Just remember, you can always listen to the spiels you know and love through the monorail toy's TTC accessory. All the spiels are on there recorded by Mathew Hanson.

hmm...the possible replacement of the "Monorail Guy" is a little disheartning. i have the whole TTC to MK and MK to Epcot speils on a CD. will be strange not hearing the same guy. hopefully the various plugs for attractions will change overtime. but it would make sense to mention what's new, considering an older monorail speil i listened to had a plug for River Country. (heh heh).

Perhaps only temporary?...

Oh goodness, hope it's not permanent.

Doubtful that its permanent. Especially since they are mentioning MVMCP. They probably wanted to promote the Holiday event, and decided to throw in the SGE stuff since it just opened and they are trying to draw crowds to it. Most likely, come January, we will have the normal "monorail guy" recording back. Either that, or they'll have this new guy re-record the speil, but if enough people talk to Guest Services about how bad they feel it sounds, maybe they can take that into account and try to get it sounding better.

This new stuff is terrible....

The guy sounds like a robot. Both monorails (Epcot and Express MK) have him telling stuff about the holiday events at all of the parks (he mentions Soarin' opening in May '05 on the Epcot monorail). Upon arrival at the MK monorail station, Stitch mumbles some things and then proceeds to say "Welcome to Stitch Kingdom!"

Garbage, I tell you. :brick:

I'm kinda scared to take the monorail now.

Ok I didn't say too much about the TP because I thought it was kind of clever (but I still didn't particulary care for it), but this is a little much for me. "Stitch Kingdom"? Give me a break. That is just plain dumb and it almost sounds desperate.

I would have said the same thing if they had said "Welcome To Mission Spacecot". So it's not just a Stitch thing.

Now see, this would work if the castle was still TPed... ;)

It's just plain wrong now. Next they'll have LCD screens on the monorails. LOL

Stitch's Great Escape promotion is indeed on the monorails. I loved hearing this every time I stopped at MK.

It starts out with Stitch saying "Bon-chiki!"

Then the monorail guy says you won't want to miss Disney's latest attraction, Stitch's great escape. Stitch says "Hiiiiiiii" and "Stitch is here!" and "Meega na la qweesta! Hahaha ahahhaha! blah!"

Then, as you get to MK, it says "Welcome to Stitch Kingdom. Mahalo, and have a magical day, wuhahaha!"

All in Stitch's voice.

Sorry that you don't like it, but I loved it! I don't care for the new monorail guy though, I like the old voice from "Please stand clear of the doors". But Stitch's voice is a welcome addition and I hope they keep it for the forseeable future.

Why would that be a bad thing?

For the time being, it's ok. I didn't mind it when I heard it. However, it shouldn't be there forever so we shall wait and hope that the voice we've all come to know and love will return someday :D.

OMG I am glad I found this thread. I am going 12/14-12/20 and NOT staying in the monorail hotels for the first time in a long time. So I guess from the disney buses I will look up at the monorail and pretend it's still there.

This would have been a big shock for my family:

You see, the spiel is my windows startup and shutdown file and it is at two times the normal volume so many a 2 AM that sound has echoed throughout my house and awoken my children out of there slumber. They all are very familiar with the sound and will be very disappointed if they ride the monorail.
What a downer...

What did the old spiel say? I went to WDW in July, and I really don't remember what used to be said on the monorail, just that the voice was different.

What made it magical, and why is promoting SGE such a bad thing?

for the words, see my sig...

I was just wondering the same thing about your question. I think it has to do with being all excited having JUST ARRIVED at WDW and that being the first thing you hear on your magical monorail journey to MK. That plus the consistency of the message and the way it is delivered leaves a memory.

"Please stand clear of the doors - Por favor, manténganse alejado de las puertas"

That's still there, with the original voice.

The rest of the dialog however has changed, but I don't remember what the original was.

I guess it depends on whether you like Stitch or not. On this visit, my first ride into MK, hearing that, I nearly hit the roof being so overjoyed. That was awesome to have on the monorails for me personally! But I love Stitch.

If you don't like Stitch, I guess you won't like the new voices.

oh, btw - the wake-up message in the resort hotels is not the good old Mickey message. Stitch has invaded that too...

The monorail on the resort loop is all different messages as well. Looks like this might be long term boys and girls...

I felt bad that I forgot to get my Mickey wake-up call during this past week. Now that you say it has Stitch taking over, I'm glad I didn't get it done. They have gone WAY TOO FAR with Stitch. Yes, I love the movie and I love Stitch, but it's to the point where it's overkill now. I can't take anymore Stitch. If they wanted us to like him, they would tone it down a bit. It's similar to a radio station playing a song over and over again to the point where you've heard it way too many times that you hate it now. That's Stitch...I loved him to start with but I'm to the point where I don't care to hear him anymore.

And yes, the monorail recording is new and I don't care for it either. I'm glad the "Por favor...." part is still in there. As for the rest of the narration where it mentions new things, sure, it might be a good thing for first-timers that want to know what there is, but I want my old recording back!

I'm OK with this temporarily. But I do NOT want to wake up to an annoying Stitch. It's cute, it makes sense for marketing, but I don't think ANYONE wants to wake up to this.

If this is longterm, ugh...
