What to do on a WDW rainy day

what to do on a rainy day depends on whether you have kids or not :animwink: I would rather reach for the Do Not Disturb sign.

I've been there on a few rainy days, I will tell you that you will be hating yourself if you step in a water puddle, and the inside of your shoes gets wet. It will make your feet hurt alot more than normally just walking all day.

When we visit during April we've been fortunate enough to only experience rain on three occasions - one morning their was light drizzle which lasted for about three hours, one afternoon their was rain for about an hour (we were in the parks for both these days and didn't notice any difference to rides & shows - we were'nt in EPCOT and so I don't know whether TT closed). The third time was during an afternoon and we were at the Belz Factory Outlet - the rain came down so hard that when we were driving back along I-Drive the storm drains couldn't cope with the water and the road was flooded in places.

I just got some WDW rainy day plans from my 2003 WDW book. Here's what it says:

Head for DisneyQuest, a huge interactive play zone at Downtown Disney West Side. It'll keep the whole family entertained (and dry) for hours.

See a movie on one of AMC Theatres' 24 screens at Downtown Disney.

Consider taking in an indoor event at Disney's Wide World of Sports complex. For information, call 407-363-6600.

Don your rain gear and go to Epcot. The pavilions in Future World house a bounty of sheltered diversions. (Ponchos are sold throughout Walt Disney World for about $6 each.)

We've been there in many a downpour, and had fun, anyway. Put your poncho or rain jacket on AS SOON AS it starts to rain - don't delay, because otherwise you'll be soaked before you realize it. Also, be prepared for the fact that if you're wet already, the instant you head into a large attraction or gift shop - especially at EPCOT - you're going to FREEZE in the air conditioning! Bring along a sweatshirt or sweater to wear under the poncho.

And, as someone else already pointed out - stay out of puddles! Wet feet are no fun. (We always Scotchguard our canvas sneakers before our trips, and you'd be surprised how well it works. Carrying dry socks is worth it, too.)

You can't do anything about the weather, so you might as well be prepared for it and have fun anyway!

We've had some of our best days at Disney in the rain. Maybe coming from england helps a little we just carry on, the place empties out and we have a super splashing time:lol:

Not just spare socks, but spare shoes too. This way you can let them dry out for 24+ hours inthe room while you wear the spare pair. I personally wear "docksiders" that dry our enough to be wearable overnight.

I agree with the majority that the crowds drop in the rain and running doesn't help with puddles. Also, that poncho that might have felt a bit too warm in the park will be a blessing on the bus or monorail. They generally feel as cold as the stores since they keep the AC up pretty high.

Florida doesn't usually have drizzles. I never experienced that miserable excuse for rain until I moved up north. It either rains or it doesn't. If there is a tropical depression or storm it can rain for a long time, though.

When I was at WDW this summer it RAINED (poured) everyday I was there! At first it was bad! But when we got to MGM it was EMPTY no one was really to be seen! Walked right on to Star Tours, Muppets, Studio Tour, Tower of Terror but I had to use a Fastpass for RnR! It was like this at most of the parks! I agree that those poncos are EVIL:fork: we went to buy an umbrella but it rained so much that the two stores we went to on Main Street were OUT lol! It was sad though I wanted to see the 3 o clock parade! the cancelled 5 min before it was to start!
