What ride would you hate disney for if they closed it down?

I understand your question DPH but I don't think you can compare Dreamflight with any of the attractions you listed above.

no way! dreamflight was one of your faves too?! i LOVED that ride! i really miss it! that whole ride was so awesome! i found the whole ride on Napster before it pretty much shut down, and i love listening to it! brings back so many memories!!

I didn't think Dreamflight was anything spectacular, I think it belonged in Epcot. I knew it would never make it in the Magic Kingdom, that was always the attraction that I thought was out of place.

i'm truely sorry if i made myself a little unclear. i wasn't trying to compare dreamflight to the more popular attractions, nor was i trying to say that that particular area had more traffic when the attraction wasn't capitalized on Disney characters. but i was merely trying to make a point. it seems to me like DIsney is doing more and more captializing on their characters, which is all fine and good. but removing a classic attraction with no Disney characters to replace it with an attraction with Disney characters breaks my heart. my world revolves around reliving my childhood memories, particurally through WDW. and it's becoming more and more difficult to do that when all my childhood memories are being destroyed to make room for newer attractions that seem to be less than adaquate compared to the original. to me, and to more people, i'm sure, DreamFlight was a classic. and they take it out to capitalize on characters? don't get me wrong, Buzz is definately a fun ride, and i enjoy it throughally. but they could've put that ride somewhere else in TL and revamped and made DreamFlight a little more modern (not too much, though)
but in no way was i trying to say that DreamFlight was just as popular as the likes of Space Mountain and Test Track. obviously, and unfortunately, that's simply not true.
now, i know Walt always said the parks would never be complete, and that they would continue to grow and change with the times. but did he really mean to completely take out the classics and completely capitalize on the films? sure, that was the start of the Disney company...the films. but personally, i want WDW to be something more than all about the films. i want it to be an experience that will take me places everytime i visit....i want it to take me into the future, to take me to different countries, take me to the wild west, colonial America, fantasy worlds....not just take me into cartoons. to me, i think that's what Walt wanted too.

My comment was simply speculation on my part.... although I truly feel that Disney removed DreamFlight because they weren't making money off of it. It also breaks my heart to see them do it.... but unfortunately money is what makes Disney run... :( :fork:

DreamFlight had to do with the history and future of flight. I think it fit perfectly with the rest of the Tomorrowland attractions. Although I see where you are coming from.... it could have easily been a secondary attraction at World of Motion... or even a small attraction located near Innoventions.

I agree with mktiggerman, I sorely miss Mr. Toad. I realize Pooh is a popular character but I just felt as though they robbed me of a classic.

Well... some of these atttractions do have characters. They might not be the most 'Disney' characters around though, and they certainly aren't traditional characters such as Mickey and Minnie. For example, Test Track has Lumpy & Fletch, the 2 test dummies who can be seen walking about the building. (I have both of their signatures in my 'rare' charachter autograph book!) ToT even has characters - the guests who were in the elevator that disappeared. While they may not be seen walking around the parks, they are in the ride, and in the movie. Almost all attractions have detailed storylines, and if you look hard enough, you can usually find some characters. You are right though, they do not all use typical Disney characters.

well, i wasn't meaning the characters that are unique to certain rides. those types of characters are seen only at those rides and don't have their own full length movie. and the 'fab 5' are fine to me as well seeing as though those are the original Disney characters, and the creation of the Disney empire. but when it comes to Disney milking characters such as Buzz, Aladdin, the Pooh characters, etc. for all they're worth, i just get a little upset by it. Disney is beyond a doubt the top creative company on the planet, and they have the money and the resources to create new, original characters and storylines to make rides unique. instead they decide to go for a 'cheap pop' and throw in a already made character in a ride that, in my opinion, at times looks like it's been thrown together.
take JII for instance. a hell of a ride! original in every aspect! unique characters, unique storyline, unique music! yes, the popularity dwindled, but did that mean that had to completely take all of that out and put in an attraction like JIYI? it had no characters (besides the ominous voice of Eric Idle), very little storyline, no creativity (most of the 'illusions' you could've seen in a magic show), and did it even have music at all? the latter of the two had no Disney characters at all in it, i know...i'm just trying to make a point. it seems as though when they start to lose money on an attraction with no Disney characters, the quickly tear it out and put in an attraction with a pre-fabricated Disney character for some quick money. and also, it seems to me that they're putting quality on the back-burner when it comes to putting in a new attraction (with the exception of MS...i'll have to check that one out before i pass judgement on it) that may not be the case at all, but that's just how it seems to me. and yes, new attractions do create more traffic, but it's because it's new and people are curious about it...how long will it be before they have to tear out the new rides and replace them due to lack of popularity? maybe 10 years?...give or take?

I think there are certain rides that sort of define each park. In the MK for example, it just wouldn't be the MK without the classic Haunted Mansion. PoC is a close second. At EPCOT, Space Ship Earth is the dominate ride for the entire park. At DS, ToT. I'm not certain what AK's signature ride would be. Probably the Safari. Take any of these away and the park is just not the park!

Ya that's a good question, I don't think AK has a signature ride.

They took away Mr. Toads Wild Ride ,I want him back !

But some attractions are not bad ,there just put in the wrong place : the Lion King in Fantasyland instead of Adventureland, The Rock'n Roller Coaster on Sunset Blvd instead of on the Backlot.

;)

Peter Pan was the very first ride I ever went on at WDW. It always holds a special memory for me for that reason. I was awed be the detail and imagination that went in to developing the ride. Even though I would miss it greatly if they were to close it, I don't think it defines the park as much as some of the other rides.
