What will happen to the Electrical Parade after its current run?

Still Disney in the past has a very difficult time just demolishing something, especially something that has brought enjoyment for so many years.

Some would argue that Disney's reluctance to routinely remove old dated features from its parks is a poor long term strategy. To me always banking on nostalgia is antithetical to Walt's promise that Disneyland would always be in a state of evolution.

LOL! No kidding.
Definitely got there money out of it and a lot of people got enjoyment out of it as well. I actually preferred Spectromagic, but that is a whole other debate. Still Disney just likes to hang onto things like this, but on the other hand they have the quick finger on change on some things that people seem to enjoy like the Maelstrom ride.

The first trip we took to Disneyland where my son was old enough to remember they had the MSEP playing in DCA. The kids were much smaller and loved the parade. We had a great view (I feel like there was hardly anyone around us at all watching lol) and it was fun seeing it for the first time. So when I watched the videos of the parade from the other night, it brought back those happy memories for me, and that's nice and all, but the whole time if just felt like I was watching something in my local town. Some local parade that's put on every year for charity. It seems kind of sad.

Look at all the "Historical" sites that draw a lot of tourist, and their voices that don't prevent change, such as lists of Historical Buildings and Lands.

Or some long term Star Trek and Star Wars fans that complain about modifying the original series.

Look what happened when Coca-Cola brought out "New Coke" in 1985.

Some change is good, and losing the MSEP is one of them IMHO, but I would agree with many if someone claimed they had to totally redo the Disneyland entrance area including Main Street due to today's safety requirements and foot traffic increase.

Now, having to figure out a way to widen the street and sidewalks, yes, it needs to happen, but hopefully with very little changes to the buildings, even if they have to be moved.

Now looking at the ToT changeover, I agree with those that feel it was forced to change, not for any good reason, but that Disney needed somewhere to plus its new synergy project, and that the removal of things like Monster's Inc and the former Muppets Theater, along with the WWTBAM-PI! building makes total sense, as they never really that popular at DCA. Same with many other parts of the park, like the Paradise Pier makeover. Nobody complained, because they were taking a "broken" item and fixing it. But why "fix" a perfectly working thing that based on the wait times was still very popular, like ToT???

Just saw this quote from Andy Castro's Mice Chat MSEP article:

"With the return to Disneyland, the parade comes with a few changes. The classic Blue Fairy float that originally led the parade is long gone, and the Tinker-Bell float that replaced it in the 2000s when the parade was running at Disney California Adventure has been modified and moved back in the parade. The parade now kicks off with the Casey Jr. train float and iconic drum float."

But the one and only time I saw the MSEP was in the 2000s at DCA and the Blue Fairy float was there. See the extremely blury picture that I took below.

The Blue Fairy float was removed and replaced with the Tinker Bell float in 2009 as part of the Summer Nighttastic promotion. From 2001 up until then, the parade at DCA started with the Blue Fairy.

Try to think of any other company that is forced to cling to the past more so than Disney. It's unheard of. Disney fans need to collectively agree to get some therapy and learn how to let things go.
You make it sound like Disney fans are the reason why Disney clings to the past.

I assure you they cling to the past because it's cheaper to hold onto something already built than build a brand-new something. And not to mention how people open their wallets to nostalgia with a hearty cry of "omg muh childhood!"

Disney made their bed. But it's about time for them to wake up.

There are two there as well! One about the W D W N T article re: PTN and one that's from late last summer that's still going. I'm over it, just like I'm over this 45 year old embarrassment of a parade.
Oh. Four. I can't brain today..

I was excited for the parade's return but now that it happened I'm kinda over it. It bugs me that they just strung shoddy-looking light strings over the "Disney's Electrical Parade" portion for the MSEP logo and called it a day. If the parade extends past its current run and PTN goes to WDW I'm honestly going to be beyond disappointed. It's bad enough they retired WOC Celebrate and Disneyland Forever, as much as I like Remember.

Are you suggesting that they aren't? If not then boycott the parade. Don't buy the merch. Take bloggers to task for putting a positive spin on the resurrection of a dusty relic. Stop coming here to gush over the advertisements.

Unfortunately the faithful can't resist anything deemed "classic". They dutifully fall in line with each nostalgia campaign Disney rolls out while simultaneously waving a finger at Disney, even when it gives them precisely what they crave. Stop letting Disney monetize your sentimentality

Here's the thing. I get that MSEP is sentimental to many, but at this point they are just using it to prop up cheap, easy, and profitable nostalgia. If you want MSEP to continue to be around in any capacity, than you are prioritizing a relic over a modern state-of-the-art parade, one that Disney will be too happy to trot out and keep forever because of "popular demand." Its time has long passed.

I will never understand the pull that this particular parade has over certain people. My only hypothesis is that right around the time MSEP left Disneyland was when the Pressler era and the disappointment that came with it really set in. So when those people watch MSEP, they can pretend that it's still 1996 and all the changes since then they didn't like never happened. Otherwise I fail to understand the "MSEP is better than everything else!!1111" folks. The parade WAS a classic, now it's an embarrassment.
