We thought we'd do something different this year and rent one of those surrey bike/cart things. What s the best area to do them in as far as scenery and places you can go?

We did the one at Port Orleans, and really enjoyed it. Friend of mine did the one at Boardwalk, and said they have a hill there that is a bit of a doozy. Wherever though, definitely try it!

I can tell you from experience that the Boardwalk is a interesting place to ride them. When you try to crest the bridge by the Swan/Dolphin it gets a little tough. Those things are not geared for a hill climb. I thought I was going to snap the damn pedals off trying to keep it moving. We did a 1/2 hr rental which is basically what it takes to ride the loop. I think it took us just under 25 minutes so we did not have much time to cruise up to DHS or anywhere else.

I think SSR might be nice location to rent from since it is so big and if they would let you ride the trail along the canal over to OKW it would be a nice thing to do.

I'm voting Boardwalk/Crescent Lake loop. I've never rented one (look like too much work) but my brother, @obrienIII, has. I would love for you to hear his story about renting one last year. I about died laughing at the visual. Apparently he had a few drinks but that's okay because his 2 teen daughters and my mother had not. So, they rent the thing and they're going along okay except the downhill parts. My "older" brother is like this crazy fun kid trapped in the old-guy body. He's like zoomin' down the hills, hook-sliding the thing with my mother totally flippin' out hollerin' and slappin' him. I guess maybe it's just funny to me because I'm imagining my mother having one of her all-fired conniption fits on him from the back seat while he's got fire in his eyes laughing his face off. LOL! For thrills alone, I vote Boardwalk/Crescent Lake. Have FUN!

I'll tell you why that is. Apparently the bikes are made from a cement mud-like substance.

we did BW- although the "hill" doesn't look like much, it's not easy pedaling that thing uphill! Plus, if the BW is bustling, you have to navigate around all the people who mostly refuse to move. Then you have to brake and regain your speed :) Have fun

I have only rented them at the Wilderness Lodge and my whole family loved it. it was a great non Park thing to do, you can take a trail to Fort Wilderness and you see a lot of Wildlife along the way.

Thanks all! Port Orleans is a good option because we have been thinking of staying there, so it will give us a chance to look around. Wilderness Lodge is also a good option cause we always walk that trail after gorging at Whispering Canyon Cafe.

I actually had a few more than just a few drinks from the Concierge lounge before renting that thing:oops: I think what scared her the most was that I didn't slow down for pedestrians. I'd ring the bell, but it was like people were deaf. Came pretty close to taking a few out. The girls thought it was hilarious, but Mom, not so much. What was the funniest was the angrier she got, the more I clowned! We should have taken video. I could have sold copies! All joking aside, I had to pick up speed going downhill because some of the inclines were a workout. We made it around the loop 3 times in 30 minutes. I'm telling you, Mr. Armstrong don't want none of me.
