Hello,

This is my first post so a big hello to all. I have a stange question. We go to Disney World every 2 years. My mom insists that she pays for the trip. Not only does she pay for the trip, she pays for everthing on the trip. She says she likes to do it for the grandkids. I am married and have 2 children. I really want to suprise her with something very special. We are visiting October 23-30. If anyone has any ideas I would greatly appreciate it!!

Thanks in advance.

Hi jmg and welcome to the boards . I don't know how much help I can be, but let me see. WDW has floral services, so if you like, you can have flowers or candy or both sent to your mother's room. That is, if you're staying on property. You can also treat her to a nice dinner, maybe Victoria & Albert's, or maybe a character breakfast. Just think of what she likes and work with that. For example, my mom's about to turn 50 in November and she likes Minnie Mouse and Belle. I want to try to take her to a character breakfast featuring one of those two. I was also thinking of treating her to dinner somewhere where the steak is good, since she loves steak.

Ok, I've rambled enough, but I hope I was able to help :). Whatever you decide, your mother will appreciate anything you do for her. Have a wonderful time :).

Hi jmg, How about checking the schedule of events for the Food & Wine Festival and see if there is anything available that would be of interest to her? If not that kind of thing, how about a nice gift from Art of Disney, something nice that she can take home & bring back memories of the visit for years to come? I have also seen some nice jewelery for her in the shop on Main Street, if she might like that. I'm sure she will be thrilled with whatever you decide upon. Good luck.

Endless Opportunities

Welcome JMG, nice first post

There are tons of possibilities...it may be helpful to us if you provide a little more detail about your mom's likes/dislikes. There are many many restaurants that could fit every taste, some like Victoria and Albert's are very special treats.

You have spa's available. The one at Grand Floridian offers any number of packages...you can prepay and just send her.

If she has any particular Disney favorites, you can focus on that (ie Mickey, Princesses, Cinderella's Castle. Also, call ahead to Disney. Ask for some of their suggestions. Be sure and check with CM's once you get there, either at the hotel, restaurants or in the parks. Many have special angles or ideas that may be good for you.

All of the above ideas are great & you are one very lucky person to have a mom who is so selfless & giving. A big  to her.
Does she collect anything, like jewelry that sort of thing? Maybe you could get a piece to add to the collection & make a special presentation along the line of...for all you do for us.

Welcome to the boards, have a great trip & bring back some pics for us.

Our last trip we took an Illuminations Cruise and had a great time. It was so nice sitting on a boat watching Illuminations from the International Gateway without a crowd of people. You can also arrange or bring on food & drinks if you wish.

Well my mom did the same thing this June with our group of 12. My mom's favorite character is Donald, so we all bought Donald t-shirts and did a big group photo. Also, we let each of the grandkids pick a pin of their choice or make a pin of their choice..with a Donald theme...then we put them all on one lanyard and they gave it to Grandma as a very special souvineer of the trip. The possibilities are endless....enjoy your trip!

Someone needs to help me out with the details, but I had a great idea, if it's still available.

About 2 years ago, I think in the Imagination Pavilion, you could buy glass paperweights with laser designs in them. The cool part was that you could have your photo lasered into the glass. They looked so cool.

Perhaps Mom would like that. It would remind her of both WDW and of you.

I hope someone comes along with more details soon.

I had thought of that as well. If I understand correctly however, you need to be there in person rather than bring a photograph. Basically you get scanned or have a 3D picture taken that is then transferred into the leucite.
Cost I think is about $125. I also think they are available on Main Street.
Really interesting...just pricy.

You can contact www.disneyflorist.com and have a basket/flowers sent to her at your room. A carriage ride is another thing you can do. I actually did this for my Mom's 70th birthday when we went over for the Hoop de Doo. We didn't tell her and we walked over to the driver and chatted like nothing was going on and then I asked her if she wanted to go for a ride. You will have to sneak the money tot he driver though since you have to pay in cash after the ride. If you get caught, just tell mom you were tipping her.

You can book the ice cream social or a behind the scenes tour for yourself and mom.

Please keep in mind that if you have not booked your trip yet or paid for it in full, I can book it for you and you will get free itinerary services included.

Get her into the GF Spa. Just got back and it was great! A definite redo when we go back in November. Get her a day package so she can enjoy all that is available.

We've used Jane and gifts of a lifetime twice. I second that option. When my cousin graduated from college we sent her cousin on a "final exam" which when finished, earned her a DDM (Doctor of Disney Magic) degree. For my brother's 40th, he went on "The Amazing Race" through Epcot.
