umm.. if convicted of killing a human being you can get anywhere from 25 years to life without parole and even death,I think 4 years is a just punishment.

Cats are not my favorite pet and I am going to sound like a beatch for this, but poor guy! Four years in prison???!

If you could see the amount of cats that walk around my house day and night, I think that what the guy was trying to do, was mostly get the cat disoriented so it didn´t come back. Seeing as how cats jump from roofs and nothing happens to them, they are really like rubber! Maybe they do have those seven lives!

I don´t think his method of getting rid of the cat was the most appropriate and he was very unfortunate to be seen, but I don´t think he was being THAT cruel to be given 4 years in prison! Who will take care of his family? Has anyone thought of that? I don´t consider such a punishment fair.

I think, Maria, they are probably trying to make an example of him. Animal cruelty laws are getting really stiff in this country... and truthfully, I think that's okay. The guy could've dropped the kitten off at a shelter, and maybe the kitten would've been euthanized anyway, but at least it would't have suffered. And it's been proven that people who torture animals (and i'd call this torture) generally move on to more violent crimes... aimed at other people. And given that this guy has a child, maybe it's best for her that he not be there. At best he's a really crappy example for his kid.

I respect your opinion Christy, but I don´t think that because he wanted to get rid of a cat he found in a roof or alley and originally took care of, he isn´t a good man and shouldn´t be worth of having a family.
Maybe if he had not taken that cat in first place, the cat would have died sooner anyways.

He made a mistake by not thinking of a shelter for that cat. Maybe the shelter was farther than throwing it away on the road, I don´t know, I am not saying he did good on that, but for God sake, keeping him FOUR years without seeing his baby daughter grow! He is gonna miss out on so much!

They could punish him with community service, but not with prison. If he really wanted to kill the cat, he could have poisoned it and be done with it without anyone knowing it.

*starts countdown to how long before thread gets shut down*:lookaroun

I'm not here to argue with anybody... I am just thinking... where was this man's brain? If he didn't intend suffering and death to the kitten, then he's at best an idiot. You can't tell me he thought this was the best way to get rid of a kitten. And people take in pets every single day that the then turn around and abuse/neglect. I just can't give him the benefit of the doubt, myself. So now, I respectfully bow out of this conversation. :)

Well if it's his first offense he will probably get off with a fine and community service.
Maybe in an animal shelter or cleaning up the highway he tossed the cat onto.
I can't help but think of the Movie Vacation when Chevy Chase accidently forgot he tied the dog to the bumper................ Sorry :D

yes there were a few and they were caught and procecuted. and Maria I to know of the over population of cats running around,I used to live in a trailer park that was over run by them. If he wanted to get rid of this cat, like I said there are shelters everywhere for animals and if he didn`t want to take the 5 minute trip to the shelter he could have just shot it,atleast the poor thing wouldn`t have suffered,so I say 4 years is nothing he deserves the maximum.

Well I have to agree with Maria I think 4 years is too much I know it was cruel but it was a cat.

Come'on lets get a grip it's not as if it was an endangered species.

And yes he should be punished but let's not go crazy and put him away for a long time and ruin the lives of his family I am sure he feels bad enough............... he did admit to it.

Not to mention that when he comes out of those four years (if he gets in jail), the psychological, social and economical consequences will show. I don´t think this guy (and his family) would be anything but a bitter person who had his life ruined because of a cat, that could have died anyways if he didn´t feed him the first days perhaps, or could have been run by a car right in front of his house.... and your taxes would be feeding him while in jail.

Some guy hits a human being on national television with a baseball bat and all he got was a fine.

Go figure if this guy who tossed the cat was a celebrity what would happen to him then.

Mr.double standard rears his ugly head once again.
