Er, why isn't it? It's a geodesic sphere supported by legs. It's not a dome because it's fully realized.

The castle is so iconic, it's impossible not to think of it when one things of Disney. Though I do love Spaceship Earth as well for it's icon status.

I loved the idea of putting the hat near Fantasmic and not a gift shop below it. I guess it has to greet everyone coming in.

i went with epcot. yes of course, when people think disney, they picture the castle, but to me SE is the most impressive. i like the castle but its definitely better looking from far away, once you get close it definitely looks a lot smaller (the whole point of forced perspective i know). but SE is HUGE, its the tallest thing in wdw, and can practically be seen from anywhere. walking into thepark and passing under this massive object is quite intimidating. at the same time though, its very simple. its hard saying what icon is truly my favorite becuase i enjoy all of them very much and they are all very different. its tough for mgm, because its gone through so many different icons. the tree at dak is of course very beautiful and detailed, but from in the park, unless ure directly around it, its hard to see. so i guess i went with SE mostly for the "wow" factor. if went outside the parks i would have to say my favorite icon is actually typhoon tilly!

I voted for the Epcot sphere. I love staring at it whenever i get a chance. its one the very few things you can see from all over the resort. And there is nothing prettier than when you're leaving Epcot at night at you are right of the founatins looking up at the sphere.

Cinderella's castle is probably the one with the most emotion attached to but I have to say the Tree of Life is the coolest in my opinion.

Is that stupid sorcerer's hat the official centerpiece now? I always hoped that thing was very temporary.

It's not a sphere. It's two domes connected by an elongated hemisphere (of the lower dome) at the equator.

I voted for the castle but, there is an icon that is gone that I would like to find back where it was. Infront of SSE on the top of the fountain there use to be a tall acrylic monolith, don't really know why it was removed. As far as I can remember it wasn't discolored or scratched, and far as I'm concerned it would not look odd if it were put back.
