DHS What should they do with Animation Courtyard?

Moana, Marvel, Incredibles?
Marvel and Incredibles could be part of a larger, legendary heroes-themed land. Still see this for Echo Lake. Moana also works but only if shored up (pun intended, yw) with the Little Mermaid show becoming a oceanic area. Doesn't exactly fit the Hollywood vibe though unless it's made into some sort of seaside district like a wharf or boardwalk.

I mean at this point... what is the hollywood vibe other than stepping into the movies?

I'm honestly quite happy to hear this.

They did a nice job with short-term placemaking in "Muppets Courtyard." It was never going to last too long, but they nonetheless added a nice marquee to Muppet*Vision, themed up the Rizzo's and Gonzo's buildings, etc. (Obviously there were understandable mixed reactions to changing the fountain and removing the mural, though personally I liked the more subdued look of the area.)

The same could go for this area. Making it even a little bit interesting and even a little bit thematically cohesive would be a vast improvement - at least it might feel like a theme park land, or at minimum an environment one doesn't actively dislike being in!

Now if only they could do the same with Pixar Plaza, we'd really be on a roll...
Yes, the Muppets, famously “subdued.”

They dethemed the Muppets area and further discouraged foot traffic.

If it was Moana I think there would be no temporary plans for the area. Marvel might not be too far fetched especially if Comcast makes a bid for WBD's streaming assets next year and gets them. They would probably want to phase out Marvel for DC.
Disney. Is. Not. Getting. Marvel.

Even if Universal gets WB, why give up Marvel? Why help your competitor, spend unnecessary cash, and mess with one of your most acclaimed and popular rides? Why trade away the most successful franchise in film history in exchange for a famously unstable IP? Why not just be the resort with ALL the superheroes?

Yeah, Universal would rather be the resort that has Spider-Man AND Batman on advertisements than the resort that killed one of the best dark rides ever for an IP that thought The Rock could save it.

Even put the rest of the land to the side, they have one of the holy trinity of superheroes in Spider-Man and have given him a fantastic ride. It would take something truly shocking for them to give him away.

I don’t know. Money speaks. I think Disney will get back the rights at some point. As much as I would love that, I am not convinced we would get any great rides from them if they did.

I'm sure they'd love the rights back but I don't see why Universal would give them up. Though I can think of one such instance where Disney/Universal might consider a trade. I still get the impression that Disney really doesn't know what to do with The Simpsons, not for the parks and not for streaming. Merely, holding on to it long enough... to then prop it up for sale. Blasphemous thinking I'm sure. Laughable even! But try as they might, it still doesn't fit within their brand.

I could see them making a play to sell Universal on all of the Animation Domination properties, a way to acquire MARVEL in full. And maybe with it, a sprinkling of other acquisitions like Dreamworks Classic Media catalog. (Casper, Felix the Cat, Rankin/Bass properties, Jay Ward properties) DIS stock would falter at the very idea, but I think it'd be an ideal scenario in the long run.

Personally, I want AC to remain Animation Courtyard.

And with it, a rebirth of TOONTOWN, however unlikely. In my mind, it still remains the most fitting theme for a Disney-owned Hollywood-inspired theme park. Shame DHS never got what could have been.

Honestly, they could just fill this space with a bunch of bus/bar dark rides and I’d be so thrilled. Could focus on the films that were animated in the park?
It is actually exactly what DHS needs. It truly does not need another E-ticket, height restricted ride.

I think Incredibles in the vein of Spiderman would be awesome. Maybe some Big Hero Six.

I don't think Disney has enough money they can afford to part with to get Comcast to let go of Marvel.
