Hi

Long time reader but first time poster.

I have a general question and I'm hoping this might be the right area to post in.

My wife and I are heading back to WDW in September/October to celebrate our 2 year anniversary (we also honeymooned at wdw). THis time we are bringing both sets of parents with us as a family holiday.

My Father in law likes Disney (but isnt a coolaid drinking Disney fan) but is keep on exploring the resorts/DTD. He is a keen photographer. Can anyone suggest what he could do?

Now may parents! They like to rides (dad especially) but they also like to take things at a slower pace. Sit with a coffee on MSUSA and people watch. Any ideas on how to keep them occupied/happy?

From what I have read I should have some good ideas.

Many thanks

:)

I would have him visit the various resorts around the parks, such as the Grand Floridian, Polynesian and Contemporary (all near MK), and the Boardwalk, Yacht Club and Beach Club (outside of EP).

Now may parents! They like to rides (dad especially) but they also like to take things at a slower pace. Sit with a coffee on MSUSA and people watch. Any ideas on how to keep them occupied/happy?

All of the parks have areas where they can do just that, either on benches around the parks, or perhaps in various quick-service restaurants (inside or out) where they can sit and enjoy themselves.

From what I have read I should have some good ideas.

Many thanks

:)

High Noon.

Ok,take them both to frontier land for a shoot out at high noon,:ROFLOL:Only joking, come on smile,if your father in law likes photography and has a good camera, well WDW is his oyster,so to speak, take a look at the photos on this site, they are awesome, and your parents, well there's plenty of rides and coffee spots inside th magic bubble. And as far as keeping them happy, well Disney has that part all wrapped up for you,I mean,it's the most magical place on earth so get involved with both sets of parents, and keep snapping them photos and make sure there wearing their Mickey ears.

Well, if he likes to explore the resorts and DTD then definitely get him there - that's a no brainer! Some of the "different" resorts like Animal Kingdom Lodge might be something new and fun to see. Since he's big on photography, AK might be a good place to spend some time - that park has so much untapped beauty and the theming is great. You're always uncovering new things at AK.

Now may parents! They like to rides (dad especially) but they also like to take things at a slower pace. Sit with a coffee on MSUSA and people watch. Any ideas on how to keep them occupied/happy?

Sounds like your parents are the perfect "Disney-trip" parents. If they like to ride and like to take it slow, then they can pretty much do anything at all! Just don't rush them.

For a big group, I think an important thing to remember is that you don't need to be together ALL the time. Take a few hours and separate, then get back together to do things that everyone wants to do! That way you don't get annoyed with people or feel held-back.

Have a great trip!

I think as long as you give everyone space to come and go as they want everything woud work out on its own and all will have a awesome holiday!! Everyone spend time together...all 6 then spend time with each sets of parents just the 4 of you...and make time just for the 2 of you!!!!

Agree on when to meet (throughout the day) and just set them out free; this so not to conflict with what everyone wants to do.

Great suggestions so far... All of Disney will allow your "photobug" to shoot to his hearts desire... and as far as people watching... WOW.. you've come to the right place...

I would suggest to let them go as they please as you let them know your plans..

Sounds like everyone is going to have a great time!!!

Where are you staying?

How experienced are you with WDW?

In general, the Epcot Resorts (BC, YC, and BWI) are great places for adults to stay. In addition to the 3 Disney Epcot Resorts, the Swan and Dolphin are within walking distance. So if it's resort exploring you want, staying in that area allows you to walk to 5 different hotels!

The Boardwalk is always hopping at night and you can get to Epcot or DHS by boat or walking path. There are lots of opportunities to people watch in the Epcot Resort area.

My favorite place to sit with a coffee is Starring Rolls inside DHS. I've been on all the rides 100 times and no longer feel the need to power tour. However, it's fun to watch others dash for the attractions, especially at park opening, and Starring Rolls is a great place to do it from. As a compromise, you could grab some Fast Passes when you first arrive and then settle in to a seat at Starring Rolls, waiting for your FP time.

We stayed at Port Orleans Riverside for our Honeymoon and we loved it. We were in one of the Mansion Rooms over looking the river. I have been to WDW many times as a child/teenager and a few years ago with my brother and his family.

This time we are planning on staying at Saratoga Springs. We are staying with the in laws in a two bed villa and my parents are staying in a studio. We were unable to get a grand villa or a treehouse.

We are planning on going to the Halloween party as the wife and I stumbled upon it last time we were there.

Apart from that it's very fluid the holiday plans.

there are plenty of places for scenic photographs.

the Animal Kingdom Lodge is breathtaking. Fort Wilderness is also pretty beautiful. the Polynesian, yes, is pretty cool for interesting pictures of the things in the lobby.

the Grand Floridian and the Contemporary Resort are the closest to Magic Kingdom, so you could def take pictures from those places and still have a pretty landscape around you.

as for sitdowns for your parents, Magic Kingdom is your friend. benches are all over the place, and there is a sitdown attraction around every corner. Epcot is also a little similar in its design. Animal Kingdom has similar attributes, on top of perfect locations for scenic photographs.
