What planet would you replace Batuu at Disneyland?

This is a fair point. They should remove the First Order's presence from Galaxy's Edge and make it strictly Resistance.
Not Resistance. It’ll have a population of locals, villainy and scum. Make it about future Jedi lurking in the background with some First Order intelligence coming into contact  . Then have some Storm troopers monitoring the situation with a visit from Kylo Ren. Or switch out with Vadar and Luke :)).

Yeah and it's BORRRRRIINNNNNGGGGGG. ZZZZZZZZZZ.

I thought a lot about what you could have in a Tatooine version of Galaxy's Edge. Assuming you're playing by the same "rules" as the existing park (which, admittedly, some people don't like or don't care about.)

The rules are, it's set in a specific time period and you can't just have characters and events happening that aren't justified, story-wise.

So, a little background. The Tatooine sections of ANH take place over two days.

Day 1 - We meet Luke, Owen buys the droids, R2 runs away
Day 2 - Luke and 3P0 find R2, meet Obi Wan, Beru and Owen Dead, they go to Mos Eisley, meet Han and fly off.

You can't "set" the park on Day 2, as you couldn't recreate those events. So Day 1 it is.

Here's what you COULD have in the park:

The Falcon (though it wasn't just parked out doors in the movie, but you could fudge that somehow)
Smuggler's Run w/ Jabba as the MC (in universe explanation is that, due to Han's debt, Jabba is loaning out the Falcon until Han pays him back.)
The Cantina
Stormtroopers walking around, looking for the droids and any other Rebel sympathizers/allies of Leia
Chewie
Boba Fett, Greedo, other ANH aliens
MAYBE a character Han, though Han would have no interest in talking to passing locals
MAYBE Vader if you explain that Vader went down to coordinate with the search parties
MAYBE Obi Wan. He could have been running errands in town
MAYBE you could have Biggs Darklighter looking to recruit people for the Alliance - though that's a bit of a stretch

You COULDN'T have:

X-Wings or Rebel Alliance hardware or equipment of any kind
Any real story elements regarding the Rebels except possibly the Biggs idea
R2 or 3PO
Other Jedi characters (obviously)
Luke

I gotta admit, I could see that working. It would give you that recognizability factor, but it would be far, far worse as an actual vacation destination. It's a flat, blown out desert. If you thought there was no shade on Batuu, just wait until you get to Tatooine.

You could certainly have all the same shops, except, I guess, for "Alliance Supply. Savi's Workshop is a "buy" in the ST era just as much as it would be in the OT era, so that'd be fine.

What I like about Batuu, though, is that the story isn't pre-determined. But, those in-story elements aren't really used to their full potential yet anyway and most people arguably don't care about them.

I see advantages and disadvantages to this approach, but it's certainly possible.

I’m just over here wondering what a purpose built Star Wars thrill ride is like and why we don’t have one in a 14 acre Star Wars Land.
Bingo. This "what planet would be better" is a stupid and pointless argue. Even a "rebranded" Galaxy's Edge won't change the planet. All the land needs is greenery and more things to do that's fun for everyone at the flat cost of admission. We don't need the cantina, the one we have works just as well. We don't need Han Solo on the Falcon because that doesn't fix how boring the ride is. Whether it's Jawas selling the droids or CM's who don't care, that doesn't change that this "attraction" costs $100.

Give Galaxy's Edge an X-Wing coaster, give Galaxy's Edge Star Tours, give Galaxy's Edge some fun things to do in the land. That's all it needs.

It would likely be similar to Hyperspace.
You mean the best Star Wars ride in the park currently except this time specifically designed with Star Wars in mind? That sounds great. They should do that.

Well I think in Disney's mind they already have that and it didn't cost them very much to do, so why build it again.

I disagree but I respect your point of view.

If WDW pro is right it sounds like they may have gotten the hint.

Have they stopped using it part time, no. And unless SM is demoed with a TL redo there is no indication its going away.

TL has to cut the cord with Star Wars eventually. Whether it happens next year or after a TL redo remains to be seen but it is going to happen.

It'll be gone eventually. I don't see it sticking around much longer once Rise is open.

We'll see what happens, but I just don't see it ever going away completely as its too popular. Its the same reason why HMH will likely never go away either unless HM goes away, its again too popular.

Well if they want to make sure Hyperspace Mountain never goes away and can continue for the rest of Disneyland's history, you know what they could do? Build an X-Wing coaster that fully develops the concept resulting in an even better experience.

Difference is there is no Nightmare Before Christmas Land.

It ll be gone after they build a proper Star Wars coaster in Star Wars Land. I predict Hyperspace Mountain goes to yesteryear within the next 5 years.

Again we'll see, just my opinion.
