DHS What should they do with Animation Courtyard?

Yes
It is actually exactly what DHS needs. It truly does not need another E-ticket, height restricted ride.

I think Incredibles in the vein of Spiderman would be awesome. Maybe some Big Hero Six.
Maybe some IPs that used to be featured at the park? Hercules maybe?

For me the most glaring need for plussing in this park is everything around the Chinese Theater. The theater itself is a lovely icon/weenie, but the old studio-style beige boxes around it just look cheap and un-themed. I hoped the Mickey and Minnie R.R. would rectify some of this, particularly the exit area, but nothing was done. The Hollywood that never was but will always be is a fine theme, but the studio that fizzled and continues to linger needs to go.

They project onto those facades which is why they’re so plain. Not saying it can’t be changed but they are that way for a reason.

I wish there were a 👍x💯 button for this.

If they still had the “Stage [#]” signs, at least it would make thematic sense even though they’d still be ugly. But now, with no explanation at all, it’s insane. This is similar to the half-finished Star Tours facades that no longer have indicators they’re a movie set—now it just looks old-Universal cheap/unimmersive.

They project on the Tower of Terror…

No chance a full deal gets done for Marvel rights in Orlando for less than $5 billion. That's just based on the approximate value to Universal at IOA in terms of comps based on multiples of (estimated) EBITDA from Marvel SH Island, not accounting for any sort of additional premium they might seek. More likely to get a deal done in the $10-20 billion range, if at all. I could see a partial deal of certain characters as more likely than a full Marvel deal.

You are absolutely out to lunch.

The entire build cost of Epic Universe was 7.5B. Are you implying the theme parks *rights* of a single IP for a single geographic region of something that would still need to be built are worth multiples of that physically completed property?

The financial hurdle is that your competitor would be out significant money to redo the land, not the rights.

On the one hand, I'll admit it'd be pretty bizarre seeing Rocky and Bullwinkle at Disney World... but on the other hand, I do love Rocky and Bullwinkle and I think they'd be less out of place than the Simpsons.

Didn't they once want to add Rocky and Bullwinkle, Dudley Do-Right, Mr. Peabody etc. to It's a Small World?

Animation Courtyard should become Halloween Town / Nightmare Before Christmas, with a classic Haunted Mansion / Mystic Manor style dark ride. Seeing the passion for Villains Land (and all things dark, including over at Universal with Dark Universe and HHN), a dark-vibe land at DHS would be very popular, sell lots of products, and be a great holiday-party plaza Oct.-Dec.

These characters could easily fit into a Toontown-style concept without feeling out of place—remember, even Casper and Felix the Cat were originally slated to appear in Who Framed Roger Rabbit. The real appeal of acquiring these properties would be for new films and Disney+ content, not standalone attractions (unless executed exceptionally well).

Mr. Peabody could seamlessly integrate into EPCOT or Tomorrowland, thanks to his Wayback Machine. Rocky and Bullwinkle could perhaps find a home in Magic Kingdom or one of the wilderness-themed resorts. Fractured Fairytales deserves a fresh take, like a "What-If" anthology, allowing Disney to poke fun at their own princess catalog. Casper and Wendy could be great for Halloween events, and the Rankin/Bass stop-motion stuff slotted in the Holiday offerings.

In short, these properties are more versatile, more so than The Simpsons. More on-brand. It's an opinion of course. Just an idea to throw out there—Comcast could be open to it, depending on the deal. A trade for this and that with the included purchase of X to regain the park rights to MARVEL.

Crazy, I know.

Good choice. Great for an indoor space where the spooky can be amplified in perpetual night. IF Villains doesn't go the way I'm expecting with regards to their official name... I could see a similar nightmare played out here. A solid contender in my mind. Another dark horse, but one I'll be rooting for. Take that, Haunted Mansion Holiday! A whole land to Oogie Boogie bask in!

This why I still think Villains should have gone to DHS and make it a true mature park. But it would still need more all-family rides.

Agreed. I'm thinking the saccharine sweet kiddy Kingdom of Magic is going to affect how these Villians are portrayed. Not at all happy about it. But that's a whole'nother can of worms I don't want to get into right now. I've been told to deal with it. Sigh.

Does this mean you know the name? If so, are you excited?

They project on detailed buildings and rock-work elsewhere- it's not an excuse. It's projection without projection mapping. Lazy and cheap.
Fair enough, but it does allow them to project clear enough images that they can use original movie footage unlike elsewhere. Again, not saying it has to be that way, just that it does serve a purpose.
