What is your favorite resort activity?

Wow, this is a hard one to answer! POR is our favorite resort so we love everything about it, but I especially enjoy that "lazy day at WDW" when you can swim at the resort (5 quiet pools in addition to Ol'Man Island) and later on take the water taxi down the Sassagoula to DTD for shopping, eating, and fun.

Our favorite resort as well. Love the walks through the bayou section and the sounds of the water wheel. Love the boat ride to Downtown. Love the create your own pasta at The Riverside Mill.

Hope you love it there too!

My favorite things about POR is Yeehaa Bob! He performs Wed - Sat nights from 8:30 - midnight. He is incredibly entertaining, and you will be surprised at how many people you will meet who are from the same state as you!

The resort has many activities to enjoy. We especially like the pool and lovely grounds to walk around. The last time we went we actually tried the 4 man surrey bikes, and they were alot of fun. We also enjoy the fact that there is a boat to DTD so we can enjoy the relaxing ride. The kids like the fact that the arcade is one of the largest at any of the resorts. I can certainly tell you are excited about your upcoming stay here. I hope you have a great time and I an sure you will not regret upgrading to a moderate for this trip.

We have been to POR and POFQ several times. Portorleans.org has been accurate as far as I am concerned based on our experience.

The boat to DTD has got to be my favorite thing about POR. It is so nice to use Disney transportation and not worrying about renting a car if you are staying in WDW the entire stay.. but its always nice to get away from the busses and have the option to take a boat somewhere. The ride is nice and relaxing and thats the only way we go to DTD now. The atmosphere and grounds at POR are beautiful and peaceful. I also love the River Roost Lounge.. After a long day, sitting down with a drink and relaxing is always great. You are going to love it there.

We always stay at PORS. I asked my DS5 what his favorite part of the resort is and he said "the comfy beds". Yes, the beds are comfy but the resort has many other wonderful features.

The Riverside Mill food court has something for everyone. As others have said, the create your own pasta is wonderful. The gift shop is rather large and has a very large selection.

Ol' Man Island is great and there is also a pool side bar. The prime rib at Boatwright's is delicious, the River Roost lounge is a good place to have a drink and people watch or enjoy YeeHaw Bob.

The boat to DTD is awesome, especially at night, very peaceful. Our last trip we rented a pontoon and took our own trip down the Sassagoula over to Old Key West. We didn't stop, but it was a nice little boat ride.

My favorite part is the fact that the resort is so large, it adds a relaxing ambience when you walk around the grounds. They do have carriage rides, I believe you can walk up, but I think I remember reading that reservations are recommended. As you can tell, I love the place. Hope this helps. Any questions, feel free to ask.

Love At First Night.

PORS.There's a million dollar question! This year is our third stay, why?for these reasons. The beautiful grounds, awesome mansion buildings, that sassagoula river at 6.30 am,renting a sea racer or sun tracker down the river or catching a boat to downtown, enjoying a muffaletta or 16" pizza or sharing a " create your own pasta "visiting Fultons store for anything you might need, even aspirins, which takes me to the next chapter,Yee Haw[ this is where the hero gets shot down ] Now don't get me wrong, the guy can tinkle those ivories and kids love him and he interacts great with the audience, but if I were to treat my wife out for a meal followed by YH.Well let's just say my life wouldn't be worth living.Just not our thing, but hey,it could be your thing so by all means give him a go,he has a huge fan base.So to end before the hate mail arrives,I think when the lord calls for me I'll get my ashes scattered in the sassagoula river, and there will be peace in the valley for me.

We have stayed there 21 times and still counting. There is not just one thing that comes to mind, but a combination of things. Does not matter what section we stay in (AB or Masions) it is very relaxing. Everything from Yee Haw Bob to the boats to DTD. We can't forget our favorite bartenders at the pool bar Lee and Ken. It is the whole atmosphere!

I have to agree with the other posters that my favorite thing about PORS is the boat to DTD. Such a relaxing ride and so neat to be able to view several other resorts during the ride....Treehouse Villas, POFQ. We are staying at BWV's this fall and we are extending our stay by one night so we can stay at POFQ and ride the boat to DTD!

The landscaping and fountains are gorgeous and you should definitely take the time to walk the grounds. The views of the river in the early mornings are breathtaking.

I didn't snack much at the food court, but I did like the make your own pasta and my husband and boys went back late every evening for a milkshake after hitting the arcade.

You will have such a wonderful time!!

Thanks! The surrey bikes sound fun! This is our first time at a moderate b/c we usually stay at Deluxe Resorts so I know all the ins and outs there - the transportation, the dining, the pools and activities. But for PORS and any of the moderates - I am just getting my feet wet with research. I have a 2010 Birnbaum guide and other Disney guides. And although they provide good info, I find that personal opinions and advice is so much better! Thanks!

Yeah, we are not used to the bus system. We rarely have taken it in the past as we relied mostly on the monorail. So I want to be very prepared.

we tend not to eat at the resort much - i'm not sure why that is. I mean, grabbing snacks at the food court and stuff like that. But this pasta bar i'm hearing about sounds yum!

I can't wait to take the boat ride! It sounds so perfect!

We stayed at POR for the first time last year and absolutely fell in love!

Favorite activity: Movies at night in the manions courtyard

Favorite thing: There was a gazebo right outside our buidling (Mansions) that I loved early in the morning. I would take my Nook, blueberry muffin (from the foodcourt) and my coffee out in the morning and read and enjoy the peacefulness of the resort while I waited on DD & DH to get ready....so peaceful & relaxing! Also, perfect running trail that allowed me to get in my morning training runs in preparation of the Wine & Dine 1/2 marathon! You will really love the boat ride! Be sure & ride it at night too!

Favorite snack: build your own yogurt parfait and the make your own salad was delicious! Boatwright's TS restaurant in indeed a hidden gem!
