What will happen to the Electrical Parade after its current run?

Unfortunately the faithful can't resist anything deemed "classic". They dutifully fall in line with each nostalgia campaign Disney rolls out while simultaneously waving a finger at Disney, even when it gives them precisely what they crave. Stop letting Disney monetize your sentimentality

Is it not possible that some people actually prefer something older to something newer? I'm a musical person so that plays a big part in my preferences. I hate the PTN soundtrack.

Of course, which is my point. It isn't so cut and dry that it can be stated definitively that the parade is being staged strictly as a cost savings move. Lots of people still like the parade, some are suckers for nostalgia, others prefer it over PtN, and so on. In any case no one can squarely blame Disney for the return of the MSEP when there's a large fan audience eager to have it back.

Gotcha. I think I missed some of your prior posts.

I have only seen PTN once a while back so some of what I'm going to say may not be totally accurate. I thought it was a little bit low energy and that the music didn't match the pace of the parade. I think it needs some of the floats to do a little more zig zagging and not all the Floats going in a straight line.

I enjoyed many showings of the MSEP and I will cherish them and remember the parade always. That being said, there comes a time for an upgrade and something new that I can enjoy in the future. I did that with Spectromagic when they first added that over MSEP. Disney has done this with attractions like The Carousel of Progress and It's A Small World as well. Now I don't think they will ever replace the original Walt rides, but I think with the parade there could be so many positive upgrades with a new parade that fans of Disney would love it.

Here's the thing. I get that MSEP is sentimental to many, but at this point they are just using it to prop up cheap, easy, and profitable nostalgia. If you want MSEP to continue to be around in any capacity, than you are prioritizing a relic over a modern state-of-the-art parade, one that Disney will be too happy to trot out and keep forever because of "popular demand." Its time has long passed.

I will never understand the pull that this particular parade has over certain people. My only hypothesis is that right around the time MSEP left Disneyland was when the Pressler era and the disappointment that came with it really set in. So when those people watch MSEP, they can pretend that it's still 1996 and all the changes since then they didn't like never happened. Otherwise I fail to understand the "MSEP is better than everything else!!1111" folks. The parade WAS a classic, now it's an embarrassment.
Besides once MSEP ends at Disneyland in a few months. Please let Tokyo carry the torch for the original parades legacy with Dreamlights. It's the perfect successor to MSEP.

Are you suggesting that they aren't? If not then boycott the parade. Don't buy the merch. Take bloggers to task for putting a positive spin on the resurrection of a dusty relic. Stop coming here to gush over the advertisements.

No, I'm saying that Disney's easiest option is to cling to the past. It's not like they're being forced as was inferred in the post I was quoting. I know I kinda switched gears in the middle of that post so I apologize for my point being unclear.

^Surely this classic is saved in an old Disney warehouse somewhere? Just dust it off with a swiffer and it's good to go!

Talk about nostalgia. That was my first Disney parade. And it was at the MK too!

You make it sound like Disney fans are the reason why Disney clings to the past.

I assure you they cling to the past because it's cheaper to hold onto something already built than build a brand-new something. And not to mention how people open their wallets to nostalgia with a hearty cry of "omg muh childhood!"

Disney made their bed. But it's about time for them to wake up.
But if the fans didn't eat it up so much, Disney wouldn't have any other option than to innovate.

The Blue Fairy float was removed and replaced with the Tinker Bell float in 2009 as part of the Summer Nighttastic promotion. From 2001 up until then, the parade at DCA started with the Blue Fairy.

I didn't know that!!! I remember seeing the parade at DCA in 2007 and couldn't remember if I saw the Blue Fairy or not...guess I probably did :) That makes me a little happy about the parade!

I loved seeing MSEP in the late 90s at WDW, but then hated it after seeing Spectromagic. I hated it even more after TDO destroyed Spectro. Now that I've seen Paint the Night, I'm hoping that TDA holds to their word and ends MSEP in June before my next trip to DL in 2018.

The "To honor America" float because it means the parade is OVER.

You win the Disney internet today! Hilarious! :hilarious::happy::D

Seriously, my favorite was the Blue Fairy unit. Waaaaaay back in 1977, when I first saw the MSEP, it gave me goosebumps hearing the Electric Fanfare, seeing Main Street go dark, and watching that unit slowly come down Main Street with the Castle in the distance. What a way to start a show! At the time there was nothing like it anywhere.

Actually the "To honor America" float really is my favorite because you don't see that kind of public display of patriotism anymore. It's something the country has been missing for a long while.
