What other franchises would work in Universal?

Call me crazy but I think a TED (Seth MacFarlane) show can be real funny to be a show like Turtle Talk...

After all, Seth is capable of making some REALLY FUNNY jokes without alcohol, violence, cussing, sex, or drugs. (It sounds kinda weird but it's true)

A Ted attraction would be awesome! At the very least, they oughta make Ted a walk-around character. :p

Of course, I'm still waiting on my Quahog land with an epic Family Guy dark ride, Big Pete's House of Munch and McBurgertown restaurants, Drunken Clam bar, and Quahog Mini-Mart shop...

Well on that note, I'd like a South Park dark ride through the town and the climax through Imagination Land!

I think a Tom & Jerry dark ride would be great in a refurbed kid zone. I feel like they are still relevant and timeless ...

Sorry, but even as much as I enjoyed Tom and Jerry, it's time has long passed.

Ted is far too vulgar for the theme park crowd.

Star Trek is really the only thing currently being discussed in this thread that I can even remotely see happening. But even that still has far too much of a "Nerd" vibe to be accepted by the general populace, even with the success of the last movie. Maybe in two or three new movies that are as big of a hit as the last one, we'll see attitude start to shift.

As mentioned before I think lord of the rings would be great.
I kno disney are apparently looking at avatar land but personally think that it would be much better in universal.i think it's more up their street.
Avatar just isn't disney.

Some others I think would be good

As mentioned before
Alien- possibly a sort of walkthru tour like posiodens fury only with huge AA aliens, they could even have a drop ride/ simulator to make you feel like your in a drop ship heading for LV 426 to start it.:) heck they could even retheme what's left of lost continent if they needed, although that would be a shame.

Paranormal activity- imagine if they made an attraction similar to the alien encounter that stitch replaced, sat in a seance in a circle, goes pitch black then stuff moves, touches you,you see things etc.scary or what? :/

Saw- here in England we have an awesome saw coaster and a creepy maze,it would be cool to see how the US would take it on.

I really really hope they don't retheme toon lagoon, the rides are amazing Dudley doo right could do with a makeover but that's it.toon lagoon is awesome.

Universal was offered Avatar first but they declined.
They supposedly passed on it.

I don't blame them...with more Potter and Jurassic Park and Transformers, I really don't see why they would feel the need for Avatar...Lord of the Rings or Star Trek sure, but Avatar isn't a hot long-lasting commodity.

I didn't hate Avatar, but I think it's safe to say the box office numbers are in no way indicative of its sustainability as a franchise. Most people saw it for its (formerly novel) gimmick and walked away with a collective response of, "Nice visuals, but meh." I'm actually starting to wonder if they'll even bother with the delayed sequels.

cars land is great because of the incredible theming and great E ticket avatar will too if given the same treatment JMHO

i like this quote from a different web site

"The Avatar theme is ripe for beautiful imagination and theming, which is a huge plus. But the attractions WILL stand on their own regardless of the vehicle and this is the point detractors need to get over (i.e. Hold disney to a quality standard, not a brand standard). Quality is what counts, not your personal likes or dislikes"

In a perfect world, that quote might be true. In reality, I think it's completely wrong.

Being a theme park enthusiast, I can enjoy practically any theme park attraction that's done well, regardless of the theme. With that said, I don't represent the general public, and parks aren't just in the business of creating good attractions, they need to create good attractions that will appeal to the masses. I don't think Avatar will do that. People know what it is, but it won't get them through the turnstiles IMO, which in turn means the potential quality of the attraction won't matter.

Disney has been lucky in the past, being able to turn original ideas into staple attractions, but when you're dealing with preexisting IPs, it's important to pick one people actually want to see. It's equally important to pick one you'll be able to do justice. I'm not convinced they can recreate Pandora successfully. I'm not sure if Universal would've been able to either. Regardless, I'm glad they passed on it.

i think you re way underselling the value of avatar...too many people loved the movie (ratings on FX, box gross, rotten tomatoes, dvd/blue ray sales) all say huge success...the general public want new interactive experiences which is avatars wheel house

2 movies have compared themselves to avatar lately (the croods, life of pi) there is as reason for this..avatar still resonates with people...it almost doubled the avengers in gross and with two more films coming out i like its chances....i also like cameron working on this project.....
quality matters more than IP....
again cars land is great because of two reasons
1. great E ticket
2. great theming

if avatar follows this path im more than confident it will be successful....im being open minded about it and when it opens we can then judge the success of the ride/land

anyways just my stinky opinion

In regards to Hannah Barbarra, when I was much, much younger there was a Hannah Barbarra land in Texas that covered them all... Maybe a revamped kid zone stricly off of their creations (scooby, flintstones, etc)

The First thing Universal needs to do is update the attractions that our outdated(or replace them entirely)
Universal Studios Florida
Shrek: Rumors say that this attraction is on its way out. Considering that Shrek is over and the last two movies were a bore this needs to go soon, it's sad that you can buy the same movie they show at Universal pretty much anywhere, this needs to be replaced with a walk through attraction, considering that USF is lacking a true walkthrough attraction,Classic Monsters? Except I heard something about a Borgin and Burkes in WWOHP phase 2)
Twister: I hate this thing! The movie is way outdated, the special effects are cheap, and overall it's just plain boring IMO. They could do wonders with bringing some kind of indoor water ride back here(think POTC) considering with JAWS gone USF needs a water ride. Maybe
Revenge of the Mummy: It could use a few updates, the fake exit scene looks pretty bad along with the first scene.
Fear Factor Live: Replace this with some kind of James Bond show! Maybe a stunt show? anything but FFL
Terminator 2: Updates rumored, possibly updating Special Effects
Kidzone: completely retheme it to Spongebob, make E.T. part of Hollywood with an update tied in as well
Islands of Adventure
Marvel Super Hero Island: Unless Disney will allow them to make changes and add rides(Which they wont), MSHI needs to be rethemed in the next 5-10 years. I would love to see if they could get their hands on the DC rights from Six Flags, they MIGHT be regional.
other Ip's could be
Rocky and Bullwinkle
Lord of the Rings
Star Trek
The Flinstones(?)
Psycho
Jason Bourne
The Jetsons
Cowboys and Aliens
Scooby Doo
Expansion of the Lorax
Expansion of the Grinch(Mount Crumpit)
TED(Adults only comedy show?)
Oblivion
ALIEN
Im sure theres others too!

Transformers- This is one of Hollywood's biggest franchises right now, of course you'll need to cash in on it. It also has nostalgia power behind it with the folks wo grew up with the 80's toys and cartoon. I personally hate the Michael Bay movies and think they're some of the worst movies ever made, but the ride looks great.
