What is WRONG with people????

I do agree there needs to be civility, manners and compassion by everyone who ever visits WDW. The whole, "It's my vacation so I can do whatever the heck I want" stuff is not a reason, it's an excuse and not a good one, I might add. There is no place to sacrifice civility no matter where you're from, what your background is or how much money you make.

But what can you do? I don't know about you, but I always fear retaliation from someone if I call them out for being rude in public. I never know how someone is going to react. I would think some would comply but others will react differently. They might punch me or want to start a fight and get physical or say, "No one cares what you say so shut your mouth, jerk" or say the same thing in a more vulgar way.

Or, on a prior trip, our very last ride before leaving was Pirates. The boat in front of us was full of "people from another country" LOL that obviously paid no mind whatsoever to the "no flash photography" rule. Either they didn't realize it, or they were intentionally being as obnoxious as possible about it, because EVERY one of them was CONSTANTLY taking flash photos. It was like a paparazzi event at a movie premiere. Totally ruined it for me. I wanted to smack every one of them.

The situation on Pirates is terrible. I have no idea why, but the problem doesn't seem to exist at Disneyland.

BUT I rode it twice a few months ago and had no problems, despite how busy it was. Peter Pan was the problem ride that trip and I never before had that.

I hate this behaviour too (it's the worst in movie theatres for sure), but I admit to fear of retaliation. People today are not only rude, but will throw the biggest fits over the smallest things, and frankly I don't want to get punched over some flash photo issues.

It's because disney has nothing they do to effect things. If they don't shut up during shows a cast member should ask them to leave, if they use flash photos during rides or shows bye bye camera. Will this ever happen as rules? No. Will anything change as a result? No. If they made an attempt to discourage awful behavior the Brazilian tourism industry would nosedive.

I agree with asking people to leave if they're noisy, but bye bye camera, you'll more than likely get knocked out for that. Remember, some of the people that are amongst the ignorant, they have $$$ and those cameras that they are using are more than some cars people buy. So yeah.

So what if the South American tourism nosedived? It wouldn't affect me!

Each and every visit to the world I make an attempt to deal with it by trying to ignore it all but its very diffucult..Especially this past trip last month. The yapping was out of control.
What dawned on me most this trip was the amount of college program cast members off the clock at the parks.
On rides: One CP CM wouldnt shut up on Pirates telling her buddy about every inch of the ride as we rode through it. She would talk about it loud enough for us to hear too to make sure we were listening so she could sound important.
Ugh and them in lines yapping about how they know everything about the park, and they have a new phrase (new to me)...When we ask them "wow, you are knowledgable about the park, are you a cast member?" they say "I'm CP" like its some catchy phrase.
It seemed as if everywhere we walked this trip we were surrounded by off duty College program know it alls that wouldnt stop talking anywhere

I agree with pretty much everything above me has said and will agree whole heartedly with the comment to say something. The reason people get away with this stuff is because many folks are more comfortable posting rants on forums (I'm not saying that's the case here... just an example) than saying something in person when someone is upsetting them. The world is getting used to being able to act however they want becuase they don't expect anyone to have the balls to say something. I'll be 100% honest... that used to be me... but over the last few months especially I've grown very tired of the "I'm all that matters" attitude so many people have these days and I've started to say something. In most cases, someone is so blown away that a stranger has had the guts to call them out that they back off and stop whatever it was.

An example of where we used this specifically at WDW recently was at Country Bear Jamboree... it was very busy, the place was packed, and even though they said over and over to move all the way down, people were stopping and sitting in the center. I walked up to a bunch and said they needed to move down, told them the announcement had to have been heard and they were being flat out rude and, though the father in the group felt the need to curse at me, they did move.

Sometimes you just gotta open your mouth.
We had a spot for Illuminations and about 15 minutes before the show started this guy shows up and tries to squeeze in front of us...we said something...he tried to make a big deal out of it ... getting loud and say 'can you believe this, they think they can just tell people where they can stand and can't stand... we didn't back down...he left and we had our spot!:) I think most people are afraid of a little confrontation ... thanks to our media ... they fear something worst will happen if they are honest and let others know what they're doing is rude.

