Well, realistically, we all had to know the day was eventually going to come when they couldn't get "monorail guy" to re-record new speils for the monorails. I'll sure miss his voice as it had become synonomous with the monorails for me and I'm sure when I hear the new voice its going to be a shocker. But, I knew the day would come when new spiels would have to be made and "the voice" would not always be available to update the spiels. IMO, mentioning things like SGE and MVMCP are great ways to advertise what's new or happening in the parks for people that are there at that moment. I very much like the idea of the spiels being updated frequently to include things like this. I imagine if the Epcot loop has been changed that Mission:Space has been added also, and perhaps Soarin' will be mentioned by next May.

With time, hopefully the "new" voice will become the new "monorail guy" for all of us and for future generations....

Based on what is in the script - Holiday references as well as SGE - Sounds temporary. A bit of a shock and a tad monotone, IMO. Doesnt have the same vocal presence as teh other guy.

Hopefully it is temporary. I agree with what CTXRover said and that we al knew it was going to happen one day, but it still sucks  Like I said earlier, that voice IS Disney for me.

I've just got back from six days at WDW and yes I heard the new narrator. Its sad, the previous person sounded upbeat and genuine; this one lacks the warmth. WDW have clearly decided they need to promote their newest offerings during the Monorail trip. On one we were told about Stitch (and bye the bye have Disney messed up there or what? Compared to Alien it is lacklustre and suffers from lack of story integrity), on another we were told about what was happening at EPCOT and the Osbourne Lights at the Studios. I hope they bring back the more familiar tape on the Monorail but I guess there is as much chance as 20K leagues returning.

Last Tuesday i took the monorail from the Polynesian to the MK and that was the first time that i experienced the new audio. The original Spanish Bit- "por favor, etc." was still there, the rest was new.
The audio level was AT LEAST twice as loud, if not MORE so than usual. And the new monorail jockey had a much deeper voice. The two factors= Almost painful.
It was so loud that you could even hear the echos as you completely left the monorail station on foot. Not the monorail, but the station...
They probably were still in testing stages? I hope.
I had always thought of the monorail experience as relaxed scenic experience where the magic sold itself. I have a feeling that those days are behind.
Perhaps i should have taken the complete round trip tour or even the Epcot ride before i judge it. But to be honest, i really couldnt take another minute of audio pick-pocketing...
The new audio version (like the former) still points out the more expen$ive resort eateries. But also suggests other places to spend your $$.
Perhaps at the award winning golf course$ and ladies and gentlemen, dont forget to buy your Ticket$ for Mickeys Very Merry Christma$ Party.
... And of course, i almost forgot the plug for Stitches Great Escape complete with Stitches LOUD burps- very wholesome and entertaining for all.
This was just in the first two stops. The new spiel is definately in pieces that can easily be added or taken away depending on whatever events or attractions are added or in Disneys case taken away <-- sarcasm
I finally figured out where the rest of the SGE budget went- monorail upgrades...

I thought that the original WDW monorails from 71' to 91' where voiced by Jack Wagner? Who voiced the MARK VI trains from 91' to last Tuesday? He was much younger...

I believe that the original WDW monorail voice was Jack Wagner. At some point he was replaced by, I think Matt Hansen or something like that. This was the voice up untill recently.

Yes but Jack was not the most recent narrator for the WDW monorails.
That is correct, the one that has been doing it for years is Mathew Hanson. He worked in Monorails back in the late 80's early 90's. He left for Guest Relations and last I heard he was working at the Cruise Line office in Celebration. Don;t know who the new guy is.

I don't know. I think at one point the voice was Kevin Miles. Then replaced by Matt Hansen, and now replaced again.
I don;t believe Kevin ever did monorail narration, on ly Matt. Kevin is strickly Magic Music Days and Epcot. I think Kevin is still in Voices of Liberty.

I really hope this is only temporary. The monorail is the core essence of my trip. Of course, I won't be devasted if it's permanent. But still, what's wrong with the old version?

Yea, I heard the new voice, and I was really upset. I think the monorail to epcot is the same, but since we were staying at POP century, we didnt really need to ride the monorail until we were hopping from MGM to MK or any other park. But I hate it, it has a stitch segment on it and a segment on MVMCP too.

I stayed for 7 nights at the Contemporary last week (Thanksgiving) and its all true. Althought the "please stand clear of the doors, por favor...." message is still there, the next part afterwards was to promote SGE. I thought it was kinda tacky. Maybe they are trying something new. But I am a purist I like it the way it was before. I took a lot of video of my kids monkeying around in our empty compartment on the monorail, of which I haven't had time to download yet. I will see if I can find the new recording on it for you guys.
