What planet would you replace Batuu at Disneyland?

Let's face it, none of the planets would ever work in a theme park. There's far too much working against them being pleasant or realistic. That's part of what makes Batuu so stupid. WDI had a chance to design a planet perfect for a theme park that would be pleasant, realistic, and feel like Star Wars, and yet they blew it. It's a shame, really.

What's not pleasant about it?

And that makes the land pleasant?

It makes it feel like SW. What are you advocating? A tropical paradise? Sure, it would be lovely, but it wouldn't evoke Star Wars.

There's nothing unpleasant about Batuu (though it could use a little more greenery.) Anything posh and polished would be all wrong.

I don't think they lied because the infrastructure for that stuff is there. It was TDA entertainment that cut those things from the budget because, well, new senior executive Bob from accounting needed a new Telsa company car.

Don't blame Entertainment. They don't make the budget. It's TDA Resort Suits that do that. Foods was ready to run a Nightclub connected to Oga's--they didn't cut the budget--Chapek did. Entertainment was totally up for more Atmo, but Chapek and his posse cut them off.

Yavin? Scariff? Naboo? Endor? All pleasant places. Scariff is even a literal tropical paradise. Not that I want Scariff, but your notion that there's nothing nice in the Star Wars galaxy is wrong. The original Star Tours captured the lived in feeling of Star Wars while remaining pleasant. Batuu is not a place I would want to visit in real life.

While I agree that Disneyland ethos is to provide a pleasant environment, that's not at all that I want from Star Wars. Sure, Star Tours is pleasant, but it's also fulfills the fantasy of walking through an airport and surviving a bad airline flight. It's cute (and I really like it!), but it is the most middle class, pedestrian vision of that universe ever. I want more than that and I'm glad they tried something different in SWGE, succeed or fail.

To be clear, I agree, but if they're going to create a Star Wars land in Disneyland, it needs to conform to Disneyland. If this was a third gate with different rules I wouldn't have this same objection (or at least not to the same extent).

Your argument is pretty terrible and pretty vague. Star Tours takes place entirely inside a ship (or the spaceport to get to the ship.)

GE is an entire town. It's supposed to be a rough and tumble remote outpost on the edge of space.

It has the Tatooine/Jedha/Jakku vibe, which immediately "feels" like Star Wars. None of the other planets you listed have that unique Star Wars je ne sais quoi about them. I never said there were "no" places in Star Wars that feel nice, just that our very first introduction to the SW universe (and the place which was visited most frequently across the franchise) was in a place very much like Batuu.

Having lush, tropical gardens, babbling brooks and gently swaying palm trees would completely ruin the emotional texture of what Batuu is supposed to be.

And what's wrong with a woodsy area with petrified trees? Never been to the real Petrified Forest? It's a terrific place to visit. Batuu is very pretty to look at.

Feels like you're just being grouchy here. Short of doing a literal Tatooine clone with a desert landscape (another "desolate" choice") few things would evoke that SW feel instantly more than Batuu in its current form.

How about just a better Batuu like we saw in the concept art? With more greenery and a place that felt like it had life to it. Not an abandoned movie set.

You’re not getting what I’m say. I don’t care how “Star Wars” it feels, I care how “Disneyland” it feels. That comes first.

Disagree. If they wanted to make it feel like Disneyland, that would have been the far easier choice.

Well, that sucks, because that's what the land desperately needs.

Batuu is a great idea for the land. It's inspired. It's arguably the best possible idea they could have come up with.

But now they need to build on what's there to really maximize the full potential of the experience. It's good, but it could be much more.

Give us more characters, more interactions. Get R2 roaming around the land. Add 3PO. Add in aliens. How about that teased bounty hunter? That's a marvelous idea that's just sitting on the shelf. Get him out there, actually going into the cantina, talking to the patrons, etc.

More show scenes. The Kylo Ren scene is great. But it should be one of several scenes that form a narrative that plays out through the day. The previewed Vi Moradi stunt show is awesome and needs to be the capper to that story.

More things to touch and to "do." It was only at the end of the day that we stumbled onto that "Solo"-movie speeder bike that you could sit on. More like that, please. Give us an x-wing we can actually touch and pose in front of.

How about a kids' play area? Give the tykes ways to get their hands dirty and blow off steam. Very easy to make that "immersive" - create a "junkyard" in the Resistance area. Old derelict bits of ships and large droids gathered together that kinds could climb on and around.

How about a vehicle that moves around the park? We know they were developing an animal "ride", but if that's too tough, how about an 8-person landspeeder that can just cruise from one end to the other? Or heck even make the landspeeder just for characters, if for no other reason than to give the park that needed kinetic movement.

Many of these are/were on the planning board. It's time to unleash the full potential of GE to really make it something special.

This has nothing to do with ease, it has to do with competence, something modern Imagineering lacks.

All excellent ideas. Those things would have made the place more fun. Right now it just feels lifeless even when the hoard shows up.

Your entire pitch is to just create mock-ups of film locations that you can, what, walk through like the houses in Toon Town? I mean, seriously, what is fun about that? None of your specific ideas for rides or attractions actually work.

A version of Tatooine could have worked, but just name-checking a laundry list of locations is not a sustainable or remotely interesting idea.
yeah because mock ups of film locations is such a horrible idea that no one wants to visit *cough* WIZARDING WORLD OF HARRY POTTER THAT IS SUPER POPULAR AND RE-CREATED IN MULTIPLE PARKS *cough* yeah who would want that? Get outta here with that bull jive

Think of a planet from the star wars universe you like and tell us what will be there.
Since the land is next to Frontierland,
I might change it to Tatooine,

A planet from the original Star Wars and can feature lots to do.

You could visit Mos Eisly Spaceport and ride the Falcon ride with a story where Chewie and Han employ the guests to help them on a mission.

But then there will be a pod racer dueling, launching roller coaster with lots close encounters through a pod race. There will be show scenes from the actual podrace (parts of Track will be there) but will instead feature a pod race from the time before a New Hope.

You can also visit the Cantina with the band playing and another place will be Jabba’s Palace.

This idea is for DL but DHS version should stay the same, DL one has problems.

It sounds like Tatooine is the best choose. I prefer Han or Chewy than Hondo.
