over an hr. that would do it for me. I am such a big Walt fan. This chapeck fool has ruined everything. what a waste.
