The show has a huge fandom and it has transcended the popularity of your standard kids show. Even the people at my job who couldn’t care less about the “stereotypical Disney stuff” all know and love it.
The fandom really isn't that big. It's definitely huge for a Disney animated TV show, but that's kind of a separate scale.
This feels like one of those scenarios where you're too close to it to be able to recognize that it's simply not comparable to movie IPs. They have things like Moana, Aladdin, Lion King, the Incredibles, Inside Out, etc. that don't have any major attractions.
Disney would have released one of the films in theaters if they thought it would be a major draw.