Me too. It's just not worth it. I'll accept a ruined ride over a potentially ruined day or trip.

Besides, it's not like me saying something is going to cause that person to suddenly realize he or she is not the most important human being on the planet.

So I'm watching the Star Wars Symphony in the Stars video on WDW Magic...and I'm wondering, "Why the heck can't the people in that crowd shut up for one minute???" The show is starting, Yoda's talking, and all I can hear on the video is yap yap yap yap jabber jabber blah blah blah from the crowd. I notice that a lot at WDW - that during ANY event or show or attraction, there are always some people who can't keep their mouths closed for one second! It's like "Screw the people around me, who cares if they can't hear, I got something to say, and I got to say it NOW!" If such people are so in love with the sounds of their own voices that they can't be silent for ANY reason, why don't they just stay home and talk to themselves and spare the rest of us the sound of their big fat mouths????

End of rant.

I have found this to be particularly true of foreigners. Not our friends from across the pond but people speaking entirely different languages. I am not going to single out Brazillians although I am sure they are in there as well but many times I hear people shouting down the row or talking loudly in some language other than english. I am not a xenophobe...it is just a harsh truth in my experiences. It is even worse if they are on a cell phone because they seem to feel the need to talk louder than normal for the person to hear them on the other end and in all cases they do this so nonchalantly that it is like we are disturbing them for wanting silence.

I think it could get to a point where, if the rudeness keeps escalating, WDW will see their business drop off. Obviously, no one is going to stop going there because of one or two incidents, but if you feel that it is increasing, maybe. Well, I know I would.

Rode Soarin' in the first week of April. Besides the fact that the film is in disgusting condition, I got stuck riding next to a family of 3. The mother did not shut up for 1 second of the ride. In the queue, in the preshow, and then unbelievably, through the entire attraction. Just jabbering away in Spanish. Finally I couldn't take it, and I turned to her and said, "enough". No more jabbering, but I was already too annoyed to enjoy(as much as anyone can enjoy Soarin') the attraction.

The HM stretch room and ToT library are two of the best places to find rude jerks.

Locals tend to treat the place respectfully.

We rode haunted mansion on one of our last nights in FL.we were the last ones on. Its kindof a tradition for us. Anyway, the two lady cms who ride behind us I guess to make sure we were the last ones. They were maybe 2 buggys behind us snapping flash picturs of themselves the whole ride it really ruined it for us. We contacted disney about them but not sure if anything was ever done. I sure hope so. :(

A couple years ago while at Disneyland with my niece, a woman and her 3 daughters of various ages were ahead of us in line for Indiana Jones. They stopped at every turn to take pictures, holding up the entire line. Ma near had a coronary when we tried to pass them during one such "photo shoot". When the line splits at the end to load into the vehicles, we were going to go into the opposite line. BUT, they split their group up -- half in one line, half in the other. What??!! As my niece and I were getting into the ride, the Mother finally realized her mistake -- then wanted us to move so they could sit together.

I would have except the CMs asked everyone to sit down and buckle up. The Mother then proceeded to take flash pictures throughout the entire ride. Afterward, I was h3ll-bent on giving her a piece of my mind and the only thing that stopped me was my niece begging me not to.

I wasn't afraid of retaliation. I just wanted her to know how annoying her behavior was to others. It takes a lot to set me off, but she pushed every button. The epitome of the "me, me, me" phenomenon.

Yea, as if they own it! The rest of us are looked upon as lower then whale do-do. We do not belong, this is their house and we are not welcome. That's the feeling I got anyway!

How do they know who is who?

Is there some sort of Van Buren boys style sign that they flash to each other?

I am not a local, and I have been to DLR, I guess I was discriminated against without even knowing it.

Fear of the litigation, not the situation. :D
