What to do while waiting for your Fastpass time

So what do you like to do in each park while waiting for the time to use your Fastpass?

I know, it'll vary depending on the park, the Fastpass attraction, what's around it, etc. But quite often, we all just go to another ride, and sometimes using that Fastpass time to explore other things the parks have to offer makes it all seem more worthwhile.

If you're traveling with a shopper, Fastpasses are a godsend, especially at Epcot. They don't want to just wait on line, you don't want to take time away from major attractions for "just" shopping. Getting a Fastpass for an Epcot attraction gives you the time to saunter through some of the WS exhibits, especially those with no film or attraction beyond the cultural (or the cuisine). Check out the small displays of authentic Norwegian or Moroccan art. Check the Times schedule for musical performances. OR conversely, there's often lots of stuff to check out at Innoventions.

At MGM I can spend a good hour or two poking around the Walt Disney exhibit, and with Fastpass, I do. And if we're eating in the park, we try not to order dessert, so if we have a long wait to use a Fastpass, we might just get some ice cream at Sci-Fi or 50s.

Animal Kingdom, Fastpass waiting time means walk-through trails time. Pangani or Maharahjah or back to Discovery Island to really appreciate the animals there.

Magic Kingdom...OK there, you just go on more rides.

I usually don't use Fastpass'

I don't like Fastpass as I really don't like to be tied down to being someplace at any given time, same goes with making Reservations to eat. I like to ride when I want to ride, eat when I want to eat and have a great time on vacation without the worry of missing my Fastpass time.

Although I know people love the Fastpass system, my system has been working great for me for the past 28 years.

On vacation I tend not to wear a watch because I don't care what time it is.

For MK and MGM, I usually hit more rides because of the smaller and more packed enviroments.

At EP and AK, I stroll around or watch the JAMMitors or some sort of act. As there are less rides and more room, I can just sit down and breathe in Disney air!

I like to plan ahead to have a fastpass. Most days I have a designated person in the party whose job it is to go and get fastpasses. For instance, upon hitting the gate at Epcot, one of us will get Test Track fastpasses while the other takes the kids on SSE. Or one will stand in line with kids at Dumbo while the other gets Peter Pan FPs and gets our lunches set up. I try to always be holding a FP and I decide before we go to the park what we're going to get first.

In the early mornings right before the insanity starts we will get a fastpass for one ride and wait for the other and then switch. For example at MGM we will get a fastpass for Rockin Roller Coaster and jump in line for Tower of Terror. Once we are off Tower, we get a fastpass for Tower and jump on Rockin. Once off rockin, you get a fastpass for it and head over to tower. You can usually do this two or three times before the fastpass times get too spread out.. By then you have usually done six or so rides and you can head on over to LMA or something.

I have to agree with you, I'm not a huge fan of the fastpass system. However I've noticed in recent years that I haven't been able to do as much because of the fastpass system. Nothing angers me more than being stuck in a standby line that appears to not move (soarin for example) and watching fastpassers run by you like the wind.

Wish space mountain I will get on the standby line. Once that is done, it's time for my fastpass. Everything else really depends on the park. In the Magic Kingdom, you have a myriad of other short line rides to choose from while waiting, or even character signing. In Animal Kingdom, Epcot and Disney Studios that's mot really an option.

Usually I will get into the stand by lane and wait so that when I get off it is time for my fast pass. Sometimes (depending on the park, the time, and the proximity) I will run over and do another ride. Sometimes I time it right and watch fireworks or a parade. I really like the fastpass system.

I work FastPasses into our touring plans. We'll spend the time waiting for our FastPasses to activate doing normal touring - other attractions, playgrounds, walkthroughs, lunch, etc. If we're seeing a lesser attraction, chances are we've got FastPasses for a nearby headliner in our pockets.

I like many others here work fastpasses into the daily schedule. I mean, I don't plan days ahead of when I'm going to get a fastpass, but usually we'll go to a ride, observe the stand by times and fastpass times, and if we can devise a quick schedule to occupy our time until the FP, we'll do it. If the stand by is easier, we hop on that. Usually we'll see a show or a ride with a small wait. Sometimes with 10 min. left we'll just go and take a seat near the attraction. Although it has its opportunity costs (consequences for stand by guests) i still think it's a great system.

One Week left til WDW:sohappy:
