DHS What should they do with Animation Courtyard?

My thoughts are that they will do nothing here. Kind of fits the trend they would destroy Muppets because they have big plans for this area, and then proceed to do nothing here for the next 25 years.

NOW, if I was in charge? First thing I'd do is see if there is anything I can do with the Marvel properties Disney does have the ability to put into the parks. Can you use Dr. Strange? You could build a pretty insane land revolving around the sanctums. Guardians would fit too, but I doubt you put them in multiple parks. I know there were jokes about Wakanda in Epcot, but maybe there is something around that you could fit in DHS? Another idea could be sticking to the animation theming. I don't have a concrete idea, but maybe there is a way you could make the land about the history of animation, or hitting the great accomplishments from Disney animation, and then you have loads of IP you can add in.

That would be such a dumb idea that I fully expect them to break ground next week on it 🤣
oh god, I can totally see them doing it not at d23 to avoid the boos it would get. It would definitely get people talking not about eu. And Josh did say there would be PHYSICAL elements to the collaboration.

Oh no.

I’m starting to think this “imminent AC expansion annoucement” might not exist. Something just doesn’t add up about it.

Think about it: an announcement on the WEEK OF EU’s opening, forgoing the rigid and established D23 status quo, in the animation courtyard plot, the one that EVERYONE was mad at Disney for not using for monsters Inc, with a mystery IP that nobody has heard what it is, or is willing to say what it is? Doesn’t that sound a bit too good to be true?

remove and relocate IaSW to area behind traintracks just north of Tron. Give it an entire IaSW themed area replacing the Circus tents, with Mary Blaire aesthetic and square trees, Fountain, maybe food and such, with entrance and que/boats laoding/unloading on one side of tracks and ride on the other, kinda like in DL. You could give it a plussed up DL vibe in that area.

Then replace IaSW with Tangled boat ride and tangled restaraunt replacing pinnochios.

If you’re moving IASW, it’s moving to EPCOT.

I'm wondering if this AC replacement will be a catch all type land not tied to a single IP. I've always pondered over the possibility of some sort of Disney Animation area. Or this rumor was totally false and Disney is waiting to see the box office numbers of something like Incredibles 3 or the 2026 DAS movie before committing to an AC replacement.

Yes, a catch all would be cool, but it doesn’t seem like what DHS is going for with the single IP lands. The opposite direction. Also, they blocked a bunch of stuff last year. And announcing something the EU week seems desperate and Disney doesn’t show public signs of desperation. Not that kidna company. Even Len, the guy who reported it, only described it as “vague concepts”.

What I think really happened is a mix of the two. Vague concepts for a land have stated to be drawn up for the future of animation courtyard, and stuff is in development for it, but it was miscommunicated as “this year”.

I think a lot of us have been desperate for something to talk about here that isn’t the same old reheated “DISNEY IS DYING BECAUSE ROA RAAAH” arguments over and over. This was a hit of that kinda thing, and I think we may have gotten a bit carried away. But I could all be wrong and be rambling for no good reason.

Unless it actually is fortnite. In which case: ugh.

I’m assuming that, if Animation Courtyard gets anything before D23 2028, it’ll be a small replacement for Lauch Bay. No real demo.

This is where Bluey makes a lot of sense. Swap the M&Gs from Star Wars to Bluey characters, add a gift shop and an indoor playground. Then your lifeless husk of a building gets a few extra years of relevance for cheap.
I imagine this is more of what we will see in the short term. Once Mermaid open, the rest of the Courtyard will need something else to stay fresh. Disney Junior and Launch Bay are prime locations for something minor to get people's attention until a much larger project opens up. So I think we will see changes much sooner than people think but it won't be anything major.

Just had a terrible thought. Yknow how Disney invested money into Fortnite, and Josh said Fortnite will tie into the parks?

Fortnite land in animation courtyard?
I mean honestly…

The gigantic family-friendly video games are Nintendo, Minecraft, Clash of Clans/Royale, and Fortnite

It’s a matter of time before Minecraft gets turned into a Theme Park, either by Microsoft or Disney/Universal.

So while I personally have no connection to Fortnite, it would actually make some sense.

I believe Minecraft was licensed by Merlin entertainment.

I hate that this has a non-zero chance of happening. New biggest park fear unlocked, if they made a Fortnite land I think I’d never go to a Disney park ever again. I’ll enjoy my Country Bear show tapings at home, thank you very much.
